Chapter 69 A Year in the Blink of an Eye
Chapter 69 A Year in the Blink of an Eye
At first, Zhao Chen was a little worried that the demon cave he had created might have been breached by the void creatures after he had been away for so long.
Three months later, one evening, Zhao Chen was sitting cross-legged in his room cultivating as usual when a jade talisman suddenly flew in. Zhao Chen recognized the talisman; it was the one he had tied to the jade talisman connecting to the demon's lair and taken with him.
Zhao Chen probed the jade talisman with his divine sense, and Goron's voice rang in his mind: "My lord, that's wonderful! We can finally contact you. Everyone was worried about you, my lord. Don't worry, the demon cave is fine. The void creatures are all kept outside the defensive line by the array, the mine's output is stable, and the forging workshop is operating normally."
After hearing Goron's message, Zhao Chen finally felt relieved and took out two more bound communication talismans. He activated one of them and replied, "Okay, I understand. Remember to contact me anytime if anything happens." Then Zhao Chen released the jade talisman and continued to cultivate diligently.
This is Zhao Chen's eighth year on Merlo Star. Now that he knows the Demon Cave is temporarily safe, Zhao Chen has no more worries and the days pass by slowly.
After Zhao Chen's relentless efforts, Keisha finally chose to forgive him and no longer mentioned his devouring of the female angel. Zhao Chen then shamelessly moved into her bedchamber and began a life of nightly revelry.
He Xi, however, was a different story. She never seemed angry with Zhao Chen, nor did she hate him. She was simply a rational person by nature, and her attitude towards Zhao Chen remained lukewarm. She neither took the initiative nor rejected him.
After Zhao Chen won over Keisha, the most obvious change was that his range of activities expanded considerably. However, when Zhao Chen proposed to go to the outer reaches of Merlo for training, Keisha still firmly opposed it, making it clear that if he dared to sneak away, he wouldn't need to come back.
Zhao Chen initially explained to her that his cultivation system in this world, besides devouring living beings, could also absorb stellar energy for cultivation. And the stellar energy was most concentrated in the universe.
When Zhao Chen said this, he didn't dare to say "devour" but rather "absorb" the power of the stars. But Keisha was still determined to keep this ticking time bomb by her side, refusing to let him go out and harm people again.
Helpless, Zhao Chen could only cultivate during the day. In the morning, he absorbed the wisp of innate purple energy emitted by the sun to temper his soul and magical power, and at noon, he absorbed the essence of the sun to temper his physical body. You might ask why he didn't cultivate at night? Well, ever since Zhao Chen moved into Keisha's palace, he hasn't cultivated at night at all.
As for the rest of the time, cultivation is not very effective; it's better to spend that time with the three women and nurture your relationship.
The establishment of the Heavenly Court of Merlo, the implementation of the new order of justice, and the elimination of the old forces—every single matter required Keisha's personal attention. Zhao Chen was the only one sitting beside her who didn't make her feel tired.
When she was handling official business, Zhao Chen would sit beside her and chat with her, occasionally offering his own suggestions that would enlighten her. Whenever she was busy until late at night, Zhao Chen would stay with her, bringing her tea and water, and making sure she ate on time.
Whenever she was so busy that she forgot to eat, Zhao Chen would urge her to eat first. If she refused, Zhao Chen would hug her and act silly, leaving her helpless.
Starting that year, Zhao Chen began sleeping with Keisha in his arms at night, and during the day, besides staying by her side to help her with government affairs, he would either go to the training ground to chat with Liang Bing. Occasionally, he would also go to the laboratory to be intimate with He Xi. This gradually became the norm.
That day, He Xi was researching space-based computing clusters in the laboratory when Zhao Chen quietly walked in. "Why are you here again?" He Xi asked with a hint of disdain.
"I missed you, my dear Pipi Xi." Zhao Chen walked over and naturally hugged her. "Ugh~," He Xi felt a chill. "Why did you give me such a name?" "What's wrong with that? It's just the two of us here, no one will know." Zhao Chen was as thick as a rock.
"So what did you name Keisha?" He Xi asked curiously.
I won't tell you. Zhao Chen's expression was playful.
"Hey! Are you going to tell me or not?" He Xi tickled Zhao Chen.
"You've come to me of your own accord," Zhao Chen thought, pulling the other person into his arms and kissing them on the lips.
Mmm~ He Xi was a little flustered by the kiss, her eyes wide as she stared at Zhao Chen. Zhao Chen only released her when she was almost out of breath. Huff, huff~ He Xi gasped for air, feeling like she was about to lose consciousness. Embarrassed and annoyed, she twisted Zhao Chen's waist hard.
"Ouch!" Zhao Chen cried out in pain. "Who taught you all this?"
"Hmph! What's it to you who I learned from?" He Xi said arrogantly.
"Can we talk this over? Can you please stop pinching my waist? I'm afraid Keisha will see tonight." Zhao Chen tried to stop this dangerous behavior.
"Oh, now you're afraid Keisha will find out? Why didn't you do that before? Weren't you quite capable when you forced me to be your woman?" He Xi said with a mocking expression.
"Alright, let's not talk about that. I told you to put a bed in the lab so you can rest more often. Did you put one down?" Zhao Chen asked expectantly.
What do you want to do? I'm warning you, don't do anything reckless! He Xi's face was full of vigilance.
"We're an old married couple, why are you still so shy?" Zhao Chen put his arm around her and walked inside.
"Let go, let me go!" He Xi struggled.
Zhao Chen pushed her down onto the bed and looked at her. "Don't scream, or I won't be responsible if we're found out." He Xi was instantly too scared to move.
