Chapter 2944 Leisure Time (XIV)
There was some noise in the living room, as if the front door had opened.
Pamela was a little surprised. She said, "Someone is coming?"
"Isn't this normal? He has never given up on the contact." Tim said, "Before you came, he went to the town to buy firewood on the pretext of meeting someone. Just now, he sent a signal to someone unknown while going to collect firewood. Now his contact should be here."
Pamela couldn't help but look down at Tim. If there was any difference between him and Batman now, it was probably that he had a mouth, and he had the pride in his own wisdom and the narcissism in his bones that were common among psychopaths.
Pamela felt that both Dick and Jason were deeply influenced by Professor Schiller. Professor Schiller's presence made Bruce not truly become Dick's elder, but more like his friend. This made him more relaxed and not have such a strong sense of responsibility. It was a natural, not pretended, peace.
Needless to say, he had a great influence on Jason. He taught Jason to condense the surging power in his heart into a real weapon, which can be said to have directly shaped his personality.
But Schiller had little influence on Tim. To be precise, they were like fellow travelers from the very beginning. Parallel lines never intersect, but they can overlap. It's not that Schiller failed to influence Tim, it's that he didn't need to influence him.
To use Professor Schiller's words, people like them are good at shaping themselves and have never been forced into a corner. No disaster is an excuse for them to become what they are now, and all the thousands of evils are their own choices.
From what Pamela saw, even if Tim Drake was handed over to Gordon, he would still be in the same dead state as he is today. What's more, Bruce, who raised Tim, was not a good person himself. If the top beam is not straight, the bottom beam will be even more crooked.
But Tim is even better than his teacher. Bruce had the hardship of growing up with both his parents gone, but Tim has been smooth sailing all the way. It is God's blessing that he is only now showing the tip of the iceberg of his devilish nature.
Slightly heavy footsteps were heard, and in addition to that there was another sound of tapping on the ground, which harmonized with the footsteps in a regular pattern.
Tim raised his eyelids and said in surprise: "Blind?"
In an instant, there was a whooshing sound, and a blind stick broke through the glass above their heads, shot out like a bullet, and landed on the ground more than a meter away from them.
Schiller opened the back door and carried them back into the house, one by one, and had to clean the broken glass from their hair.
"I told you we'd be discovered," Pamela said unhappily.
"That wasn't discovered by Schiller either." Tim was still stubborn.
"You are only sure that Schiller has no super powers, why don't you think about whether his contact has super powers?" Pamela asked.
Tim was also speechless.
But this was indeed his oversight. There were very few people with real super powers in Gotham, and most of them had super intelligence or something like that. But the earth they were on now was full of people with super powers, and each one was more exaggerated than the other.
For example, the blind man in a suit sitting opposite them. They had already found the farthest window to eavesdrop, but he was still discovered by him in an instant.
Once Schiller had picked the glass out of their hair, he sent them upstairs and told them to stay in their rooms, so it was obvious that Tim was not going to let this go.
The two bedrooms upstairs were adjacent. Tim climbed out of the window directly, then jumped onto the balcony of Pamela's window, and then climbed in through the window of Pamela's bedroom.
"Have you forgotten that you are also a person with super powers?" Tim clapped his hands and said.
Pamela gestured to him to keep quiet and pointed to a tall pine tree outside the window. The leaves of the pine tree rustled in the wind, and Tim couldn't make out what they were saying. But in Pamela's ears, the pine tree was repeating to her the conversation in the living room.
So she repeated it to Tim.
"…He has become quite famous recently. If things go as expected, I can take advantage of his fame and attend this party."
"Are you sure he's reliable, Matt?"
"You don't want reliability." The man in a suit called Matt took his cane back from Schiller and said, "He's just a kid who just graduated from law school. How reliable can he be? Do you expect him to give those big shots a punch?"
"The commotion he caused on the Internet really hit a lot of people hard." Schiller put the glass in front of Mark and said, "He should be the most popular lawyer on the Internet. Many well-known lawyers may not earn as much as he did last year even if they work hard all their lives."
"He was just lucky. He was too impulsive." Matt shook his head modestly and said, "At first I just wanted him to help people in financial difficulties solve their legal problems for free online. I didn't expect him to do better. He deserves the money."
"I'm not going to argue about that. What I mean by reliable is, does he have the qualities they want?"
"what?"
"Opinion leader." Schiller seemed to want to make his point clearer. He poured wine into his glass and said, "The female candidate has too many online supporters. The male candidate needs a strong fist. His first choice is still me."
"You? With all due respect, you are the opposite of an opinion leader - the mastermind behind the scenes."
"I know you're being strict with your wording, but can we please not get off topic? We're discussing your students, not me."
"I don't mean to brag, but Larry is really good at expressing his opinions, and his speeches are always inflammatory, so I don't let him get involved in the traditional legal profession too much, and let him work in new media, which is good for everyone."
