Chapter 30 Phoenix Elegy - 4
Chapter 30 Phoenix Elegy - 4
Zero offered to rescue his girlfriend, and Vega readily agreed, but the Punisher, unaware of Vega's strength, thought they should wait for Deadpool and the others to arrive before going together.
Zero thought the Punisher was right, so they needed to continue waiting.
While waiting, the Punisher asked Zero for information about Kingpin and discussed the plan of action with him.
With no other option, Vega could only listen to the two's conversation out of boredom, but after a while, he discovered a new problem.
The two seemed to lack common sense, and their plan was extremely simple and crude.
The two were discussing something very seriously, but Vega kept frowning as he listened; it was clear that both of them had intellectual problems.
Vega thought for a moment but didn't say anything. He had already wasted a lot of time and didn't want to delay any longer.
The plan is simple, anyway, his intention is to just charge straight in.
After the Punisher and the other man finished their conversation, Deadpool arrived with five other people.
Spider-Woman Marty Franklin, Tarantula Maria Vasquez, Spiral Woman Rita Richter, Black Cat Felicia Hardy, and Lizard Man Dr. Kurt Connors—that's all of Zero's henchmen.
Deadpool is no longer Zero's subordinate; he remains a lone mercenary, but his reward has changed from money to survivors.
Four beautiful women and a green-skinned man were drooling, their eyes shining as they stared at Vega, the Punisher, the priest, and the little boy, muttering things like, "Meat, it smells so good, I want to eat you all."
Fortunately, Zero's control was not weak, and the five did not do anything further. Otherwise, Vega would definitely have brought them to their senses and seen what they would become after regaining their rationality.
Leaving the priest and the little boy beside Phoenix's remains, Vega and his group set off to find Kingpin.
To Vega's surprise, Kingpin's stronghold was not in Hell's Kitchen, but in the neighborhood between Prospect Park and Green Cemetery in Brooklyn.
He dispersed everyone to advantageous positions around Kingpin's lair, and Vega used the cover of night and his armor's ability to fly into the sky to observe. He quickly spotted a cage holding more than a dozen survivors on the flat ground behind the building where Kingpin's lair was located. Mary Jane, who was heavily pregnant and wearing a tiger-skin bodice and a tiger-skin skirt, was also inside.
There were only four people guarding the cage and patrolling the area; the rest were hiding in various parts of the building.
Vega shook his head as he watched. He felt that this farce had to end quickly, otherwise he worried that if it went on for too long, he would be affected and become a fool himself.
Ascending to an altitude of 10,000 meters, Vega revealed his winged seraph form, then grasped the Hammer of Punishment in his hand. He then poured massive amounts of energy into the hammer while rapidly swooping down.
Before the people on the ground could even notice, he had already approached the ground and, in the blink of an eye, threw four enhanced No. 28 combat dolls around the cage.
The four combat dolls simultaneously used their psychic shields to protect the cage before lunging at the four guards and patrolmen. Vega roared and raised his massive hammer, which had grown to a hundred meters in size and was gleaming with a crimson light, as he slammed it down on the building.
The building vanished almost instantly, like a bubble, but the giant hammer continued its downward slam with undiminished force. With a deafening roar, powerful shockwaves and tremors shot out in all directions, causing buildings within a hundred meters to collapse one by one, and shattering all the glass within a ten-mile radius.
Vega raised his hand, and after dealing with the enemies, the four No. 28s who had been guarding the cage returned to their human form and flew into his hand.
Not a single enemy survived; the battle lasted less than five seconds from start to finish.
This isn't making a movie, drawing comics, or writing a novel; this is the real world.
As a powerful being at the level of a sub-father, if he has to fight to the death and use his wits to deal with a bunch of minor characters, then Vega might as well just find a block of tofu and kill himself.
The Punishers, who had been knocked to the ground by the shockwave, quickly got up and stared dumbfounded at Kingpin's lair, which had become a deep crater.
When the dust started to settle, Zero was the first to react, rushing towards the cage that was perfectly protected by the Nen shield.
Screams rose and fell from the dust. Vega turned to face the cage, and with a thought, the pair of huge wings of light behind him began to flap, stirring up the air and creating a strong wind, blowing the dust in front of him into the distance.
Once the dust settled, Vega floated over and hovered in mid-air. He placed his left hand on the Nen shield, allowing the bronze armband to absorb its energy. He then cast a group healing spell on the emaciated survivors in the cage.
A rich green life energy enveloped the survivors, and their complexions visibly regained their color, while their emaciated bodies gradually became fuller.
Zero gripped the two wooden railings with both hands, pulled them apart with all his might, then squeezed through the crowd and hugged Mary Jane tightly: "Don't be afraid, it's alright, it's alright."
"I'm not scared." Mary Jane saw that Zero had quickly calmed down. She comforted the trembling Zero while curiously looking at Vega.
The Punisher and his group also came over. Everyone looked at Vega with awe. The five members of the Black Cat were terrified and no longer dared to look at Vega with the eyes of someone looking at food.
Vega: "Alright, that's all settled. Zero, it's time to pay up."
Zero, naturally, dared not go back on his word. He asked Mary Jane, "Mary, where's the watch?"
Mary Jane ignored Zero and instead asked Vega, "Thank you for saving us. May I know why you want that watch?"
Vega briefly explained his background, the problems he faced, and the deal he made with Zero. After learning the reason, Mary Jane agreed to hand over the watch to him, but she also said that the watch was not with her, but was given to Deadpool to hide.
Vega looked at Deadpool, who seemed to suddenly remember something and exclaimed, "Oh my god, I remember now, Mary gave me the watch."
"Where are you hiding now?" Vega narrowed his eyes. If Deadpool dared to cause trouble, he would throw the guy into the sun and let him experience the wonderful endless loop of death and rebirth!
Sensing danger, Deadpool stopped fooling around and quickly explained, "I buried my watch in Madison Square Garden."
The group returned to Madison Square Garden, where Deadpool led them to Cyclops's body and dug out a watch from the ground next to Cyclops's body, handing it to Vega.
As Vega examined the watch, he asked with a puzzled look, "Why did you think of burying the watch here?"
Deadpool grinned smugly: "Because I know Jean is still alive. With her watching over me, no one can steal the watch."
