Chapter 247 Bio-force Field Anomalies

Chapter 247 Bio-force Field Anomalies
After dealing with the commotion caused by Dr. Earthquake, Mark led Joey back to Dr. Earthquake's home.
From a polite standpoint, this interrupted family dinner should at least have an ending.
"Let me double-check."
Joey even had time to buy a skateboard from the other side of the world, where it was still daytime, as a souvenir for Oliver, who was no longer a baby:
"Your younger brother didn't suddenly go from 12 years old to 21 before we get back, did he?"
"Of course not. Oliver has already awakened superpowers, which means he is gradually transforming into a Varian."
Recalling this knowledge about the ages of the aliens, Mark's heart skipped a beat again, because it was also something his father, Almighty, had told him:
"The older a person from Planet Vision is, the slower they age."
Oliver's mother was a praying mantis from outer space, and the lifespan of his race was extremely short, even compared to humans.
Using the analogy of humans being "like a ephemeral mushroom, unaware of the seasons," might be an exaggeration, but it's quite apt for the aliens.
Because most of these mantis beings don't even live a full Earth year, let alone the Vitrum beings whose lifespan is measured in millennia.
Oliver, who is only one year old but has the appearance of a ten-year-old, will likely remain in puberty for a long time under the influence of his other half, the Varian bloodline, just like an ordinary human child.
"That's good."
Upon hearing this news, Joey breathed a sigh of relief. The skateboard he had given as a gift no longer needed to be upgraded; he could now replace it with an XBX or a 5090.
The two had deliberately slowed their flight, and during this time, Joey finally had the opportunity to learn from Mark about "Wittrum" and the story of the latter's father, All-Round Man.
This is practically a carbon copy of Joey's story of his "home" Krypton in every sense of the word.
A military empire obsessed with expansion, an infiltrator lurking on Earth waiting for his chance, and a 'traitor' willing to stand against his own people for the sake of these primitive people on Earth.
The moment All-Round Man confronted Mark, Mark only had two paths before him.
They either join forces with their father, Almighty, to complete his mission and help the Vitalik conquer Earth; or they choose to stand on Earth's side and be crushed by the Vitaliks along with other human rebels.
Mark chose the latter.
This was a battle with no suspense whatsoever. Omniman is one of the most powerful individuals on Earth and even in the entire universe. After losing the Seven of the Global Guardians, there is simply no superhero on Earth who can rival Omniman.
The inexperienced Mark suffered the worst beating of his life in that battle.
In the eyes of the All-Powerful, Mark's fight for humanity is simply incomprehensible.
The power of the aliens is too great. To them, humans are not even primitive, but at best a group of relatively intelligent ants.
The All-Powerful may love his wife and his son, but such love will ultimately vanish along with the Earth itself.
He just wanted Mark to realize this as soon as possible.
Whether it's love for Earth or love for humanity, it will eventually be worn away by the lifespan of the aliens, which can easily reach thousands of years.
In that case, what difference does it make whether the Earth is conquered today or five thousand years from now?
"Okay, Mark, that's enough."
Joey sped up the flight, interrupting Mark's narration: "We're almost home."
In the following story, Joey learns from the internet that after winning his battle with Mark, One-Man chose to abandon his mission and leave Earth.
Mark's face was already quite pale from recalling painful memories of the past; there was no need for him to dwell on them any longer.
"Maybe there are some things I shouldn't say, but," Joey felt that this Almighty was clearly not like the other aliens, "I think your father, Almighty, still loves you."
Judging from Mark's description alone, All-Round Man was strong enough to push away an asteroid about the size of Texas. Joey estimated in his mind that someone with that kind of strength would probably not need three punches to kill Mark in his current state.
"I know."
These words did little to comfort Mark, who was already feeling down; in fact, they were one of the sources of his distress.
"My father loves me. He's one of the greatest superheroes on Earth, having saved countless lives, but he's also a ruthless killer. Why?"
Most boys idolize their fathers when they are teenagers, and Mark is no exception, but the sense of disconnect brought about by the dual life of the all-powerful hero leaves the invincible young hero at a loss.
Moreover, the Vikings' conquest of Earth will not end because of Omni-Man's dereliction of duty. If they have their eyes on Earth, they will definitely conquer it and incorporate it into their empire.
If Omnipotent Hero doesn't do it that way, the planet will arrange for other planetary inhabitants to do it.
"Don't look so gloomy. At least you're doing much better than me—we'll see someday—"
Mark's similar situation made Joey naturally willing to help him. Unfortunately, psychological counseling was not Joey's forte; at best, he was good at using his fists to correct other people's wild thoughts.
