Chapter 306: The Aftermath of the Interstellar Trial
Chapter 306: The Aftermath of the Interstellar Trial
Wagner roared and charged at the Arbiter, drawing his attention, while Selena quickly adjusted her energy device to support Ares. Ares gripped his rune sword, gathering all his strength, and charged straight for the core of the rift.
The Arbiter, sensing Ares's intentions, roared in anger and tried his best to stop him. However, under the cover of Selena and Wagner, Ares successfully approached the core of the rift, and the runic sword burst forth with a dazzling light, piercing fiercely into the energy channels.
As the runic sword pierced the core of the rift, a deafening roar erupted throughout the control room. The Star Ring Rift began to tremble violently, and the extradimensional energy within rapidly collapsed. The Arbiter let out a piercing scream as his body gradually disintegrated in the energy collapse, eventually turning into dust and dissipating into the air.
The collapse of the rift triggered a powerful shockwave, sending Ares, Selena, and Wagner flying and crashing to the ground. However, when they rose again, they found that the energy fluctuations of Ring City were gradually returning to normal, and the threat of the rift had finally been completely eliminated.
Sophia and Kane led the Guardians to the control room and smiled with relief when they saw that the three were safe and sound.
"You did it," Sofia said softly, tears welling in her eyes.
Ares gripped his rune sword, his gaze profound: "The rift has been closed, but the balance of the universe remains fragile. Our battle... is not over yet."
Wagner laughed and patted the two on the shoulder: "No matter how many monsters come in the future, we're ready!"
Selena smiled and nodded: "The guardian's mission will never end."
The Ring Rift was successfully sealed, the remnants of the Arbiters were completely wiped out, and order was restored to Ring City. However, the unease in Ares, Selena, and Wagner's hearts did not dissipate. They knew that the end of every crisis often meant that a deeper threat was brewing.
“We have thwarted the conspiracy of the Lord of the Star Abyss and the Arbiter, but I still feel... it’s not over yet.” Selena sat at the control panel of the spaceship, staring at the star field on the star map that was gradually returning to calm, her brows furrowed.
Wagner leaned against the bulkhead, his fingers tightening slightly on his battle axe: "Perhaps we're just too tired, Selena. After so many battles, we deserve a rest."
Ares did not respond immediately. He stood by the porthole, gazing intently into the depths of space. Suddenly, the spaceship's communication system emitted a piercing alarm, and a familiar yet cold voice echoed within the cabin.
"Guardians Ares, Selena, and Wagner, you have violated the highest laws of the universe by interfering with the multidimensional order. You are hereby summoned by the Interstellar Tribunal to proceed to the Eternal Star Court for your final judgment."
"The Interstellar Tribunal?!" Wagner sat bolt upright, his expression changing drastically. "Didn't we already pass their trials? Why are they causing trouble again?"
Selena's face also turned pale: "This is not an ordinary summoning signal... This is the final judgment. This time, we may be facing an existence even more terrifying than the Lord of the Star Abyss."
Ares slowly turned around, his gaze as sharp as a blade: "Whatever their intentions, we must face them. Adjust the ship's course, target—Eternal Star Court."
The Eternal Star Court, located at the edge of the universe, is the core of the Interstellar Tribunal. Here, the constraints of time and space are transcended; legend has it that the most ancient laws of the universe were formed here, and the fate of any living being can be altered by the judgments rendered here.
As the spaceship entered the realm of the Eternal Star Court, the surrounding starry sky seemed to freeze, and the flow of time became blurred. The entire star field was covered by a massive golden magic circle, and in the center of the circle floated a transparent, colossal palace, like the heart of the universe, radiating an irresistible pressure.
“The energy here… is even stronger than what we encountered in the Star Abyss,” Selena said softly, her eyes filled with undisguised awe. “This is not just a judgment ground, but more like… a manifestation of the laws of the universe.”
Wagner snorted coldly, his battle axe spinning in his hand: "No matter what kind of law it is, if it dares to make arbitrary judgments, we'll smash it!"
Ares's gaze was sharp, his voice calm and firm: "We must find out why they summoned us again. There must be a bigger secret behind this."
The spaceship slowly landed on the main platform of the Eternal Star Court. The three stepped onto the golden stone slab and entered the Hall of Judgment.
The interior of the Trial Hall was spacious and solemn, with ancient cosmic runes engraved on the surrounding walls, emitting a faint light. In the center of the hall, three judges floated, their bodies shrouded in heavy black robes, their faces hidden in deep shadows, as if they were one with the universe itself.
“Guardians Ares, Selena, and Wagner,” the lead judge spoke, his voice low and cold, like the tolling of death bells echoing in the air. “You have arbitrarily interfered with the laws of the multidimensional world, disrupting the natural evolution of the Star Abyss and the Rift. You will now face your final judgment.”
Ares calmly met the judge's gaze, his voice firm: "Everything we've done is to protect the universe. If this is considered a crime, then aren't your laws far too cruel?"
The judge's voice was unwavering: "The balance of the universe requires no emotion, only order. Your actions have disrupted this order, and you must pay the price."
Wagner stepped forward angrily, his battle axe humming in his hand: "What can you guys do besides preach? Do you really think you can decide the fate of the universe?"
Selena held Wagner down, looked up at the Inquisitor, and calmly said, "If you truly care about the order of the universe, you should know that the power of the Abyss and the Rift has long surpassed the scope of natural evolution. We are merely correcting a mistake that was about to destroy everything."
The judge was silent for a moment, then said in a low voice, "There is no use in arguing. Your fate will be revealed in the Mirror of Destiny."
At the judge's command, a massive Mirror of Fate rose in the center of the courtroom. Its surface was as black as ink, as if it could reflect the deepest fears and truths of the soul.
“You will face your deepest fears and desires,” the judge said coldly. “Only by passing the trial of the Mirror of Fate can you prove your innocence.”
Ares, Selena, and Wagner are enveloped by the energy of the Mirror of Fate and instantly pulled into an unfamiliar space. In this space, the boundaries of time and space disappear, and they are forced to confront the shadows and fears deep within their hearts.
Ares stood in endless darkness, surrounded by nothingness. He suddenly realized he was all alone; all his companions had vanished, and the figures of Selena and Wagner were fading from his memory.
