Chapter 201 201: Using the Whole Body to Execute a Subtle Joint Technique
This was the coordination between Count Rooster and Pekoms.
The "Egg-Egg Fruit" user, Count Rooster, needed to take damage in order to evolve — but the process could not be interrupted.
That's why, during his evolution, he required the protection of the exceptionally defensive "Turtle-Turtle Fruit" user, Pekoms.
Now, Count Rooster's evolution was complete.
He let out a strange clucking cry — "Cluck-cluck-cluck!" — and in a flash appeared right before Porche, his long legs lashing out like iron whips.
So fast!
Porche hurriedly raised her iron staff to block. With a loud clang, the staff trembled violently, nearly flying out of her hands!
She twisted the mechanism at its handle, and the tip of the staff shot out a cloud of hypnotic pollen toward Count Rooster.
Count Rooster inhaled a whiff and instantly sensed danger. With a sudden leap, he sprang back and vanished from sight — only to reappear behind Polly and deliver a fierce kick that sent her flying.
Struck squarely in the back, Porche crashed into the sandy ground and for a moment couldn't even get up.
Count Rooster turned toward his next target — only to see his partner kneeling before "Clown" Buggy and "Ghost Princess" Perona.
"I… I'm sorry, Pedro… I shouldn't still be alive in this world…"
Pekoms was kneeling deeply, his head bowed to the ground.
Count Rooster raised a wing to his forehead.
This guy… he fell for it again.
Pedro had been Pekoms's former captain. Years ago, Pedro offended Charlotte Linlin and was nearly drained of his entire lifespan.
Back then, Pekoms — who had already pledged allegiance to Charlotte Linlin — begged for Pedro's life, sparing him from total death.
Even so, Pedro still lost fifty years of his lifespan, and likely wouldn't live much longer.
That guilt had haunted Pekoms ever since.
While Count Rooster was attacking Porche, Pekoms — distracted by watching Buggy — had been struck by one of Perona's "Negative Hollows."
Overwhelmed by remorse, he began confessing all his regrets, kneeling on the ground and losing his will to fight.
Buggy, of course, didn't care about Pekoms's emotional breakdown. He pulled out his pistol and aimed it right at the back of Pekoms's lion head.
At the critical moment, Count Rooster flashed forward like pink lightning — his Haki-infused right leg striking toward Buggy!
Buggy's Observation Haki picked up the attack just in time; as Count Rooster's kick sliced in, Buggy split into pieces midair, evading the blow.
Count Rooster had no choice but to grab Pekoms by the scruff of his neck, hoist him up, and retreat to a safer distance in a blur.
"Wha— what happened? What's going on?" Pekoms finally came to his senses, slowly getting to his feet.
He remembered being hit by Perona's "Negative Hollow," collapsing to his knees and repenting out loud. Embarrassed and furious, he shouted at Perona:
"You made me look like a fool! I won't forgive you for that!"
Perona's eerie laughter echoed faintly in the air as her ghostly form drifted away, ignoring his threats.
Count Rooster twirled his curled mustache and calmly reminded him,
"Pekoms, don't let your anger control you. In battle, only composure leads to victory."
"Ah… y-yes, Egg— I mean, Count Rooster."
"Observe carefully. Their powers aren't invincible. Firstly, our Haki surpasses theirs — that's our advantage."
"Understood."
"Secondly, have you noticed? The 'Clown' Buggy's legs are missing, and the 'Ghost Princess' Perona floating in the air — that's just her astral form."
Buggy and Perona both flinched, turning to glare at him.
With his vast combat experience, Count Rooster smiled confidently.
"Pekoms, if we find Buggy's legs and Perona's real body — we win."
Realization dawned on Pekoms. He straightened his shell and cracked his knuckles eagerly.
Count Rooster spread his Observation Haki — and within moments had located his targets. He pointed toward a coconut tree nearby.
"There!"
"I'll grab them!"
Pekoms charged forward without hesitation, trusting Count Rooster completely.
Indeed, Buggy and Perona had hidden their "weak points" right there — but against someone capable of Observation Haki, such concealment was meaningless.
Both of them were instantly thrown into panic.
