Chapter 63 Accident
Chapter 63 Accident
The magician loosened the silver chain of the brass pendulum. The pendulum hung motionless, a few centimeters above the parchment with the question written on it, like a corpse.
"Damn it..." He flicked the obsidian at the top of the pendulum with his finger, but the pendulum remained lifeless.
This doesn't seem like a failed divination... The magician was puzzled; having been a "diviner" for so many years, he had never encountered such a situation before.
The curtains suddenly moved without any wind, the canvas fabric brushing against the back of his neck. As the magician instinctively reached back, the pendulum in his right hand began to spin wildly clockwise without warning.
"Damn it!" He flung his hand so violently that his pendulum knocked over the parchment in front of him with the questions written on it.
The magician stood frozen in front of the chair, watching the pendulum roll off his grasp toward the edge of the table.
"this……"
"team leader!"
The magician snapped out of his surprise and looked at the person who had entered through the door.
The one who arrived was the youngest fortune teller in the team.
"Captain, there's something wrong." The fortune teller's expression was a little off.
"What's wrong?"
"You'll find out once you come with me."
Seeing his subordinate's expression, the magician said nothing, but followed him to a small tent.
This is the clown's room.
"He hasn't come out since yesterday afternoon."
"When I passed by here just now, my spiritual intuition was triggered, and I'm a little worried..."
"Um……"
"There is definitely something wrong with the spiritual energy around us."
Has he lost control...? The magician stared at the door in front of him.
Although it's called a tent, it still has a basic frame structure, so unlike ordinary tents, it has a basic door structure.
Hadn't his clown potion already been digested? How could there suddenly be a problem...? The magician couldn't figure it out.
"Hey kid, are you there?"
"Kid..."
Seeing that no one responded, the magician's face darkened, and he turned to the fortune teller beside him and gave him a wink.
"alert"
The fortune teller nodded, understanding the captain's meaning.
She pulled a pistol from her pocket, aimed it at the door in front of her, and prepared to shoot.
Just then, a soft cough came from behind the door, and the clown said in a hoarse voice:
"Boss, I'm here..."
The magician tried to calm himself and asked in a slow, deliberate tone:
"What's wrong with you? Why haven't you come out yet?"
"The performance is about to begin."
The clown's voice was weak.
"I...I'm not feeling well."
The magician closed his eyes and remained silent for a few seconds before speaking softly.
"Are you feeling unwell? Are you sick? Do you need me to take a look?"
"No! No need, I'll be fine after resting a little longer." The clown's voice suddenly turned terrified.
"It's alright. As your captain, it's my duty to ensure your health. Let me see."
"It's alright, boss, no need to trouble yourself. I'm not a child anymore..."
The magician ignored the other person's instructions and placed his hand directly on the doorknob, intending to force the door open.
"Snap!"
The locks were broken; ordinary locks were useless against the power of a Sequence 7 Beyonder.
The magician continued to try to push the door open, but it was already stuck when it was only slightly ajar.
It was obvious that someone was blocking the door.
"Boss, you guys can go now, I'm really fine."
At this point, he pleaded fearfully:
"Today is the last performance, and I won't mess things up at this time, really. You guys go ahead, I can handle it myself."
The magician released the doorknob and changed his tone.
"You know my temper. What's wrong with you today? Let me take a look."
Hearing the magician's words, the Joker was even more distraught. Trembling, he uttered:
"Boss, I'm so sorry. I was too greedy. I never thought it would turn out like this."
"You...could it be..." The magician's face turned ugly; he had guessed something.
"That's right, I secretly looked at that notebook when you weren't around."
A series of sobs came from behind the door.
"My promotion application fell through, and I'm a little resentful. I know that notebook is related to things related to the 'Diviner' pathway and 'higher-level matters,' so I..."
"I tried the ritual inside, hoping to get the potion recipe from it."
"But I never expected it would...it would..."
The clown was sobbing uncontrollably and unable to speak.
"It's okay, there's still a way. The fact that you're still conscious means it's not that serious yet."
The magician tried his best to comfort the other person.
Suddenly the magician felt the force holding the door open.
He reached out and gently pushed, and the door opened straight up.
A humanoid creature over two meters tall came into view, its limbs twisted unnaturally in the opposite direction, as if they had been forcibly broken.
"Ah..." The fortune teller next to him covered his mouth in surprise.
The monster suddenly raised its head, looked at the two people in front of the door, and slowly spoke:
"Boss, you saw it too..."
"I...I've turned into a monster!"
……
"They're like a persistent ghost," Lanluus muttered to himself as he looked at the nearby Punishers, who were mingling in the crowd.
Just as he was about to continue blending deeper into the crowd, someone grabbed his arm.
"Who!" Lanius turned around subconsciously. He thought it was the Punisher who had discovered him, but he never expected it to be someone he never dreamed of.
He was caught by a pregnant woman.
Megalos!
How did she end up here?
Lanius looked on in disbelief.
"I knew it was you!" Megos grabbed his arm tightly.
"Let go! You've mistaken me for someone else." Lanius tried to pull his arm out of the other person's embrace.
"No, no, I knew it was you!" Megos exclaimed, her face filled with grief and indignation.
She had originally come to the circus simply to ease her sadness.
Her baby seemed to like it here too, and kept urging her to come here.
Even she herself did not expect to meet Laneus here.
If she hadn't gotten closer to confirm, she would never have imagined that the disheveled man in front of her was the once elegant and courteous gentleman.
But since they've met, it's fate, and she won't let him leave no matter what.
"You..." Noticing that the surrounding crowd was looking at him, Lanluus became a little anxious, as the Punishers were still around.
Damn it, how did this woman find this place?
Lanius felt his throat tighten. He knew he couldn't attract attention at this moment, so he suddenly grinned and patted Megaius's hand in a coaxing tone:
"Honey, there's been a misunderstanding between us."
My business is having problems; I didn't mean to leave. Please let me go, okay?
I'll explain it to you later.
"No, you have to explain yourself today." Megos refused to budge.
Lanius's face turned cold. He hadn't expected this easily fooled woman to be so persistent.
"Damn it!"
Time passed by, minute by minute.
Perhaps it's human nature to watch a spectacle, and more and more people gathered around.
The other punishers around them had noticed what was happening and were gradually moving closer.
Realizing he couldn't escape, Lanluus hardened his heart and stepped forward to capture Megaius.
"Don't come any closer! Don't force me!"
