Chapter 1414 Five Notes
Chapter 1414 Five Notes
After a night of farce, Shao Yun got up on time as usual at dawn the next day. After having breakfast, he went straight to the Olympic Arena to help.
He had promised Mavica that he would continue to come and help, and besides, there was something about Dotole that he needed to specifically tell her.
When they arrived at the arena, Mavica was already busy, looking at a pile of refugee resettlement lists with worry.
Seeing Shao Yun arrive, she breathed a slight sigh of relief and quickly walked forward.
"Mr. Shao Yun, you've finally arrived. Today we still have a lot of refugees and supplies from various tribes to count, and we're worried about not having enough manpower."
Shao Yun waved his hand, indicating that there was no rush to get started.
“Let me tell you something first. I met Dotole last night. He said that after he has digested the power of the three months, in about three or four days, he will tear down the barrier of Nodcale so that the refugees can go back.”
When Mavica heard this, she was taken aback. Her focus was not on Dotole, but on Nordkale and the refugees.
"Really? Nodkare will be safe in three or four days? I thought this would take much longer."
After all, she had already made preparations for a long-term stay, so this is truly unexpected!
However, after the initial surprise, Mavica quickly calmed down. Out of caution, she frowned, gently patted Shao Yun's arm, and said with a word of advice:
"Shao Yun, you absolutely must not spread this matter. What if Dotore fails to remove the barrier on time? Wouldn't that leave these refugees disappointed? If that happens, the people will be in chaos, and it will be even more difficult to settle them down."
Shao Yun nodded in agreement and said, "Don't worry, I know what I'm doing. I originally only wanted to tell you; adhering to the principle of seeking truth from facts, I won't tell the refugees anything I'm not sure about, so as not to cause trouble."
After reaching a consensus, the two proceeded with the original plan and immediately threw themselves into the busy work of resettling refugees.
……
Time flies, and it was noon in the blink of an eye. In Shao Yun's ranch, Shao Yun and Ying's bedroom was quiet.
The bed at this moment clearly had just experienced a late-night "battle." The bedding was piled haphazardly at the head of the bed, the pillows were crooked, and the sheets were wrinkled, making it look like a pigsty, with lingering traces of intimacy.
In the center of the bed, Ying's eyelashes trembled slightly, then she slowly opened her hazy eyes, her gaze somewhat unfocused.
She was kept up by Shao Yun for most of the night and didn't get any sleep. She didn't wake up until noon today.
Ying, supporting her aching arms, struggled to sit up. The soreness all over her body made her frown and let out a soft groan.
She reached out and groped around, pulling over the flesh-colored nightgown draped at the foot of the bed, and struggled to put it on.
After putting on the protective suit, she leaned gently against the headboard, let out a long sigh, and said in a pitiful voice, "Ugh... why am I so tired... my whole body aches and feels so uncomfortable."
After a while, she rubbed her throbbing head and slowly recalled what had happened last night. The more she thought about it, the angrier she became, her cheeks gradually turning red. She muttered angrily to herself:
"This is infuriating! What on earth were Ningguang and my husband up to last night? Why did he suddenly start messing with me in the middle of the night...?"
As she spoke, she puffed out her cheeks, as if she had suffered a great injustice, and complained:
"I just asked Ningguang to wait for him to come back, and I was so tired that I went to sleep first. It's not like I didn't wait for him on purpose..."
"He came home so late, and then he bullied me... Honestly, that's too much!"
As she finished complaining, she lightly kicked the blanket a few times, but her whole body ached, and she couldn't help but frown when she moved too much.
Despite her complaints, Ying rubbed her still sore back and glanced at the clock on the bedside table. When she saw the numbers on the dial, her eyes widened instantly.
It's already noon!
This was definitely the latest she had ever gotten up since arriving in Nata.
Ying panicked and, ignoring her aches and pains, hurriedly threw off the covers and got out of bed. Her steps were still a little unsteady. She grabbed a pair of slippers from the side and put them on, stumbling into the bathroom.
Ying hastily wiped her face, brushed her teeth, tidied her messy hair, and quickly walked back to the bedroom, reaching out to open the window.
The morning breeze blew in through the window, carrying the fresh scent of pasture grass, which just dispelled the lingering, ambiguous odor in the room.
The revelry last night had been so intense that the lingering smell in the air made her cheeks burn.
After washing up, Ying, feeling refreshed, stepped out of the bedroom only to find the large house eerily quiet, without a sound.
"Why is no one home? That's strange..." She frowned, muttering to herself as she slowly walked down the stairs, holding onto the railing.
She searched every room.
No one is in the bedroom, no one is in the bathroom, no one is in the study, no one is in the living room, no one is in the kitchen, and no one is in the basement either?
She was all alone in the huge house.
Ying stood in the middle of the living room, scratching her head. What on earth had this whole family gone to do?
Ningguang, Shenhe, Paimeng, my stinky older brother, my husband, and Yuanshang, how come they all disappeared all of a sudden?
