Chapter 592: Where There’s Something Unusual, There’s a Demon
Chapter 592: Where There’s Something Unusual, There’s a Demon
Ye Xiu looked at Kristina. Although she seemed the same as before on the surface—expressionless, her gaze as placid as an old well, as if nothing in the world could stir her heart—the proud posture with her legs crossed and chin held high revealed the satisfaction she felt, the pleasure of having him under her control.
"Have Qin Qing and Leng Yue arrived at the three Arbiter Families?" Ye Xiu asked, feigning ignorance.
"They arrived long ago!" Kristina nodded. "Rest assured, as long as you do your job for me, they will enjoy the treatment of a princess on Eternal Island."
I’d have to be a fool to believe you. Qin Qing and Leng Yue are already acting like bandits in Sanyan Village, and you call this ’princess-like treatment’?
Ye Xiu scoffed inwardly but nodded aloud. "That’s good. Let’s go, I’ll take you out for a meal."
Seeing how easily Ye Xiu believed her, Kristina looked down on him. Qin Qing and Leng Yue have probably been brutalized by the Sanyan Village villagers by now, haven’t they?
Just then, the unique Eternal Island cellphone in Kristina’s bag suddenly vibrated. She didn’t check it immediately. Instead, she got into the car, chose to sit in the back, and only then took out her phone.
When she finished reading the text message from Xue Man, she was completely stunned.
What? Qin Qing and Leng Yue are actually Martial Artists, and they robbed Sanyan Village? The plan was for them to be bullied, so how did it turn into them bullying Sanyan Village?
For some reason, Kristina had the unsettling feeling that she had just sent two Great Demon Kings to the Eternal Islands.
"Do you like spicy food?" Ye Xiu asked at that moment.
"It’s alright," Kristina replied, her face expressionless.
Ye Xiu nodded, and they drove the rest of the way in silence.
Ye Xiu took Kristina to a restaurant and led her into a private room.
Kristina took the menu directly from the server’s hands and, without consulting Ye Xiu, started ordering, "This one, this one, and this one..."
After she finished, Ye Xiu added, "Make them all extra spicy!"
Kristina didn’t object. In her mind, "extra spicy" was nothing special; it wasn’t as if she couldn’t handle it.
She stated, "Today is your last day in Yunluo City. You must leave for Nanjing tomorrow."
Ye Xiu nodded and asked, "Do you know where the members of the Restorer Alliance are hiding in Nanjing?"
"I don’t know!" Kristina shook her head matter-of-factly. "That’s why I’m sending you to find out."
Soon, the dishes Kristina had ordered arrived.
"Go on, try them," Ye Xiu said teasingly.
Kristina ignored him, picked up her chopsticks, and took a bite. Her fair, milk-white face instantly turned blood-red.
"Is it spicy? I think it’s just right," Ye Xiu said after taking a bite. "There’s an old saying: only those who can eat spicy food can accomplish great things. If you can’t even handle a little spice, your endurance is lacking."
These words were complete nonsense, designed solely to provoke Kristina and force her to pretend the spice wasn’t killing her.
And it worked. Kristina, who was already on fire from that single bite, heard Ye Xiu’s words and forced herself to act like a person destined for greatness. "I’ve always loved spicy food. I even won the spicy-eating championship on Eternal Island once."
Ye Xiu nearly burst out laughing. She’s only eighteen, after all. On her first mission out in the world, she’s still a bit naive. She can’t even see through a simple bit of reverse psychology.
While he ate with relish, Ye Xiu enjoyed watching Kristina, who looked like she was about to cry from the heat but was still pretending to savor the food. I guess this counts as revenge for Qin Qing and Leng Yue!
"I just remembered I forgot to do something. You go ahead and eat, don’t mind me." The spiciness was finally too much for Kristina to bear. She stood up and made an excuse to escape.
Ye Xiu paid her no mind. He took out Ergouzi’s phone and sent a text to Wu Yiping: "Proceed to Nanjing immediately and lie low. Await my orders!"
Then, using his own phone, he sent the same message to Ming Yue.
After sending the texts, Ye Xiu was about to continue eating when he heard a familiar voice from the private room next door. Ye Lin’er?
「...」
In the adjacent private room, Ye Lin’er and her three dorm mates were having a meal.
"Ling’er, you signed with an agency during your first semester, and now you’re about to be in a reality show and officially enter showbiz! This is a huge occasion worth celebrating. Come, let me toast to you," a sultry, long-haired beauty said, raising her glass.
"I really can’t drink anymore. One more and I’ll be drunk!" Ye Lin’er’s face was flushed, her eyes hazy. She was clearly already intoxicated.
"What’s so scary about getting drunk? If worst comes to worst, we’ll just carry you back," the sultry beauty chuckled.
"On a joyous day like today, we shouldn’t stop until we’re all drunk," another girl chimed in.
"Ling’er, we’ll get drunk with you today!" the third girl egged her on.
"Well... okay then!" Not wanting to be a wet blanket, Ye Lin’er steeled herself and drained the beer in her glass.
The sultry beauty also drank her glass, then immediately refilled both of theirs. "Good things come in pairs! Ling’er, when you get famous, don’t you forget about us three sisters."
"Sister Ning, I really can’t drink anymore," Ye Lin’er slurred.
The woman called Sister Ning, Tang Xinig, feigned displeasure and chided, "What? Not even famous yet and you’re already looking down on me?"
"No, Sister Ning, I’m not," Ye Lin’er explained hurriedly.
"If you’re not, then drink up! Tonight, nobody goes home sober!" Tang Xinig declared, downing her glass first.
Seeing this, Ye Lin’er had no choice but to brace herself and drink another.
Eavesdropping from outside the door, Ye Xiu sensed that Tang Xinig was deliberately trying to get Ye Lin’er drunk.
"That’s more like it," Tang Xinig said, adopting the tone of an elder sister lecturing her junior. She turned to the other two women. "Mumu, Zhiyi, you two should toast Ling’er as well. Even though she’s the youngest in our dorm, she’s the first one—not just in our dorm, but in our entire class—to sign with an agency and enter the entertainment industry. We might have to rely on her to help us out in the future."
Ye Xiu’s eyes narrowed. Tang Xinig really was trying to get Ye Lin’er drunk. But what is her motive?
Just then, he heard Shen Mumu say hesitantly, "Sister Ning, Ling’er seems like she’s really drunk. Maybe we should stop."
Tong Zhiyi added, "This is Ling’er’s first time drinking. If she has too much, it might hurt her stomach. I think we should call it a day. We can just have Ling’er treat us again another time."
Tang Xinig was not pleased to hear this. Her face hardened as she said, "Mumu, Zhiyi, we’ve all heard how messy the entertainment industry is. There are all sorts of social events you can’t get out of. As Ling’er’s classmates, roommates, and good sisters, we have to help her build up her alcohol tolerance. Otherwise, what if she gets drunk at one of those events later on and someone takes advantage of her?"
Ye Xiu’s brow furrowed. What was this Tang Xinig really up to? Something is definitely off here. This Tang Xinig’s motives can’t be pure.
