Chapter 95 Nighttime Exposed! Chapter 1 Defense Against the Dark Arts Lesson!
Chapter 95 Nighttime Exposed! Chapter 1 Defense Against the Dark Arts Lesson!
After leaving Filchner, Dudley returned to the Gryffindor boys' dormitory and found that Ron was already awake.
Seeing Dali return from outside the dormitory looking travel-worn and wearing a robe instead of pajamas, the red-haired brat guessed something. His little eyes were full of amazement, and he asked with great curiosity:
"Dali, did you go out for a night stroll?"
"hold head high!"
Dali casually agreed, sounding quite self-righteous.
“Then take me with you next time!” Ron’s eyes shone even brighter, his face full of excitement. “Fred and George have been bragging to me about their nighttime outings, and I’ve been wanting to try it myself for a while now.”
"No...no, you can't! Ron, going out at night...it's against school rules!"
Before Dudley could reply, Neville, still sleepy and just getting out of bed, stammered and timidly refuted Ron's bold idea.
Clearly, Neville took a lot of courage to say that rebuttal to his friend.
Ron's face fell immediately, and he said in a low voice, "It's not a big deal to go out at night once in a while! Dudley has already done it."
“I’m a teaching assistant, Ron,” Dudley began. “Although I haven’t been a teaching assistant yet, the restrictions are still fewer than for regular students.”
"Understood, Assistant Professor Dursley."
Children's love and hate come quickly. Ron had just been refuted by Neville, and then he heard Dudley say that. He was unhappy and said something in a drawn-out, slightly sarcastic tone.
Dudley wasn't annoyed by this and changed the subject: "However, if you sneak out for a night stroll, I won't stop you."
Hearing this, Ron's happiness returned, and he said excitedly, "I knew it, Dudley, you're not as boring as Neville."
Dudley didn't respond to Ron, but turned to Neville, whose expression was slightly embarrassed, and said:
“Neville, you’re not wrong either. Following the rules is a virtue. Pointing out your friend’s mistake is a sign of courage. For that, I’ll give Gryffindor two points.”
Neville was stunned by these words, and Ron was stunned as well.
Although they knew that Headmaster Dumbledore had given Dudley the power to add or subtract points, they were still deeply shocked to see their roommate use this power like a professor for the first time.
How can you legally change our final grades when we are all roommates?
Simo, who was lying on the wooden bed next to him, was also woken up by Dali Jiafen's 'reasoning'.
"Divide? What divide?" Simo asked, still confused, grasping at the key word.
"It's nothing. You guys get up, wash up, and get ready for class. Let's earn some House Points for Gryffindor!"
Dudley chuckled softly. He had managed to wake Ron, Neville, and Seamus, but he himself fell asleep instantly on the bed.
He had no classes this morning, so he could take a nap for more than an hour.
Harry, who had stayed up half the night, was still asleep, fast asleep on the wooden bed next to Dudley.
Ron and his two companions looked at each other, glanced at the time, and then promptly went back to bed for a nap.
……
On the second day of formal classes, all members of Harry's dormitory were late, by ten minutes.
Fortunately, the first class in Gryffindor this morning was still Herbalism, and the gentle Professor Sprout didn't make things too difficult for them.
They only deducted one point and let the matter drop.
Logically speaking, as a teaching assistant and a member of all four colleges, Dudley should not have to follow a fixed schedule. He could teach whatever courses he wanted and could even apply to teach a new course himself.
But during the first week of school, he decided not to make an exception and to follow the Gryffindor students and complete all eight major courses at Hogwarts.
Once we have a real understanding and experience, we can then formulate subsequent plans and discuss with Dumbledore where to begin with the educational reforms at Hogwarts.
There are three herbalism classes a week, one each from Monday to Wednesday. Except for Monday, which is a practical class in the herb greenhouse in the early morning, Tuesday and Wednesday are theoretical classes in the castle classroom during the first period in the morning.
Even in theoretical classes that involved cramming from textbooks, Professor Sprout's lectures were always engaging and entertaining. He would occasionally bring out a pot of magical herbs and have the students pass it around in class to help them remember them.
In Dudley's view, Professor Sprout was undoubtedly a very competent teacher of herbal medicine, a hardworking and capable gardener.
After the Herbology class, the first-year Gryffindor students excitedly and hurriedly moved on to the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom.
Compared to the relatively dry herbalism, they were much more looking forward to Defense Against the Dark Arts, especially since this year's professor was still that beautiful and enchanting mysterious witch.
Dali mingled among the group, his expression calm yet solemn.
He was about to formally confront Professor Eccles Hunter, the 'perfectly normal' one.
I hope she can bring me a special surprise.
Professor Ecclesia was a very punctual professor. Before the Gryffindor students even arrived at the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom, she had already prepared the teaching materials and was waiting there.
In this lesson, Gryffindor students attended together with Hufflepuff students.
After everyone entered the classroom, they saw Professor Ecclesia, wearing a dark red wizard's hat, fiddling with a large rectangular object covered with a red cloth.
Judging from its appearance, it should be a large cage.
From time to time, the sound of striking the iron bars could be heard from inside the cage, causing the red cloth covering it to tremble.
Most of the students were drawn to the novelty the female professor had prepared.
Dudley's gaze, however, was subtly drawn to the pointed wizard's hat worn by the female professor.
There's no other way; we must learn from past mistakes and take heed of future ones.
Who knows if the female professor was suddenly ambushed by Voldemort? Is that wizard hat similar to the garlic-smelling headscarf that Quirrell wears?
"It seems everyone is here, so I won't take attendance! Let's begin the lesson!"
Please turn to page five of your book, *Dark Powers: A Guide to Self-Defense*. Today we'll learn about a very noteworthy dark creature.
As Dudley pondered, a series of very pleasant female voices came from Professor Eckeris's mouth, and the previously noisy classroom immediately quieted down.
It must be admitted that this female professor is indeed quite approachable.
Her lectures were like coaxing a child, much like the kindergarten teacher in Dali's previous life.
The so-called Defense Against the Dark Arts course does not focus on learning advanced methods of countering and breaking dark magic spells.
Instead, it introduces young wizards to the various dark creatures of the magical world, some strong and some weak, and how to defend against them using methods and spells.
Most of the course content focused on how to deal with dark creatures that were of average strength but had obvious weaknesses.
Because of powerful magical creatures like dragons and thunderbirds, ordinary wizards cannot defeat them with tricky spells; they can only rely on multiple people attacking them or having a strong person assist them.
At this moment, Professor Eckeris is talking about a common dark creature that is extremely widespread in Northern Europe—the Red Hat.
