Chapter 33 Finding a Bargain and Gaze
Chapter 33 Finding a Bargain and Gaze
"That's strange. I clearly heard footsteps, but now there's no sound at all."
Lorne was puzzled. He had indeed heard unusual noises coming from the alley earlier, but now it was unusually quiet.
"Speaking of which, this feeling of ease I'm experiencing now, could it be...?" Lorne carefully recalled everything that had happened today.
"As expected, as long as you do something that matches the name of the potion, you will get the corresponding feedback."
The changes in his body today completely confirmed his previous suspicions: the name of the potion definitely had a more special meaning.
"This is... blood!" Lorne, who was walking and thinking, suddenly stopped in his tracks.
He saw large amounts of dark red liquid on the ground and walls all around him.
"It's a corpse!" He looked up and saw the body lying in a pool of blood not far away, and was momentarily stunned.
"Calm down, calm down!"
Lorne, who considered himself worldly-wise, calmed himself down and suppressed the urge to run away.
He activated his spiritual vision and began to examine the area.
"He's definitely dead."
"This feeling is not something an ordinary person can have; this is an extraordinary being." The corpse of an extraordinary being shocked Lorne.
"The spiritual energy around here is chaotic; could it be a case of double-crossing?"
If the corpse is an extraordinary being, then the person who killed him is most likely also an extraordinary being.
However, judging from the fact that the body is still lying here, untouched, and there are no guards around, it is unlikely that it was done by officials.
In Lorne's view, the most likely scenario right now is that the wild extraordinary beings are dominating each other.
"The extraordinary world is indeed dangerous. Someone as unlucky as me has to be extra careful." Lorne sighed as he looked at the corpse in front of him.
"However, since it's a case of 'black eating black,' no one will care about what's on this corpse, right?"
His gaze fell upon the strange, transparent object on the corpse.
Lorne wasn't usually interested in dead people's things, but for some reason, he always felt that the transparent substance that appeared on the corpse had a special attraction.
"Why do I feel like I'm a tomb raider?"
After much thought, Lorne decided to follow his intuition and reached for the transparent substance.
"Friend, I'm sorry, you're just unlucky, so you can't blame me."
"I guess you could say I'm recycling this."
"What is this thing? Why is it so smooth?" After picking it up, Lorne was puzzled by the strange, transparent object.
"What bad luck, I just had to forget to wear my monocle today."
His purpose in going out today was to sell the potion recipe and make some money, so he planned to go out and have a nice meal.
Having never anticipated this situation, the monocle with its diagnostic function was naturally not on my person.
If we had that monocle, we could definitely figure out what it is.
And how to describe the feel of this thing... it's somewhat like the slime he used to play with when he was a kid, but it's even smoother and has a natural feel to it.
"It feels so slippery, it could slip right out of my hand." Its peculiar texture left Lorne somewhat at a loss.
"How...how should I take this with me?"
It's a bit too much to just grab it directly in your hand, and the feel of this thing is also quite peculiar; you might not be able to hold it for long.
"I feel like it'll fall out if I put it in my pants pocket."
After thinking it over, Lorne put it in the inside pocket of his shirt, which had been specially modified to be large and deep.
Feeling the slippery sensation on his chest, Lorne felt an indescribable strangeness.
After packing his things, Lorne got up to leave. He had only taken two steps when he seemed to remember something, turned back to the corpse in front of him, and said:
"May the steam protect you, um...maybe...may you have better luck in your next life." After making up a eulogy, Lorne turned around and left the alley.
A few minutes later.
"Captain, the unusual place is in that alley ahead," Leonard said to Dunn beside him.
……
"Huff, huff, huff."
"I'm finally back."
Because he had something unknown in his inner pocket, he walked very fast, practically jogging the whole way.
Lorne first took off his coat, then took out a leather suitcase from under the bed, and took out the monocle made of crystal.
"These glasses have pretty strong identification capabilities. They should be able to identify what that thing is without any problem."
As he spoke, Lorne put his monocle on his right eye and then got up to get his coat.
"This! This!"
"Where's the stuff? It's gone!"
Lorne turned his inner pocket inside out, but still couldn't see the transparent object.
"Wait, why does this feel so familiar?" Lorne remembered the day he lost his notebook.
"Could it be that I was running too fast, and that thing just fell off while I was bouncing around?"
"That shouldn't be the case, this inner pocket is very deep." Lorne lowered his head and thought, his face looking somewhat grim.
"Could it be that the stuff melted into the coat?" Lorne recalled the semi-liquid texture of the substance and guessed that it might have dissolved into the clothes like water.
He picked up his coat and examined it under the light, but no matter how he looked at it, he couldn't figure it out.
"Strange." He infused his spirituality into the monocle he wore in his right eye.

"The clothes are normal..." Lorne looked at the test results with some doubt.
"Could it really have fallen halfway down the road, or is that thing some kind of liquid gel that evaporated on its own?" Lorne wondered uncertainly.
"Oh well, never mind." Although it was a bit of a pity, Lorne calmed down.
"To gain it is my fortune, to lose it is my fate."
"Unlike notes that I bought with money, this one was found by chance. If it's lost, it's lost. I shouldn't ruin my good mood."
As Lorne thought this, his mood gradually calmed down. He got up to take a shower and rest, but suddenly felt something was wrong with his body.
"That's strange, I feel inexplicably hot."
"It feels like there's something inside my body..."
……
……
Above the gray fog.
Klein sat at the long bronze table, bowing his head and rubbing his forehead.
Even in this space that belonged only to him, he still felt a bit awkward.
"How embarrassing, so embarrassing."
He felt a wave of despair when he recalled the scene that afternoon when he was surrounded by a group of people.
He had no idea how he managed to escape from those gazes.
"Oh no, I'll never be able to go to a fortune-telling club again."
"But that strange flash of light... I feel like I've seen it somewhere before." After the awkward feeling subsided a little, he began to remember the important matter at hand.
"Right, it's that star from before." Klein recalled the experience of being blinded by the light in the gray fog.
"Could that person be...?"
After a moment's thought, he decided to use his expertise as a diviner to perform a divination.
"The person I met at the fortune-telling club this afternoon..."
Before long, a scene appeared before his eyes.
Even in his spirit form, Klein instinctively closed his eyes, afraid of being blinded by the light again.
"This, is everything alright this time?" Seeing that his eyes were fine, Klein slowly opened them.
He saw a young man with brown hair sitting on the edge of the bed.
If you look closely, you can also see that he is wearing a monocle on his face.
……
"Strange, what's wrong?" Lorne was puzzled by his own condition.
"What!" He suddenly felt something watching him and subconsciously looked up at the sky.
……
"What?!"
Klein noticed that the young man in the video suddenly turned his gaze towards him and made eye contact across the screen.
For some reason, Klein felt a pang in his heart the moment he saw the monocle on his face.
