Chapter 770 - 769: Kindness Is a Mistake

"Why are you standing behind us without saying a word!" Mrs. Chambers reprimanded first.

"Mom, sis." Finn Chandler replied in a flat voice, her gaze lowered, seeing the photo in Mrs. Chambers’ hand.

From a distance, she couldn’t clearly see who was in the picture.

"I’m going to the hospital!"

"Brother, are you feeling unwell?" Miss Chandler walked over, raising her hand to touch Finn’s forehead, but Finn lifted her hand to push away and refuse.

"No!"

"Serena is awake!"

Finn said in a flat voice and turned around, but Mrs. Chambers called her back.

"Stand there!"

"That cripple Serena Sullivan woke up?"

Mrs. Chambers followed up with sarcasm, holding the lowest opinion of Serena Sullivan.

Four years ago, Serena had a car accident, and it was Finn who helped take care of her. Serena, knowing well Finn’s situation and identity, did not cooperate to marry into The Chambers Family for the act, instead stirring tensions between the mother and daughter.

"Mom!"

Finn shouted sternly, "Do I have to argue with you?"

The elegant lady before her was not her biological mother. When she called Serena a "cripple," Finn really wanted to slap her.

Mrs. Chambers had some fear of the coldness Finn exuded, but then thought, this is her daughter, what is there to be afraid of.

"Finn, Mom is upset for you."

"Mom!" Miss Chandler saw Finn’s face looking terrible and took Mrs. Chambers’ hand to persuade her, "Miss Sullivan is brother’s friend, I won’t allow you to talk about her like that either!"

"Brother, Mom’s words are harsh, but she means no harm."

"Are you leaving now?" Miss Chandler asked with a smile, "You just got back not long ago? Did you have dinner?"

Finn had returned half an hour ago; she hadn’t stayed at home for the past couple of days. Even when Mrs. Chambers called her for dinner, she didn’t come.

She didn’t want to return unless she needed some documents for a meeting with a client the next day.

Being with Julian Ford, that’s when she felt like herself, relaxed and happy.

"I won’t eat."

Finn replied in a flat tone.

She only had some fruit in the evening. In the morning, Julian Ford had touched her waist, saying it was a bit thick, scaring her into wanting to diet, so how could she dare eat more.

The heir of The Chambers Family, when would she ever starve herself because of a man’s words!

She always did as she pleased, but with Julian, she put in all her efforts, often feeling as if she had changed beyond recognition.

"How can you not eat?" Miss Chandler said warmly, "Mom knows you didn’t eat dinner, so she had the servant prepare food specially."

"If you want to see Miss Sullivan, you can, but have dinner first."

Miss Chandler said as she pulled Finn towards the dining area.

"No need." Finn refused, "I’m not hungry; I’ll eat when I get back."

"Finn."

Mrs. Chambers’ tone softened as she followed to the dining table, "Eat dinner first, then talk."

"It’s fine if you don’t eat!"

She thought for a moment, looking at the steaming soup on the table and said, "Have some soup before you go out."

"When you come back, you can eat the rest."

"If you starve yourself sick, both your sister and I will worry." Mrs. Chambers said, bending to ladle the soup into a small bowl, then handing it to Finn.

Everyone has a soft spot, and Finn’s is being too soft-hearted.

She is soft-hearted towards her family.

Mrs. Chambers and Miss Chandler have accompanied her for so many years. She hates their selfishness, but when she hears their concern for her, she still softens.
