Chapter 91 We'll Die Together
Chapter 91 We'll Die Together
All that's left is this mess.
Looking at the candles with their charred wicks, Yue Zheng Fengye didn't want to think too badly of people, but human nature is often more treacherous than imagined.
Over the next few minutes, Le Zheng Fengye counted the paper figures that Li Na had made. There were a total of 9 paper figures and 9 pieces of clothing.
Li Na made a few more items, which lightened the burden on Le Zheng Feng Ye.
Le Zheng Fengye reorganized all the materials used to make the paper figures.
After deducting the materials wasted by Ruan Jiaojiao, there's barely enough left to make one paper figure. The clothes could be made, but there's no need for them.
After finishing the last paper figure along with its clothes, Le Zheng Fengye began preparing to make three additional sets of paper clothes—a cotton-padded coat, a single-layer coat, and a burial garment.
Because Ruan Jiaojiao wasted a lot of yellow paper and bamboo strips, the paper coffin could only be made in a smaller size.
But what was even more fatal was that after finishing the soul lamp, Le Zheng Feng Ye discovered that he didn't have enough yellow paper to make the coffin.
Using red paper to make a coffin is considered extremely unlucky and should never be done. Using white paper is more likely to attract wandering spirits, so it is a last resort, but not entirely unavoidable.
After making up his mind, Le Zheng Fengye walked out of the workshop. He originally wanted Li Na to help him find the old servant and ask the old man for a rooster.
To everyone's surprise, when they were almost at the warehouse, they saw Ruan Jiaojiao standing outside the door, banging her head against it repeatedly.
Upon seeing this, Yue Zheng Fengye was stunned for a moment, and then suddenly realized that he had just sent Ruan Jiaojiao away as if she were a ghost.
But Le Zheng Fengye showed no remorse. He immediately turned a corner, slowed his pace, and jogged outside.
When Yue Zheng Fengye ran to the entrance of the backyard, he found it empty. Just as he was about to end the mission, a head popped out from the bushes.
The old servant's expression was rather unpleasant. He waved his hand at Yue Zheng Feng Ye and lowered his voice, saying:
"Do not speak loudly; there is something ominous in the courtyard. May I ask why you have summoned me, sir?"
Le Zheng Feng Ye: "I want a red-crested rooster and a knife, a clean knife."
The old servant stammered for a moment before finally speaking, "My lord, you have truly put me in a difficult position, I..."
Le Zheng Fengye impatiently interrupted him, "If you don't go, I'll immediately lure that vengeful ghost over, and we'll die together."
Upon hearing this, the old servant's attitude became noticeably more respectful, and although reluctant, he agreed nonetheless.
Le Zheng Feng Ye: "I'll wait for you for ten minutes. If you don't show up in ten minutes, I'll summon this ghost and slaughter everyone in the Lu family, including you."
As Lezheng Fengye spoke, he gently tapped the old servant's forehead with his finger.
Perhaps truly fearing that Yue Zheng Feng Ye might do something mad, the old servant brought the chicken and the clean knife as promised.
After receiving the items, Lezheng Fengye grabbed the old servant by the back of the neck, dragged him into the courtyard, and headed straight for the warehouse gate.
"Li Na! Open the door quickly!" Le Zheng Fengye shouted into the house from a distance.
The sound startled Ruan Jiaojiao, who was standing at the door. She stopped, turned her head sharply behind her, and stared intently at Le Zhengfengye.
"If you don't open the door, we're all going to die here tonight!"
As the door opened, Ruan Jiaojiao was kicked into the warehouse by Le Zheng Fengye.
First, they locked the door, then Yue Zheng Fengye shouted to Li Na, "Quick, find a rope!"
Li Na stared in horror at Ruan Jiaojiao and the old servant, unable to react for a moment.
Le Zheng Feng Ye had no choice but to persuade the old servant to help, and the two of them worked together to tie Ruan Jiaojiao up like a rice dumpling.
Then, Le Zheng Fengye said to Li Na, "Keep an eye on them, I'm going to get some candles and paper money."
Upon returning, Yue Zheng Fengye handed the paper money and candles to the old servant.
Under the command of Yue Zheng Feng Ye, the two first stood on either side of the corpse and lit a pair of candles at the same time.
Then, the candles were placed at both ends of the body, ensuring the flames were steady and did not flicker. The old servant then scattered paper money around the body.
Holding a rooster in one hand and carrying a clean knife in the other, Yue Zheng Feng Ye stepped forward, stood at the head of the corpse, and made three empty slashes in the air towards the top of the corpse's head, chest, abdomen, and feet.
With each strike, the old attendant would scatter a handful of red paper money, shouting sternly, "Souls, do not cling to this decaying body! Evil spirits, do not linger in this mortal form! Holding this knife, I command you to quickly leave this corpse, or the blade will sever your soul!"
Gradually, Ruan Jiaojiao stopped struggling, and the two of them backed out of the warehouse.
Le Zheng Fengye took a stack of red paper money and a stack of white paper money, and the two walked to the entrance of the courtyard, scattering paper money as they went.
Finally, at the entrance of the courtyard, the remaining paper money was burned as travel expenses to send the possessed soul away.
After doing all this, there were only 10 minutes left until the mission's deadline.
Exhausted, Le Zheng Fengye ran back to the workshop and spent seven or eight minutes making a rough paper coffin.
Finally, he cleanly and neatly slit the chicken's neck with a knife, and poured all the chicken's blood onto the coffin.
"Phew—it's finally over."
After letting out a long sigh, he went into the courtyard and struck the last clapper of the night.
Le Zheng Fengye felt that he was more suitable to be the male lead.
