My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Category: Hardcover
Author's Name in Hebrew: לאורה ג`ופה נומרוף
Age: 1-6+ years
Synopsis: This book is by the author of “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie” and “If You Give a Moose a Muffin.” In this particular book, our non-kosher heroine’s craving for pancakes leads to silliness and industriousness, including tap-dancing, picture-taking (with a Polaroid camera!), and the building of a tree house.
Bilingual benefit: For an American child living abroad, this book serves up Americana with its heaping plate of pancakes. The book also echoes values prized by Americans and Israelis alike: curiosity, industriousness, and being שובב. The language flows well and the pictures are adorable. Like the Moose book, this one works well as a book for reading out loud to a younger child, as well as a book for a new reader.
Availability in Israel: While this book is not available in Israel, it can be ordered online via Amazon.
Previewing the book: This book is available for preview on Amazon USA. In addition, I found someone reading it out loud on YouTube. (last checked 8/10/2014).
Lil guy: A regular read, especially when we make pancakes at home.
Mama: Highly recommended. I would buy this again and for a friend.