Perhaps if the two of them talked to each other, unlucky Mark might find some balance in Joey's equally unfortunate past.
"I might be able to tell you my story. I am Superman." That's right, but not the Superman that the people in the Lost World think of me.
However, there wasn't time for that right now, and Joey and Mark soon arrived home together.
Seeing Mark push the door open and enter, his mother Debbie visibly breathed a sigh of relief. Her tightly furrowed brows instantly relaxed, and the lingering worry between her brows also lessened somewhat.
After confirming that her son was safe and sound, Debbie forced a smile at Joey, her guest:
"The food is still there; I'll go reheat it."
"No."
The earthquake was dealt with by the doctor in a short time, but Joey and Mark's chat in the air had taken up too much time. This meal was just a formality; for a Kryptonian like him, the concept of eating or not eating was no longer relevant.
Where is Oliver?
Joey took out the prepared skateboard, but couldn't find Mark's purple-skinned brother in the living room:
"I gave him a more suitable gift instead."
"Oliver, where have you been?!"
It is naturally more polite to receive a gift in person. Mark's mother, being Asian, paid particular attention to this aspect of home education. After searching for a long time with Mark, they finally found Oliver in a crevice behind the stairs.
"I don't want to go there!"
Unlike his usual lively and energetic self, Oliver now cowered in this secluded corner, refusing to go out and meet Joey, or accept the skateboard he had always wanted.
"I don't like him anymore, he's scary!"
"What nonsense are you talking about! Joey saved our lives!"
Debbie reached out and scooped Oliver, who was floating in the air, into her arms. She found Nolan's son shivering uncontrollably, his body almost as cold as the outside temperature. She quickly patted him gently to comfort him.
Are you sick? Where does it hurt?
This unexpected situation left Mark completely bewildered. As he had mentioned before, his younger brother was the son of Nolan, the All-Powerful, and a Mantis from another planet. His physical structure differed slightly from that of aliens and humans, and he had no idea how to treat him if he fell ill.
"What should I do? Should I call Cecil?"
Just as Mark was at his wit's end and about to call Cecil, Joey suddenly realized something.
He put down his skateboard, immediately took off vertically, flew away from Mark's house, and ascended into the stratosphere.
Before long, Mark, having confirmed the situation, caught up and let Joey know he was safe.
"Oliver is back to normal. He said thank you for the gift."
After thanking them, the question immediately followed: "What happened?"
"I want to know too."
Previously, the insects in the underground caves would avoid Joey at all costs, and now Mark's younger brother is doing the same. Perhaps these kinds of creatures have a more acute survival instinct than humans and aliens, and have noticed something that even Joey himself has not been able to perceive.
With his five fingers spread out in front of him, Joey carefully observed his own biofield for the first time and found that it was indeed different from what he remembered:
Kryptonians' biofield is the outward manifestation of cellular energy leakage under yellow sunlight, and under normal circumstances, it is like a low-powered night light that is neither too bright nor too dim.
Only when using their abilities in combat will the strength of their external bio-force field increase dramatically as the energy of the Kryptonian's own cells bursts forth.
However, such an increase is not without reason. Even if Joey lifted the Earth in an instant, the strength of the bio-force field would change in sync with the increase in his exertion, and there would still be a reasonable growth curve.
The current situation is that the wave frequency of the bio-force field is completely disordered.
If we had to use an analogy, the changes in the strength of the bio-force field in the past were reflected in the form of a function, and whether it was an increase or a decrease, it was more like an exponential function curve.
The current bio-force field is like an irregular, jagged function; whether it increases or decreases, it is accompanied by huge fluctuations.
This didn't actually hinder Joey's combat performance; in fact, Joey felt that the change made him even better at fighting.
And it is even more threatening.
Considering that Joey's own core is not simply Kryptonian, the messages emanating from his biofield radiation would likely be a deadly threat involving life and death in the subconscious of some species with keen "sixth sense".
This explains why the insects and Mark's brother inexplicably fell into fear and became stiff.
From a biological perspective, almost all organisms trigger a series of complex defense/attack response mechanisms when they perceive a threat.
This is true of these giant insects, and it is also true of Mark's brother Oliver, and even of Joey, whose biofield radiation pattern is now undergoing a sharp change.
The problem is that this makes no sense at all. What kind of huge threat in this world could trigger an aggressive defensive response in one's subconscious?
Unless it's "about time."
The worried Joey didn't answer the invincible young hero's question, but simply sent him away under the night sky as quickly as possible:
"It's time to go home."
