Chapter 5 The Orphanage's Tyrant
Chapter 5 The Orphanage's Tyrant
"Dong'er, you can open your eyes now."
Leaving the alley, Ye Tian looked at Dong'er, who was obediently covering her eyes in the mental space, and said softly.
Dong'er agreed, and seeing them on a bustling main street, he immediately patted his chest in relief and exclaimed in admiration.
"Brother Ye Tian, you escaped from those two bad guys! You're amazing!"
Ye Tian did not mention the fact that the two thugs were already dead.
The reason he killed those two men without hesitation was because he sensed murderous intent from Skinny Monkey and his gang; they really had people in their hands.
Ye Tian wouldn't let such a menace have the opportunity to harm others.
Ye Tian responded with a couple of words, then looked at Dong'er's innocent and adorable little face and fell into deep thought.
Dong'er's current appearance has already aroused some people's interest. In five days, he will be leaving. At that time, Dong'er, a five-year-old child, will be alone in Buck City. If an accident occurs, he will not be able to rescue him in time.
"System, can I share my reward with someone else?"
"Can."
Ye Tian took out the ever-changing mask that the system had rewarded him with, and carefully explained the reasoning to Dong'er.
Dong'er asked with a somewhat bewildered look, "Brother Ye Tian, is this mask comfortable to wear?"
"This mask has magical powers; whatever Dong'er wants to become, the mask can make it happen."
"real!"
Dong'er looked over with bright eyes. After receiving Ye Tian's affirmation, she happily took the mask and put it on her face.
"It feels cool and refreshing, and I don't feel stuffy at all."
"Dong'er, now imagine your own appearance. This ever-changing mask will fix your face and figure."
Dong'er agreed, and soon her adorable appearance became ordinary, and she lost that attractive special charm, the kind that would completely disappear into a crowd.
"Until Dong'er becomes the best in the world, no third person can see your face."
"Okay, I got it!"
Dong'er quickly learned how to manipulate the mask, and the faces on the water changed rapidly. When she was done playing, she quickly changed her face back to the first one.
Walk along the busiest street to the end, and you'll reach the largest orphanage in Buck City.
Before even entering, the cheerful laughter of children could be heard from inside.
Dong'er stood at the doorway, looking at the gate in front of her, still feeling a little timid.
If only Brother Ye Tian wouldn't leave.
Dong'er, you are the best! You can definitely take good care of yourself!
Silently encouraging himself, Dong'er took a few deep breaths, knocked on the door, and quickly received a response from inside.
"Little sister, who are you looking for?" A kind-looking woman in her twenties peeked out from inside the door. Seeing Dong'er standing there all alone, she guessed what was going on and a hint of heartache appeared in her eyes.
"Sister, my dad gave me some money to come here. He said he would come to pick me up soon."
"Come with me, what's your name?"
"Dong'er."
The woman named Milan noticed the large number of silver coins in Dong'er's hand and guessed the fate of the father. She felt a pang of pity for the little girl who was about to enter the orphanage.
Milan took Dong'er's hand and whispered as she led her to the dean to report.
The dean was a kind woman in her forties. After hearing Dong'er's story, she sighed softly and quickly arranged a place for Dong'er to stay. She did not take the money from Dong'er's hands.
"Milan, keep a close eye on Dong'er from now on, and make sure she's not bullied."
"Don't worry, Aunt Lan."
That evening, the orphanage hosted a lavish welcome dinner to celebrate Dong'er's arrival. The children cheered over the delicious food, and most of them gladly accepted Dong'er's arrival. Several enthusiastic children even took the initiative to chat with Dong'er so that she wouldn't feel isolated.
Milan and Aunt Lan watched this scene with smiles, their eyes filled with a sense of satisfaction.
After dinner, Dong'er followed them back to their dormitory, a six-person room.
She had just started making the bed when the door behind her was kicked open with a bang. Dong'er looked in the direction of the sound and saw two girls, about eight years old, walking in from the left and right. They had arrogant faces and scanned the room before their eyes quickly locked onto Dong'er's unfamiliar face.
One of them, with sharp eyes, immediately noticed something and whispered a few words to her companion. Two girls then approached from either side.
"New here?"
"Do you know the rules here? Every newcomer has to offer us tribute."
As they spoke, a girl swiftly reached out and grabbed a money pouch that was peeking out from under the bed. By the time Dong'er could see clearly, the girl was already counting the silver coins inside.
"Give me back my money!" Dong'er's voice was filled with anger as she clenched her fists and glared at the two girls who were a head taller than her.
"I told you, these are the rules, the rules, do you understand?"
"What, you want to fight back? Looks like you've never been beaten before."
"Put my money down, it's mine!"
Dong'er uttered each word carefully, his eyes gradually becoming sharp.
"Whatever she does with it, there's a lot of money; it'll last us for a while."
The two girls took the money and turned to leave, but just as they turned, something hit them from behind.
They looked over angrily, and before they could utter a single "you," their vision was blocked by the blanket.
Dong'er picked up a broom from the wall and subconsciously used his boxing skills.
The solid wood stick struck the two girls, and soon their anger and shame turned into screams of begging for mercy.
Dong'er ignored her and only stopped when the two girls were completely lying on the ground, unable to even get up.
"From now on, you're not allowed to mess with me here, understand?"
"Uh-huh."
"Understood, boss."
"What did you call me?" Dong'er asked, somewhat surprised.
"Boss, you're better than us, you're our boss."
"No need, just don't bother me. By the way, what about your injuries?"
"We tripped and fell while walking at night!"
The two girls scrambled away, and the room quickly fell silent.
"Dong'er, well done!" Ye Tian didn't hold back his praise.
"Hehe! It's all thanks to Brother Ye Tian's excellent teaching."
Over the next few days, Dong'er integrated well into life at the orphanage. During the days Ye Tian spent with her, he carefully observed Aunt Lan and Milan, and they both genuinely cared for the children.
On the tenth day after arriving in this world, Ye Tian clearly felt his consciousness beginning to drift away. Taking advantage of the last bit of time, he finished explaining things to Dong'er, leaving her a bottle of Qi-Nourishing Pills, and the next second his consciousness suddenly went black.
Ye Tian's voice stopped abruptly, and Dong'er's spirit appeared in that hazy space, looking around but unable to find that familiar figure.
