Chapter 729 The Laughing Bat, You're Ugly
As the blade pierced his back, the Bat Who Laughs thought of many things in that instant.
All those things he had overlooked, one by one, surfaced in his mind like reflections, but no matter where he examined his actions, he never found anything missing.
The Batman Who Laughs's plan includes all possible and unforeseen scenarios, and he is capable of responding to any changes that may occur.
But the person in front of him was still enough to give him a slight surprise.
A person who should not appear before the Laughing Bat.
Or rather...
A person who is already dead.
"What... a killing machine?"
The Laughing Bat stared in astonishment at the enemy behind him, whose hands conjured metal blades that pierced his back.
He considered the possibility of Batman Dragon, Barbatos, or even the possibility of the World Forger returning to bring him a huge surprise.

The Bat Who Laughs had considered everyone; he devised plan after plan for potential interference, but—
No way, these plans are meant to deal with killing machines?
What kind of trash is this guy? Batman Bruce Wayne fused with Cyborg from the Dark Multiverse? It's hilarious, constantly driving this so-called Alfred Protocol and talking to his own imagined Alfred mother.
Compared to the other characters who can be considered useful tools, Killing Machine is Batman's mama's boy. He lacks talent and creativity, and Batman Who Laughs has never thought highly of his fellow Dark Knights members—especially Killing Machine.
The Batman Who Laughs never gave him a second glance, from his attempts to get his attention in front of Barbatos to his foolish attempt to seize the leadership of the Dark Knights.
He didn't even bother to expend any effort to dispel his foolish delusions; everything he did had no effect on the maniacal laughter.
If a child throws a punch at an adult with all his might, the adult will at most stop him or find it amusing and playfully wrestle with him.
But if an ant charges at a tank's tracks, what kind of response do you expect the tank to give?
The Laughing One has always been focused on the truly noteworthy characters and planning things that are worth his effort.
He never imagined that the killing machine would appear in such a crucial position, becoming the very entity in his plan that could cause him trouble! In his plan, this position should have been occupied by Batman Dragon, or some other, even more powerful character!
You think you're worthy?
"Who ordered you to do this?" He immediately grabbed the blade protruding from his chest. The killing machine was even consciously targeting him. Was this the killing machine's consciousness? Could it really do something like this?
The power of the Metal Spirit began to spread from the blade towards his body, attempting to transform the Batman Who Laughs's body into a pure metal structure.
The Batman Who Laughs felt a shimmering silver light spreading across his chest; it was essentially a magical force, and the Killing Machine even knew to use magic against him. Every Batman is somewhat ill-equipped to deal with magic, and even for the Batman Who Laughs, this rule held some sway.
Like every Batman, he despises magic—given the chance, he'd even casually kill any sorcerer, provided they're no longer of any use to him. When they are useful, the Batman Who Laughs is as amiable to consumables as ever.
(Note: In Death Metal, the useless Bat Mage was actually killed off by the Laughing One.)
"You think you've found my weakness? Very well."
The dark matter energy quickly pushed back the metallic sheen. The Bat of Laughter turned his head, glancing sideways at the killing machines with disdain, even though the metal tentacles extending from the killing machines had already bound his entire body.
"Alright, interesting surprise. Tell me. Who ordered you to do this? Who is my real opponent in this game?"
A burst of pink lightning struck, and the metal tentacles wrapped around him vanished without a trace.
Kuangxiao lowered his head and saw that the wound on his chest was slowly healing, and some of the metallic sheen still remained on it, not being quickly eliminated, but it was only a matter of time before it was completely gone.
The timing of this sneak attack was excellent, preemptively altering the timeline of the main universe and even devising a clever method to restore the [Flashpoint], which had already appeared in the hypertime stream—
"This is something you absolutely cannot do, killing machine. I don't mean to belittle you, but you were recruited by me. I know you inside and out."
"That's what the Bat of Laughter said."
If a timeline has ever appeared in the Hypertime Stream, restoring it is easier than creating a new one out of thin air.
(Note: For example, even though the Flashpoint timeline was erased, Flashpoint: Beyond still happened.)
"I'm sorry, Bat of the Laughing, but it seems I am your true opponent." The Killing Machine seemed unsurprised to see Bat of the Laughing escape.
He restored his hand, which had been transformed into a sharp blade, to its original state, then stepped back slightly and calmly watched his enemy.
"You are too proud, Bat of Laughter. You never thought that anyone would act outside of your thoughts."
The Laughing Bat remained silent, examining the metallic spirits injected into his body to see if they contained any other power or deadly moves.
Regardless of whether someone else was behind the killing machine—the Batman Who Laughs was inclined to believe so—he didn't believe his enemy had merely given him a harmless prick with the Metal Spirit, especially given such a good opportunity.
If it were the maniac who were to take action, he would definitely try to kill him, or at the very least severely injure him.
Wait, could it be that the other party plans to use me for something?
These were the thoughts that flashed through the Bat of Laughter's mind in an instant, but he remained unmoved.
He checked himself over, but it seemed to be just a simple metal spirit, with no other problems.
Kuang Xiao's heart sank. This meant that he couldn't find anything wrong, but how could that be?
If the enemy he faces is truly so powerful that he can devise a contingency plan that he can't detect, or rather, can't perceive the slightest abnormality, then the Batman Who Laughs means—
His ability level should be so high that the Batman Who Laughs can't even dream of it, at least the World Maker or Perpetua who came down from the wall. But if you already have such great power, is it necessary to resort to such roundabout methods?
Among the many thoughts that came to mind, Kuangxiao even considered whether the other party might just be trying to scare him and achieve some other purpose, but this thought disappeared without a trace after only a short while.
Are you kidding me? Are you trying to make me laugh?
