Chapter 483: A Gift
Chapter 483: A Gift
The opponent kept on unleashing attack after attack.
Using his fists, legs, and every other part of his body, he delivered blow after blow, aiming at Liora’s weak points.
Judging from the green glow attached to his limbs and the extreme speed he showcased, Liora judged that the opponent’s talent was wind-based and played a great role in boosting his pace.
Combined with the combat experience of a Rank 7 powerhouse, even a Rank 2 Awakener would have struggled in his hands.
Yet, Liora didn’t.
Not because she employed her full strength or utilized the World of Heart. Her power always remained at Rank 1.
Rather, she was able to overwhelm her opponent because her combat experience was even richer.
Even while using only the new talents she had just plundered, she was able to deal with the opponent with relative ease.
A whistling sound echoed as the man’s hand transformed into a green sword and chopped down, aiming to cleave her torso in two.
Facing this blow, however, Liora casually took a step back, dodging it by a centimeter. Only a few strands of her hair were cut off.
Her face remained utterly calm. Her right leg struck the ground, creating a deep crater and causing the entire arena to tremble.
Earthquake—a B-Rank talent she had obtained by collecting numerous earth-related talents during her earlier trip in the forest.
Caught between the trembling of the arena and the cracks created as a result of this natural disaster, the man nearly lost his footing and collapsed to the ground.
Though he recovered quickly, it was already too late by then.
Scorching flames coiled around Liora’s arm as she stepped forward and delivered a punch to his abdomen.
The flames instantly surged upon coming into contact with his body.
Within moments, they devoured the opponent, reducing him to ashes.
The arena stopped shaking. The cracks on the floor were repaired, and any damage it had suffered disappeared.
A mechanical voice echoed in Liora’s mind.
"Congratulations, Awakener Liora Augustus, for achieving a victory! Do you wish to continue with the Battle Simulation or enter the Blood Arena?"
The moment the words fell, Liora sensed a warm current wash over her body. Or rather, over the separated consciousness that had entered the Information World.
The "physical" damage she had suffered was instantly healed, while even her mind became clearer and sharper.
The effect was almost meaningless to her, who had easily dealt with her opponent.
However, she knew very well that the warm current would have been her savior if she had been severely injured.
"Elena was not boasting when she claimed that the Information World is the main reason why the human race has reached this point. Just the Battle Arena alone is an extraordinary feature."
"Not only can you fight, experiencing many different opponents and increasing your combat experience, but you can also do so continuously."
"The only thing limiting an Awakener is the power of their will..."
The only drawback regarding this feature was that the opponents were not real, after all.
However, the Blood Arena worked to solve this issue.
Thinking of this, Liora was amazed.
The more time she spent in the Information World, the higher her opinion became of it.
At the same time, her previous suspicion was further reinforced.
There was no way this world was created by an ordinary Ancient Devil being. At least, beings like the Hollow Ancestor and the Four Elements Devil couldn’t.
Only a being at the peak of this stage could, or perhaps a powerhouse surpassing it.
"Liora Augustus, do you wish to continue with the Battle Simulation or enter the Blood Arena?"
Hearing the mechanical voice repeat the earlier question as if urging her to make a choice, Liora snapped back to reality.
She shook her head.
Though interested, she wasn’t planning to conduct another Battle Simulation, nor did she choose to enter the Blood Arena.
She had several other things to deal with first.
For example, applying for permanent residence in the Information World.
--
It was only a few hours later that Liora left that strange world and returned to reality.
Looking at the empty house around her, she was prepared to go out for a walk and perhaps even pay a visit to the demons once again.
But just then, her World of Heart, which had been unfolded all this time and probing her surroundings, detected the arrival of a visitor.
Liora raised her eyebrows. She made her way toward the entrance, opening the door and waiting for the "person" to arrive.
Only a few minutes later, the visitor finally did. Yet, they were not a person.
Rather, it was a small humanoid robot covered in shiny metals, less than one meter tall.
A screen existed where its head should have been, having pixels instead of eyes and a mouth. Still, its appearance was quite anthropomorphic. Its mouth was smiling while its eyes were slightly curved.
A rolling sound echoed as the two wheels supporting its body pushed it forward, while its arms flailed all over the place.
Upon seeing Liora, its "eyes" lit up.
"Hello! Hello, customer! Are you Miss Liora? I am Robot mCX57 of the Galaxy Delivery Company. You have mail! You have mail!", it said cheerfully.
The robot’s voice was childish. Coupled with the way it looked and behaved, it truly resembled a human child.
Of course, Liora would not be fooled.
Seeing it stop in front of her and shake its head continuously, as if urging her to do something, she lowered her hand and pressed her finger onto its "face".
A green light flashed across the screen, and a mechanical voice rang out.
"Authorization approved. The identity of citizen Liora Augustus has been confirmed! Please accept your mail!"
The next moment, the torso of the robot opened wide, and a package flew out, landing neatly in Liora’s hands.
The robot did not speak any further.
As if afraid it would miss today’s goal for the number of delivered packages, it hurriedly turned around and departed.
Only Liora was left standing at the entrance. Glancing at her package with the name "Anna Kasperin" written at its very bottom, she instantly realized it came from her aunt.
Recalling the earlier reminder her aunt had given her, she guessed this must be her so-called gift for her "awakening".
--
Back inside, Liora tore apart the outer layer of the package and revealed its interior.
The package was mostly empty. It only contained a single item inside, accompanied by a pink letter.
First picking up the latter, Liora put it in front of her face and noticed a familiar neat handwriting.
...
"My niece, this is my latest invention and the gift I prepared for you! It is the culmination of years of my research. An omnipotent AI Chip! Or, as my subordinates like to call it: an AI Assistant!"
"I hope you make good use of it! Come on! I’ll be waiting to meet you!"
"Your aunt, Anna Kasperin."
...
The moment Liora’s gaze landed on the final word, a hidden mechanism appeared to have been activated. Flames erupted and engulfed the entire letter, burning it to ashes.
Liora could stop it, but didn’t. Instead, her eyes fell on the so-called AI Assistant.
Immediately, her gaze grew odd.