Just as she was frowning and deep in thought, her peripheral vision caught sight of several neatly arranged notes on the coffee table in the living room.
She leaned closer to take a look and was momentarily stunned.
Not one, not two, but a total of five?
"Damn, there are so many!"
Ying couldn't help but complain, then pulled over a sofa chair and sat down. She picked up the top note and recognized it immediately from the handwriting and signature as being left by her husband, Shao Yun.
Ying held the note and read it aloud softly. It was written in Teyvat common language, and the handwriting was even a bit messy; clearly, Shao Yun's handwriting still had a lot of room for improvement.
"Honey, I've gone to the Holy Fire Arena to help Mavica with the refugee situation. See you tonight. Oh, and you were great yesterday!"
The short sentence ended with a smug smiley face, which looked incredibly annoying to Yingyan!
After reading the few sentences on the note, Ying angrily crumpled the thin note into a tight ball, clenched her teeth, her face tense, and muttered in a low voice:
"You son of a bitch... Shao Yun, you bastard! You tormented me to death last night, my legs are still shaking and my whole body aches, and you still say things like that!"
"I really want to find you right now and give you a good beating!"
Thinking about how Shao Yun had been so willful and demanding of her last night, causing her to wake up so late today, feeling sore all over and without any energy, Ying felt a tightness in her chest from anger.
She angrily raised her hand, threw the crumpled note into the nearby trash can, and then lightly kicked the trash can while muttering complaints under her breath.
"Bad guy! Big bad guy!"
After dropping Shao Yun's note, Ying's gaze fell back on the four remaining notes on the coffee table.
She took a deep breath, suppressed her shame and indignation, and picked up the second one.
One look at the handwriting and you know it was left by Ningguang. It is completely different from Shaoyun's messy handwriting. Ningguang's handwriting is delicate and beautiful, with soft and powerful strokes, which is pleasing to the eye.
Ying held the delicate note between her fingertips and read it softly.
"I'm going to Valesa's house in the Land of Woru to buy some fruit... and while I'm at it, I'll talk to the Land of Woru about fodder. They seem to have a lot of wheat straw and such, which is just enough to prepare for the cattle and sheep on the ranch."
The second half of the passage conveyed a sense of apology.
"And, as for what happened last night, I'm sorry, in the end you'll have to clean up the mess yourself, Ying."
"I never expected Mr. Shao Yun to end up like that... Anyway, when we get home tonight, I'll give you a massage to make up for it and relieve your fatigue."
After reading Ningguang's note, Ying felt both amused and exasperated.
She shook her head and muttered under her breath, "Hey, it's not Ningguang's fault. Who would have thought he would be so willful last night?"
"Forget it, I'll just wait for him to come back by myself next time. I won't bother anyone else again, so that this kind of thing won't happen again."
Ying put Ningguang's note aside and picked up the third one with her fingertips.
After reading just the first few words, Ying's lips twitched involuntarily.
The handwriting has a slightly exaggerated brushstroke, and it's clear that it was written by Yuan Shang!
As she read on, the cheesy tone only confirmed her suspicions; it couldn't possibly be anyone else!
“My dear sister, our best butler, Yuan Shang, and I have gone out to take care of some important business. We may not be back today. Don’t worry about us, and don’t miss us too much.”
She paused here, couldn't help but roll her eyes, and continued reading.
"By the way, Your Highness, if you're hungry, there's something delicious in the refrigerator. I made it especially for you, and it's all your favorite flavors. Just heat it up and you can eat it. Please don't let our most adorable princess go hungry!"
After reading it, Ying placed the note directly on the coffee table and sighed helplessly.
Only Yuan Shang could write such cheesy and exaggerated notes, calling her "Your Highness" and "Dear Sister" repeatedly, which made her feel numb all over.
But it also revealed a certain sincerity, making it impossible for her to find a reason to criticize it.
After reading the nauseatingly mushy note from Yuan Shang, Ying shook her head helplessly, put it back, and picked up the fourth one.
This note is small and delicate, with crooked handwriting, clearly left by Paimon.
"I took potato pancakes out to play with Longlong's friends... And also, Ying! Next time you do something naughty with Shaoyun, remember to let me know!"
"You guys were so noisy last night, it really scared me, and I had to sleep in Shen He's room!"
After reading the last sentence, Ying's cheeks flushed bright red. She instantly recalled the absurdity and commotion of the previous night, as well as Paimon's angry departure. Her toes were practically digging a fire arena out of her slippers.
She covered her burning cheeks and whispered in defense, "Paimon, I couldn't help it... He was in such a hurry, once he pressed against me, I had no chance to resist at all!"
Then, Ying put Paimon's note together with Ningguang and Yuanshang's notes, and then picked up the last note on the coffee table.
As expected, it was left by Shen He.
Shen He's note, like herself, was exceptionally concise and to the point, without any unnecessary words. Her handwriting was neat and tidy, reflecting her unique personal style.
"I took the baby to play in the streams. Ying, you were sleeping so soundly, so I didn't wake you. See you tonight!"