After the rain stopped and the clouds cleared, Zhao Chen lay quietly with He Xi in his arms.
"Can you please stop coming here so often? What am I supposed to do if Keisha finds out about you?" He Xi nestled resentfully in Zhao Chen's arms.
Don't worry, Keisha won't know. Even if she does, you can just call her "sister," since you're sisters after all.
"Are you trying to kill me?" He Xi bit Zhao Chen's arm hard. "Ouch!" Zhao Chen screamed again. "I was just kidding." Zhao Chen's face contorted in pain.
"Hmph~ I was just kidding." He Xi started acting like a rogue.
After comforting He Xi, Zhao Chen headed straight for the training ground. Liang Bing was training with the soldiers when she saw Zhao Chen arrive. She quickly came to greet him, chatting and laughing with him. It was clear that Zhao Chen was a regular there. The other female angels on the training ground, however, avoided Zhao Chen like the plague, each of them wearing expressions of disgust.
Days passed by one by one.
In the blink of an eye, a full hundred years had passed. During this time, Zhao Chen would contact the demon's lair every year through a communication talisman to inquire about the specific situation.
The Super God Academy arrived today; their arrival was sudden.
That day, Zhao Chen was sitting idly on the throne in the palace, watching Keisha handle state affairs. Suddenly, his divine sense detected a spaceship flying towards the outer reaches of Merlo.
Entirely silver-white, with a precise structure, it appeared to far surpass Angel Technology. Three people stood on the bow deck. The one in the lead had white hair and a white beard, his long robe remaining perfectly still in the vacuum turbulence. Behind him were two others: one young with delicate features; the other middle-aged with a calm and composed gaze.
Although Zhao Chen didn't recognize the one in the back, he recognized the one in front. That was Karl, the future Grim Reaper.
Keisha received Kieran and his party in the main hall.
"Your Majesty Queen Keisha," Kieran's voice was not loud, but it resounded throughout the entire hall, "Please forgive my intrusion, but I am here today to request the establishment of a branch of the Super God Academy on the planet Melo."
"Establish a Super God Academy?" Zhao Chen couldn't help but exclaim in surprise. How come it's been brought forward so much? Shouldn't it be tens of thousands of years from now?
Why do you suddenly want to establish a Super God Academy on Mero Star? Zhao Chen asked, wanting to see what was going on.
"Your Excellency Zhao Chen, since you and Ms. He Xi visited the academy last time, I have been investigating the Angel Nebula."
"I discovered that the Angelic Civilization had great potential, so I've been keeping a close eye on it. Until I saw Queen Keisha defeat Hua Ye and establish a new order, I hoped to cooperate with the Angelic Civilization." He paused, then added, "In exchange, the research results of Shenhe Technology will be made available to the Angels."
So it was my fault again. Zhao Chen suddenly breathed a sigh of relief. It was good that there was a reason; he was afraid there wouldn't be one. The timeline of the story was a complete mess for Zhao Chen.
Keisha glanced at Zhao Chen. Zhao Chen nodded slightly.
"Alright. Considering the help Super God Academy gave us last time, Super God Academy can be established on Planet Merlo. However, it must not interfere in the internal affairs of the Angel Civilization."
Kieran bowed slightly in thanks. "Of course."
The Super God Academy was established on the northern side of Planet Melo. The equipment brought by Kieran was more advanced than what He Xi had painstakingly researched herself. Keisha, He Xi, and Liang Bing all joined the Super God Academy.
Keisha began studying the theological foundations of justice and order; He Xi immersed herself in researching upgrades to the celestial computer; and Liang Bing was drawn to Karl's theory of the void.
Later, Zhao Chen joined in; he was incredibly bored. Keisha wouldn't let him leave Merlo Star, and the three of them would rush to the Super God Academy whenever they had time. He really didn't know what to do.
Zhao Chen chose a research topic for himself: how to gather a large amount of stellar power so that ordinary people or non-human beings could also cultivate.
Although the Super God Universe lacks spiritual energy, the power of stars is omnipresent. Zhao Chen's cultivation relies on his demon bloodline and devouring talent, which is beyond the reach of ordinary people. He needs to find a way to gather the power of stars using formations or equipment, transforming it into a form that everyone can absorb.
Kieran was quite interested in this topic and even arranged a private research lab for Zhao Chen, complete with a small astronomical computer terminal. Zhao Chen couldn't understand most of the data, but he possessed divine sense. By probing the terminal with his divine sense, he could read the data. He then slowly digested and learned from it, gradually becoming immersed in the subject.
He used his divine sense and the computing power of his celestial computer to simulate the activity patterns of stellar energy within a planet. A month later, Zhao Chen finally constructed the first prototype of a stellar energy gathering array in his consciousness.
Although the framework was rough and the energy loss rate was as high as 99%, he finally had a direction. He scrapped and started over, achieving 95% in the second version and 90% in the third. Zhao Chen wasn't in a hurry; he had plenty of time now.
Kieran would occasionally visit his lab. Although Kieran didn't understand the principles of ancient array formations, he could comprehend the flow and transformation of energy. He stared at the array patterns Zhao Chen had drawn on the celestial computer interface, remaining silent for a long time.
"You're not Shenhe Technology, are you?"
"no."
Seeing that Zhao Chen didn't want to say more, Kieran didn't ask any further questions. He pulled up several dark energy distribution algorithms and projected them in front of Zhao Chen. "The patterns of energy distribution are interconnected; perhaps this will be helpful to you."
Zhao Chen scanned it with his divine sense and imprinted it into his mind. "Thanks."
Kieran turned and left.
