Chapter 256 The Hot Pot Feast After the Exams
Cedric stood quietly to the side with a smile, helping to arrange the pot base and seasonings.
His gaze was gentle yet firm, and he would occasionally exchange a few words with everyone, giving people a sense of composure and reliability.
Soon after, a steaming hot pot was served.
The rich aroma instantly filled the entire kitchen, and the little elves gathered around, curiously watching this unusual food.
Everyone picked up their chopsticks and put various ingredients into the pot. Harry carefully picked up a slice of beef and gently swished it in the pot, his eyes focused intently.
Ron, without any hesitation, grabbed a huge handful of vegetables, muttering, "Haha, I got it first."
Hermione patiently prepared the sauce, reminding Ron, "Don't burn yourself."
Fred and George were like they were having a competition to see who could fish out the most unique ingredient from the hot pot.
Cedric savored it elegantly, occasionally offering well-placed compliments.
Amidst laughter and chatter, we enjoyed hot pot while sharing our amusing stories from Hogwarts.
Harry recounted the thrilling moments of the Triwizard Tournament, Ron vividly described his embarrassing moments in Herbology class, and Hermione reminisced about the interesting magical books in the library.
Fred and George told everyone about their latest prank plan, making them laugh so hard they almost fell over.
Cedric also shared his wonderful time at Hufflepuff College.
Finally, we all left the kitchen feeling very satisfied with our meal.
Cedric was closest to the kitchen; he could return to his Hufflepuff lounge just by leaving the kitchen doorway.
"Then I'll head back first. Be careful not to get caught," Cedric said with a smile, waving goodbye as he went back to his lounge.
"So, can you go back to your dorms by yourselves now, provided you don't get caught?" We might have to split up from here on out. Slytherin's common room is downstairs, while Gryffindor's common room is in the middle of the castle.
"With George and me here, how could we possibly get caught?" Fred and George both remembered the location of the secret passage in Hogwarts. Even with Harry and the other two with them, they wouldn't be so easily caught.
Unless they are really unlucky today.
"Should I cast a 'Confusion Charm' on all of you?" There's no such thing as 100% certainty in the world. If I cast a spell on them, at least only Headmaster Dumbledore would be able to detect it. No one else should be able to tell.
“That would be great if you could perform for us,” George immediately agreed.
My 'Confusion Spell' is a guarantee; at least it won't be so easy to detect.
Looking at the others, I immediately cast a 'Confusion Charm' on all five of them before we parted ways.
"I'm back." I didn't go back to my dorm room; instead, I secretly went to Severus's office again.
“I came to check if you were taking a break, and obviously, you’re working overtime again.” I looked at Severus, who was reading a book while also brewing potions by the cauldron.
"I got a bit of inspiration from reading a book today, so I thought I'd try it out." Severus didn't stop what he was doing; he was still working on his conjectures written in his notebook.
"Then I'll go take a shower first and wait for you in bed so we can rest together." Seeing how serious he was, I didn't intend to disturb him and went to his rest room by myself.
Severus didn't even look up, but his hands seemed to move a little faster.
When I came out after taking a shower, Severus also opened the door and came in.
"I didn't smell any explosion, so it seems like it was a success?" I sniffed around and all I could smell was a faint herbal scent.
"Hmm, it worked, but I'm not entirely satisfied with the effect." Severus took off his outer robe, hung it in the wardrobe, grabbed a set of pajamas, and went into the bathroom.
Seeing that someone was walking so fast, I stopped teasing him. I casually tossed my hair, and it was almost dry. It's good that my hair wasn't long.
Severus emerged from his bath, enveloped in steam.
In the misty air, he saw Ayers sitting quietly on the bed, intently reading a book.
The warm yellow light shone on him, as if outlining a soft halo around him. At this moment, time itself became tranquil and beautiful.
Severus subconsciously slowed his pace, afraid of breaking the tranquility.
He quietly walked to the bedside and sat down, his gaze unconsciously falling on the book in Ayers' hands.
It was an old magical book, its pages slightly yellowed. Ayers' fingers gently rested on the edge of the pages, as if conversing with the ancient spirit within the book.
"What are you looking at?" Severus asked in a low voice, as if afraid of disturbing the elves dwelling in the corner.
Ayers looked up, a gentle light in his eyes, a faint smile playing on his lips. "A book about the origins of ancient magical spells, quite interesting."
I handed the book to Severus, gesturing for him to take a look.
Severus took the book, his fingers touching Ayers' fingertips, and in that instant, a subtle current surged through his body.
He paused for a moment, then composed himself and turned his attention back to the book.
The book's dense text and ancient illustrations seemed to transport him through time, back to the mysterious era when magic was first born.
“Did you know? These ancient spells contain immense power; they once changed the landscape of the magical world,” Ayers said softly, his tone filled with a mystical recounting of magical history.
Severus nodded. He had always had a deep interest in the mysteries of magic, and discussing it with Ayers now gave him a unique sense of rapport.
The two sat on the bed, flipping through books and quietly exchanging their insights.
The room was extremely quiet, with only the occasional sound of turning pages and soft breathing.
Severus found that being with Ayers seemed to sweep away all his weariness, and the worries that usually lingered in his mind gradually faded away.
"I'm a little sleepy." After some time, I yawned slightly, rubbed my eyes, and smiled a little sheepishly.
“Then get some rest,” he said, his tone gentle. Severus closed the book and gently placed it on the table beside him.
I lay down and pulled the blanket over myself.
Severus lay down next to me and gently turned off the bedside lamp.
In the darkness, the two lay quietly, their breaths mingling together.
Severus reached out and took Ayers' hand, and Ayers returned the grip tightly. At that moment, their hearts seemed to draw even closer.
In the tranquil night, they savored the peace and warmth, as if the whole world consisted only of each other. Embraced by darkness, they drifted into a sweet dream, filled with longing for each other and anticipation for the future.
