Chapter 29: Let's find a place to practice?
He was Xu Dahuang from the city's demon-hunting team. Jiang Han silently sized up the burly man. His personality was similar to Tong Kun's, so there shouldn't be any problems getting along with him.
"Damn it, what kind of trash are these people? Don't they know their own worth before signing up for our city's monster-hunting team? Do they really think we're just here to do nothing?" Xu Dahuang cursed from behind the counter.
"The captain's gone berserk again. Actually, I think this is pretty good, a wind-type, and a level two wind rail at that," said the delicate girl in the sky-blue skirt.
"Xiao Ke, our team only needs me as the wind elementalist. Do we need anyone else?" said the man in the shirt with long hair.
"You're no good. You can't even master basic water magic. What are you doing in the city's monster-hunting team?"
"Fire element, so what? Can it compare to my fire element? I want elites! Elites! Elites!!!"
Xu Dahuang's voice came from behind the counter, cursing and swearing. Almost none of the mages who signed up for the assessment were worthy of his attention; he eliminated most of them after reviewing their resumes.
"Jiang Han, do you think I can pass their test?" Mo Fan asked in a low voice.
Jiang Han said calmly, "Of course. Lightning mages are a rare commodity everywhere. If they knew you were a lightning mage, they would do anything to get you to join them."
"Hahaha, lightning element, kid, I think you guys are still half asleep."
"Aren't all the lightning mages recruited by big families and organizations?"
"Do you know how rare lightning mages are? If he were a lightning mage, I'd pee upside down."
Lightning-type mages are highly sought after in large families, organizations, and demon-hunting teams. They generally don't compete with ordinary mages for such opportunities, which is why others mocked Jiang Han and his group.
One by one, the people in line were eliminated, and soon it was Mo Fan and Jiang Han's turn.
"Oh, so it's finally the turn of this lightning mage." A mocking voice came from behind Jiang Han. The speaker was a skinny young man with a sleazy appearance.
Jiang Han glanced at the thin young man and said calmly, "Fan Mo, let the examiners see that you are a lightning elementalist."
Mo Fan nodded, his consciousness sinking into his spiritual world. In an instant, the seven stars connected to form a star track, and purple arcs of electricity flowed through Mo Fan's palm.
"Lightning element! It really is lightning element!" Someone exclaimed in surprise upon seeing the purple arcs of electricity crackling in Mo Fan's palm.
Upon seeing the flowing purple arcs of electricity in Mo Fan's hand, Xu Dahuang excitedly exclaimed, "Not bad, not bad at all! Um, everyone else doesn't need to line up anymore, we've already recruited people."
"Oh, Captain Xu, aren't you going to do some more evaluation?" Jiang Han said with amusement.
"It's you. What are you doing here in our city's monster-hunting team?" Xu Dahuang looked at Jiang Han warily.
Jiang Han and Xu Dahuang had met before, through Tong Kun's introduction. Xu Dahuang had also worked in the Bloodfrost Demon Hunting Team, but was later assigned to the City Demon Hunting Team as its captain.
"Oh dear, are you not welcoming me? If not, I'll just take my brother with me." Jiang Han said, trying to pull Mo Fan away.
Upon seeing this, Xu Dahuang immediately became anxious and quickly stepped in front of Jiang Han, saying with a smile, "No, no, no, how can I not welcome you? Come on, let me treat you to tea, the finest Tieguanyin."
"Hey, when did you, big guy, start knowing how to appreciate tea?" Jiang Han asked in surprise.
"Forehead····"
Xu Dahuang was speechless, and he began to wonder if Jiang Han was deliberately trying to make fun of him.
After being invited by Xu Dahuang to the city's demon-hunting team's office, Jiang Han said with a smile, "Don't be nervous. I'm not here to make fun of you. I'm here to deliver people to you."
"He's the one you found? You'd be that kind?" Xu Dahuang kept scrutinizing Jiang Han.
"Ahem, he's not."
"I knew it! How could you be so kind?"
"Hey, you must have misunderstood. I'm the one who joined the city's monster-hunting team. Fan Mo was just a freebie," Jiang Han said calmly.
Jiang Han's words made Mo Fan very unhappy. If it weren't for the fact that Jiang Han had brought him here to make some extra money, he would have fought Jiang Han to the death long ago.
"puff!"
Xu Dahuang spat out the tea he had just drunk.
Just as the tea was about to spray onto Jiang Han's face, he raised his hand and waved it, instantly turning the tea that Xu Dahuang had sprayed into ice shards that fell to the ground.
"Kid, are you sure you really want to join our city's monster-hunting team?" Xu Dahuang looked Jiang Han up and down, feeling that Jiang Han was making fun of him.
Jiang Han said calmly, "Just tell us if you're welcome or not. If you're not, we'll leave now."
"Welcome, of course you're welcome! I'd be overjoyed if you agreed to join our city's monster-hunting team," Xu Dahuang said with a smile.
"Yes, Captain Xu, this is definitely the best decision you've ever made in your life."
"Holy crap, kid, are you getting cocky? How come this is supposed to be the best decision I've ever made?"
"Here, this is my hunter's certificate. Is that enough for an elite hunter? If not, I have more: mid-level ice-type and level 3 early-stage lightning-type. Is that enough?" Jiang Han pulled out a brownish-red certificate from his pocket and slammed it on the table.
The brownish-red certificate has four gold-embossed characters that read "Hunter Qualification Certificate".
"Elite hunter? Mid-level ice type? Early to third level lightning type? Really?" Xu Dahuang composed himself and scrutinized Jiang Han, trying to discern from Jiang Han's expression what kind of scheme this kid was plotting.
"If you don't believe me, let's find a place on the ground and see," Jiang Han said with a smile.
Why don't we give it a try? He always heard from Brother Kun how amazing Jiang Han was, and today he wants to test whether Jiang Han is really as amazing as Tong Kun said.
"Alright, I also want to see if you're really as good as Brother Kun said." Xu Dahuang thought for a moment and nodded in reply.
"Hehe, okay, see you at the Hunter Alliance training grounds." Jiang Han said as he walked out of the room, a barely perceptible smile appearing on his lips as he reached the door.
After coming out of the room, the frail girl from the city's monster-hunting team and the long-haired man in a shirt hurriedly entered the room.
"Captain, what's going on? Didn't they say they recruited people? Why did they suddenly leave?" The frail-looking girl asked first.
Xu Dahuang glanced at the two of them and said calmly, "Do you know about the Bloodfrost Demon Hunting Team?"
"Yes, I know them. I heard they're a monster-hunting team that suddenly became famous during winter break," the long-haired man nodded in reply.
"I used to be a member of the Bloodfrost Demon Hunting Team, but later, due to certain events, I was transferred back to Bo City to serve as the captain of the city's demon hunting team. Those days were even more dangerous and more thrilling than now." Xu Dahuang said, lost in memories.
After Xu Dahuang came to his senses, he said calmly, "One of those two guys was from the Bloodfrost Demon Hunting Team. I heard from my former captain that Jiang Han is quite strong. Jiang Han is that kid from the Bloodfrost Demon Hunting Team."
"This is his hunter's certificate. He claims to be a mid-level ice mage and a beginner-level lightning mage. I need to test that to see if what that kid is saying is true."
After Xu Dahuang finished speaking, he threw Jiang Han's hunter's certificate at the frail girl.