“I thought the traditional legal profession was like this as well.”
"If it was just to incite the jury, there would be no problem, but he lacks clerical skills and basically only has a mouth. When he gets emotional, he tends to make extreme remarks and even wants to beat up clients. He is indeed not suitable to be a traditional lawyer."
"Then he is indeed suitable to be an opinion leader."
"Yes, if they invite him, they will find that such a young man is much more suitable for their needs than you. You are too cautious and don't give them any hope."
"I'm getting so much harassment now, I can't believe what they're going to do if I don't act so mature."
"It's just that you don't like it. I suggested Larry to be an Internet lawyer because he likes to be in the spotlight and enjoys the feeling of being in the spotlight. He doesn't think it is harassment."
"She's born to be a star."
"Who says it's not true?" Matt paused and said, "But I'm just his teacher, not his father, let alone God. I can't guarantee that he won't be bribed."
"What I want is for him to be bribed. If you bring in Captain America, it will be difficult for me to handle it."
Matt frowned and said, "He can slip for a moment, but you can't push him down, and neither can I. I'm against doing that."
"That's the difference between us, Matt. If you don't let him fall into the water, he will never know how cold the water is."
Matt took a sip of wine, seemingly not wanting to argue anymore, or perhaps they had argued about this issue too many times and he had never won, so after a moment of silence, he still spoke.
"You have to promise me that he won't be seriously injured."
"I assure you that he is mentally sound."
"So there is nothing left except the spirit? You are too cruel, Schiller. He is only 25 years old."
"Want me to tell you what I did when I was 25?"
"That's not necessary, but you can't use yourself as an analogy for ordinary people." Matt still tried his best to persuade him. He said, "I know Larry will fall sooner or later with his character, but there is a difference between tripping and falling and jumping off the building. Promise me that you are not the hand that pushes him off the building, okay?"
"I'm not, but there will always be someone who is. At least I will choose a place for him where there is a swimming pool downstairs. If someone pushes him, there won't be a crack on the concrete floor."
Matt was silent for a long time and then said, "Whatever you say, I will go with him anyway."
"You know you can't stop him. If he were a hen, I would be wrong to throw him into the crowd, but if he were a peacock, falling into a dung pit would not prevent him from spreading his feathers."
Matt sighed heavily, indicating that he agreed with Schiller's statement.
"You think that you pointed out the way for him and helped him avoid the disadvantages of joining the traditional legal profession, but is the Internet path an easy one? If he doesn't go through the trials and tribulations, how can he transform from one opinion leader to another?"
"Another kind?" Matt repeated the word. He knew what Schiller was talking about, but these real opinion leaders had basically disappeared in the last century, and most of those left now were just clowns who were just talking nonsense and seeking to attract attention.
"Okay, I promise you, I'll just go and take a look. As long as his life is not in danger, I won't do anything."
"You won't be welcome."
"It's not the first time." Matt smiled and said indifferently: "It doesn't matter if he finds me annoying. I'm just doing my job."
"You're just soft-hearted." Schiller commented accurately.
The two people upstairs finished eavesdropping and looked at each other. Tim stroked his chin and said, "This guy named Matt is a lawyer. He has an intern named Larry, and this Larry should be a very famous Internet lawyer."
Pamela had already searched online, and soon she said, "He's not just famous, he should be the most popular online lawyer right now. He has helped many people solve cases online, and he often causes some ridiculous misunderstandings. In today's terms, it's very entertaining."
"So, as Schiller said, the female candidate has too much influence online, and the male candidate urgently needs to fight back. At first, he targeted Schiller, but when he found that Schiller was unmoved, he targeted Larry."
"It seems that Schiller intends to make this happen. Why?"
“He wants to buy a farm, and the farm will host parties, and the parties will influence the election, so does he really just want to buy the farm?”
“Will there be a candidate who is his?”
"which one?"
Pamela shook her head. Tim was unsure, let alone her. Tim said, "If he wanted to make this happen, he should be biased towards the male candidate. But he also said that Larry might get into trouble over this matter, and the consequences would be as serious as jumping off a building. This means that it is not a good thing for Larry to support the male candidate."
"That's the female candidate?"
"Then she doesn't need to push Larry over. Instead, she should prevent him from showing up. It's not like there are internet celebrities everywhere. If two internet celebrities refuse to be recruited by male candidates, she will be helpless and the matter will be settled by the time of the election."
Pamela felt her brain was a little smoking. She was totally unsuitable for reasoning, so she simply emptied her mind and listened to Tim's judgment.
"There must be a decisive force beyond our sight." Tim sat on the ground, covered his mouth with one hand, and looked up at the ceiling. "It will destroy all order and break the seemingly balanced card table. Before they appear, all speculations about Schiller's ultimate goal are unreliable."