"Let's make a deal, Bat of the Laughing." Then he heard the killing machine before him say, "How about exchanging it for the [future]?"
"Huh? That's an interesting way to put it."
The Laughing Bat had the Thunder Sprites swarming around him, indicating that he was in no hurry to make a move.
On his other side, his body was covered in outstretched limbs, and even the Red Death and the Flash from the Alliance were trapped in the same body. The main universe Flash convulsed all over.
Then, the extra limbs, the Red Death, and the other Flash's body all merged into his body under the influence of the Speed Force, making him completely like a normal Flash.
The Laughing Bat lazily sat down, and the Five-Dimensional Thunder Sprite conjured a seat out of thin air on the ground, making the Laughing Bat very comfortable.
He appeared completely harmless, and then, in the next instant, the fully controlled Flash from the main universe flashed behind the killing machine, unleashing a supersonic hand chop and a five-dimensional lightning sprite's lightning strike at him, but then all of this...
There has been no response.
"What can I do for you?"
The Batman Who Laughs saw Alfred's cybernetic ghost appear beside the Flash and the Little Sprite in the main universe.
Alfred was wearing his classic butler uniform, his bald hair was flowing, and he had half a towel and a cake draped over his body.
He grabbed the sprinting Flash from the main universe by the neck with one hand, and with the other hand, he shattered the lightning that the five-dimensional sprites were unleashing towards the killing machine's head.
Are you kidding me? When did the Alfred Protocol become this powerful?
In an instant, the Flash from the main universe returned and stood behind the Batman Who Laughs.
The attack was halted.
The Bat Who Laughs originally intended to use this attack to probe the opponent's strength. If the opponent couldn't withstand it, that would be best, but if they could...
He felt that the other side would definitely release some information during this confrontation. Where did its power come from? The Monitor and Anti-Monitor, the World Forger, or the Batman Dragon?
But there was nothing, no indication whatsoever. The Batman Who Laughs had realized that the other party had the ability to come and go freely in front of him, and he was forced to sit down and talk…
He felt uneasy, as if the other person had done something to him. On the other hand, he also really wanted to know…
"What do you want to exchange?"
"The Monitor," the killing machine stated succinctly, "is a good deal, isn't it?"
Unlike the counter-monitors, the monitors experienced repeated deaths and resurrections downstream in the hyper-time flow, ultimately leaving only a brain and not even a living body.
Since the Crisis on Infinite Earths, the Monitors have gone through a history of becoming a race and then reverting back to the same old thing, including the Monitor Council and all sorts of other messy events. Fortunately, they still occupy a body in the current timeline of the Hypertime Stream.
Even if this body is weak and incompetent, it is still a usable body.
Barbatos had planned to capture this body and then combine it with the astral brain he had acquired from the Anti-Monitor to create a multiverse-level super bomb as his ultimate trump card for invading the main universe. Of course, this bomb never exploded, and was stopped by Batman and the Joker working together.
However, due to the involvement of Batman Dragon and the numerous incidents it caused, as well as the Batman Who Laughs's usual procrastination, the Batman Who Laughs resigned before Barbatos even had a chance to capture the Monitor. All the funding (referring to dark matter energy) and paperwork (referring to other support) that Barbatos had previously provided to the Batman Who Laughs were now wasted.
The heartless, laughing bat, a corrupt worker, only collects funding without doing any work. He spends all his time drawing PowerPoint presentations (referring to providing intelligence) to Barbatos to argue that solving the problem is really difficult.
But the killing machine before him seemed to have seen through the Batman Who Laughs's tricks in an instant, and he said with absolute certainty:
"You've already got the Watcher in your hands, haven't you? You just haven't provided it to Barbatos."
The killing machine said:
"Excuse my bluntness, but you are very ugly."
Although what he said seemed a bit nonsensical, suddenly turning from polite conversation into an attack on appearance, the Laughing Bat did not get angry.
He just listened indifferently.
"A gaping maw stretched to the ears, a dog collar on the head, vicious behavior, and a Robin Hood that's always crawling around you—you might not bring Robin Hood when you meet the Watcher, but that won't change your image much."
The laughing bat remained silent.
The killing machine concluded, "You don't look like a good person at all; you look more like a supervillain. With your appearance, only a madman would think you're a superhero capable of saving the entire multiverse, thus lending you his power and even betting almost entirely on you, hoping you'll save the entire multiverse."
The killing machine said, "You betrayed him ruthlessly, not only taking the energy without doing anything, but also trying to harm him, even though you didn't succeed."
He said, "But the surveillance man's trust in you is still too abnormal. No normal person would trust others this much, let alone the surveillance man. You must have stolen his trust in some way, obviously..."
"When I grabbed the Monitor's body downstream, I didn't betray him to Barbatos, thus gaining the Monitor's trust. I used sweet talk to make him believe that I was a Batman who was persecuted by Barbatos and forced to work for him, a Bruce with a sense of justice," the Batman Who Laughs said.
He couldn't sit still any longer. He stood up and clapped lightly: "Excellent reasoning, correct answer. You planned all this based on a mere conjecture? Oh, metal head, Bruce, I'll assume it was you."
He said, "But what makes you think you have something to trade with me? What makes you think you have anything that can threaten me and get the Watcher from me?"
"Because you need Steel Bones."
"What?"
The Laughing Bat paused for a moment.
"Steelbow is in your hands? You mean...?"
His first thought was to check Steel Bones, which he had hidden in the space opened up by the fifth-dimensional divine power, but he found that the other party had disappeared without a trace.
"Mother Box. The Batman Who Laughs. You were just mocking me for being Batman fused with Cyborg, have you forgotten? No one knows Cyborg better than me, not even you."
"I just stole Cyborg from you; your plan is missing a link."
"So now..."
"Let's talk about cooperation."