Meanwhile, Porche had finally gotten back on her feet. Unlike Buggy and Perona, she remained calm. Adjusting her fluffy hat, she shouted:
"Perona, stop Pekoms! Buggy, take Perona's body and run!"
Her sharp command brought instant clarity to the situation — Buggy and Perona snapped back to focus.
Perona crossed her striped legs, clapped her hands, and summoned a massive white ghost that lunged toward Pekoms.
"Trying to make me negative again?!"
Pekoms dodged sideways; the giant ghost whooshed past him.
But before he could celebrate, his Observation Haki screamed in alarm.
He turned — just as the massive ghost began to glow — and then exploded point-blank, engulfing him in the blast.
"An explosion?!"
Startled, Pekoms instantly withdrew his limbs and head into his shell, bracing for the impact.
At the same time, Count Rooster — who hadn't pinned all his hopes on Pekoms — used the distraction to flash behind the coconut tree.
But he found nothing there.
Looking up, he saw Buggy floating in the air, clutching the unconscious real body of Perona — while Porche was holding Buggy's legs, both of them fleeing together.
Working in perfect coordination, they had just neutralized the fatal weaknesses of both Buggy and Perona's Devil Fruit powers.
"You won't get away."
Count Rooster ignored the airborne Buggy and instead focused his gaze on Porche, who had just started to run. He was about to give chase — when the sound of an explosion drew his eyes back toward Pekoms.
The red shell lay scorched and cracked in several places, but it still held together. Pekoms should have been fine—
Until Count Rooster saw him. Pekoms's head and limbs emerged weakly from his shell, his body covered in burns and blood, before collapsing motionless to the ground.
Impossible! The shell should've blocked the blast!
The answer came soon after.
Perona's ghostly form blinked its jet-black eyes and conjured another massive spirit, sending it flying at Count Rooster.
But Count Rooster, more perceptive than Pekoms, immediately noticed something: scattered across the surface of the giant ghost were dozens of tiny spirits.
Pekoms had only hidden inside his shell, guarding against the large explosion — but those smaller ghosts had slipped through the cracks and detonated inside!
"What a devious young lady…"
Count Rooster tapped his long legs against the ground and leapt gracefully back, keeping himself far from any possible contact.
Spinning his cane, he created a blur of afterimages.
"In that case, let's see who's faster — who reacts better."
Perona shuddered as she felt the predator's intent fixed upon her. She quickly rose higher into the air, realizing Count Rooster's true target — Porche.
As soon as he spoke, Count Rooster sprinted at full speed toward Polly.
Porsche, clutching Buggy's legs, hadn't gotten far.
For some reason, she just stood there frozen, staring as Count Rooster closed in — as if paralyzed with fear.
"If I catch you, I'll catch Buggy's legs.
If I strike Buggy's legs, I'll get Perona's real body.
It's a chain reaction!"
Count Rooster's logic was impeccable.
When he was less than a hundred meters away, Porche suddenly turned, smirking slyly as she began to move again — still holding Buggy's legs.
"Running now? Too late."
Count Rooster galloped forward like a stallion, closing the gap in an instant. His cane whipped out, thrusting straight for her back.
But just then, Porche turned her head and flashed a triumphant grin.
"You've fallen for it, Big Rooster!"
Count Rooster froze for a heartbeat.
In that brief instant of hesitation, he felt something coil around his body. Looking down, he saw serpent-like strands twisting around his limbs and joints.
"Tch… forcing me to use such a risky plan…"
A high-pitched, fast-forwarded voice came from his body — the kind of sound a sped-up recording would make.
It was Buggy!
That clown had split himself into countless segments — and while Count Rooster's attention was on Porche, they had crept onto him!
Count Rooster's expression finally changed. He stomped hard, stopping in place, and clawed at himself, trying to rip off every piece of Buggy.
But Buggy had no intention of letting go after finally getting a grip.
Even when disassembled, Buggy's body parts remained linked — capable of coordinated action.
They wrapped around Count Rooster's joints, twisting and pulling with combined force — executing a full-body joint lock that instantly brought him crashing down!
Crack! Crack! The sounds of strain filled the air a
s Buggy's pieces tightened their grip.
Count Rooster curled up in agony, howling in pain—
Snap! His neck twisted sharply.
Count Rooster froze for a moment… then went limp.
