"Amitabha, Your Highness Prince Ji, everything is cause and effect. If a person does good, even if blessings have not yet arrived, disasters will have already been far away. If a person does evil, even if disasters have not yet arrived, blessings will have already been far away."
"Oh? Master, do you mean that I am a bad person? Or do you think that I am incapable of doing good deeds and that blessings have gone away from me?"
Hearing Xuanzang say this, Li Shen felt a little aggrieved. He had been doing good deeds all along in order to accumulate blessings.
“Your Highness Prince Ji has misunderstood. I am not saying that Your Highness Prince Ji is a bad person, nor am I saying that Your Highness Prince Ji has not done any good deeds.
What I mean is that although His Royal Highness Prince Ji feels that this year has not been smooth, he does not know that the disaster is far away.
This shows that Your Highness is blessed with great fortune, otherwise things might be even worse."
Xuanzang explained.

"Your Highness Prince Ji, the Buddha said: Fortune and misfortune have no doors, but are brought upon oneself. All living beings are ordinary people. I hope that I can have a good life and great fortune.
But they don’t know that this blessing is inseparable from the words cause and effect.
As the saying goes, good and evil will be rewarded, like a shadow following you. Good fortune cannot be asked for, and misfortune does not appear out of thin air. Everything is cause and effect.
Buddha said: "Blessings come from wisdom, and rewards come from blessings. True blessings come from wisdom, and those obtained through crooked ways will not last long."
Li Shen frowned and listened, confused. His comprehension was too poor and he didn't understand any profound meaning.
I only heard about cause and effect, and the last sentence that things obtained through crooked means will not last long.
Is this saying that I am a heretic?
