Just then, a continuous, electronically-driven broadcast broke through the engine noise and came from outside.
The sound was loud and echoed through the empty streets.
"Survivors of Raccoon City, we are mercenaries from [Pioneer Star]. We have established a temporary evacuation base at the abandoned underground train station in Raccoon City and will be evacuating Raccoon City in 6 hours..."
The broadcast content was being repeated over and over.
The people in the carriage looked at each other in bewilderment.
"...Survivors who did not board the [Pioneer Star], please choose your own way to leave Raccoon City. We recommend taking a helicopter, or you can find military personnel. Repeat..."
The police inspector's expression changed several times as he leaned closer to the observation window, trying to get a better look at what was happening outside.
"What are they doing?!"
He couldn't help but growl.
"Using drones to broadcast throughout the city? Such a grand display, aren't they afraid of attracting Umbrella's people, or... or the army?!"
His voice was filled with anxiety and confusion.
This is tantamount to lighting a campfire in the dark to tell everyone...
"We are here."
"Perhaps this is the only way to quickly save more people."
Jill spoke, her voice calm.
She didn't look at the police inspector; her gaze remained fixed on the blurry darkness outside the window.
"In a city of hundreds of thousands of people, how many can still survive? They don't have time to search house to house. This kind of broadcast at least gives those who are hiding and still have communication devices a clear target and time."
She paused and added.
"As for attracting the enemy... perhaps they are confident enough to handle the situation that follows. Or perhaps they simply don't care."
The police inspector opened his mouth, but ultimately did not refute it.
Jill's words were harsh, but true.
The carriage fell silent again.
Many people wore complex expressions.
The news brought by the radio can be both hope and, more importantly, a deeper despair.
Are their family and friends still alive?
Can you hear this broadcast?
Will we be able to get to the abandoned train station in time?
No one dared to think about it deeply.
They were so terrified by the city of corpses and blood that they lost the courage to act alone.
Now, all our hopes can be pinned on that unknown [Pioneer Star] outpost, praying that we might see familiar faces there.
Escorted by 315 and several other T-100 Talking Tom vehicles, the armored vehicle crushed obstacles and scattered zombies along the way, heading towards the abandoned underground train station on the edge of the city.
The scenery outside the car window became increasingly desolate.
Burning ruins, twisted vehicle wreckage, and mutilated corpses scattered everywhere.
Raccoon City, once a bustling city, has been completely transformed into a hellish place.
This is from morning until now, not even a whole day has passed.
As the vehicle drew closer to its destination, the stench of blood and decay in the air grew increasingly intense.
As the armored convoy rounded a corner, the sight before them made everyone inside the vehicle gasp in shock.
The area surrounding the abandoned train station.
Countless zombie corpses were piled up together, forming disgusting "corpse piles".
Black blood soaked the ground, congealing into dark red swamp.
These piles of corpses were cleared to a great distance on both sides of the road, creating a wide passageway leading to the entrance of the train station.
On the high ground on both sides of the passage and at the entrance of the train station, powerful firing positions were deployed.
A dozen or so main battle tanks and infantry fighting vehicles formed a solid defensive line, with their cannons and machine guns pointing outwards.
Several armed helicopters were parked in an open area, their rotors stationary, but their onboard weapon systems were ready to be activated at any time.
Mercenaries from the Pioneer Star, dressed in the same uniforms as those of 315, and armed with various heavy weapons, patrolled and stood guard behind the fortifications.
The beams of searchlight swept across the night sky, illuminating the entire area as if it were daytime.
This...this is a military base!
The police inspector and the other survivors stared in disbelief.
Such a powerful armed force, such fortified defenses... could this really be something a mercenary organization could possess?
The T-100 Talking Tom vehicle and the Mechanical Soldier 315 they saw in front of the police station were just the tip of the iceberg!
The armored vehicle slowly came to a stop in front of the checkpoint.
The car door opens.
"Get out of the car! Submit for inspection! This is for everyone's benefit."
A similarly armed robotic soldier commanded in an emotionless voice.
The survivors got off the vehicle somewhat bewildered, shocked by the scene before them.
Jill jumped out of the car, her sharp eyes scanning her surroundings.
The defensive capabilities here even exceeded her understanding of conventional military bases.
These "Pioneer Stars" are definitely not ordinary.
Just then, her gaze was drawn to a group of people not far away.
The group of people were queuing up, undergoing some kind of scanning and questioning at a makeshift checkpoint.
The figure in the lead...
Zhou Ye?!
There were also Saeko Busujima, Nami, and several other students wearing Fujimi Academy uniforms beside him!
How did they get here?!
And judging from their appearance, they seemed to have arrived earlier than us.
Jill was filled with questions.
Zhou Ye and his companions were also undergoing examinations here?
What exactly is their relationship with [Pioneer Star]?
The mysteries surrounding Zhou Ye are multiplying.
The police inspector noticed the situation and nudged Jill.
"Those are...students?"
Jill didn't answer, she just looked in Zhou Ye's direction.
The mercenaries at the checkpoint seemed very polite to Zhou Ye and his group, but they were meticulous in their inspection procedures.
Zhou Ye appeared calm and cooperated with the examination.
Saeko Busujima held her knife, her expression indifferent.
Saya Takagi observed the heavy equipment around her with great interest, a strange light gleaming in her eyes.
Chapter 71 Jill's Suspicion
Yuriko Takagi stood in front of the checkpoint.
A robotic soldier dressed in high-tech military uniform, his face obscured by a helmet, scanned Zhou Ye with a scanner.
The green light comes on.
"Name." A synthesized electronic voice announced.
"Takajo Yuriko."
"identity."
"The former principal of Fujimi Academy."
"And what about these people over there?"
The robot soldier's helmet turned towards Saya Takagi and Jack.
“My daughter and bodyguard,” Yuriko Takagi replied.
The robotic soldier didn't ask any more questions, continued the inspection, and after confirming there was no danger, signaled them to pass.
Just then, another group of survivors was led over; it was Jill and the police inspector's group.
Zhou Ye turned around, saw Jill, and walked over to her.
“Jill, and everyone from the Raccoon City Police Department, welcome.”
Zhou Ye's voice wasn't loud, but it clearly reached the ears of every survivor.
His gaze swept over the police superintendent, as well as the shaken officers and National Guard members.
"We'll wait here for the train to leave Raccoon City."
"After checking for infection, you can bring weapons and search here to see if any relatives or friends are there."
Zhou Ye turned to the side and pointed to two young men who had just passed the inspection and seemed a little uneasy.
One was wearing a police uniform, but looked very young.
The other was a young woman wearing a red jacket, with an anxious look on her face.
"Also, let me introduce you to this person. This is Lyon S. Kennedy, a new recruit who was supposed to start work at the police station today."
