Chapter 32 From Iron Can to Gold Can: A Look Towards the Future!
Chapter 32 From Iron Can to Gold Can: A Look Towards the Future!
4 Privet Drive, Dursley House.
The damaged wooden door and frame remain unchanged.
A gust of wind blew by, and you could see half of the door panel swaying back and forth, which looked quite pitiful.
"Harry, watch my pronunciation and gestures!"
Taking advantage of the fact that no one was around, Dudley raised Dee's wand and pointed it at his own front door, "Restore to normal!"
A flash of pure white light appeared, and the wooden door and frame seemed to have reversed time. Wood chips and scraps flew up and stuck to the door panel, while the door frame straightened back into place from its cracked state.
In no time, the Dursleys' front door was completely intact.
Dudley's spell teaching went smoothly, and he succeeded on the first try.
Harry watched all of this intently, silently taking notes.
"I remember Hagrid knocked a hole in the living room ceiling when he got up this morning. You'll have to fix it in a bit!"
Teacher Dali assigned homework.
“Yes, cousin!” Harry answered readily.
At that moment, two familiar voices came from inside the house through the repaired wooden door.
"Listen! My good son is back!"
"Dada, my darling, and Harry, you're finally back!"
Vernon and Petunia ran to the door, calling out to Dudley and Harry.
They didn't leave the house all day, and didn't even feel like calling a repairman to fix the front door and ceiling.
Vernon took a day off to stay with his wife, anxiously awaiting the return of his son and nephew from the dangerous magical world.
Seeing his son appear before him unharmed, he finally felt relieved.
After seeing their family, Dudley and Harry tacitly avoided mentioning the danger they had encountered that day, not wanting to cause the Dursleys too much worry.
In addition, Dudley had finally managed to inspire his parents to learn magic and become wizards, so he wouldn't throw cold water on their enthusiasm and scare them back into their timid state.
The family happily entered the house.
In the living room on the first floor, under Dudley's guidance, Harry, also using Dygo's wand, cast a repair spell with great relish and fixed the damage to the living room ceiling.
As for why Dygo's wand had to be used, it was because the Ministry of Magic did not allow underage wizards to use magic in areas where Muggles were active.
The new wands purchased from Ollivanders wand shop contain a peculiar tracking mechanism called 'tracking threads,' which the Ministry of Magic can use to monitor and control the location of underage wizards casting spells.
The 'trace' will automatically dissipate after the master turns eighteen, so the wand of an adult wizard will not be detected.
To avoid unnecessary trouble, Dudley had no choice but to let Mr. Dugger's wand continue to serve its purpose, as a tool for him and Harry to practice spells at home.
Anyway, Mr. Digg's wand isn't too picky about its owner.
As they watched Harry cast spells with the stick, Vernon and Petunia showed some fluctuations in their expressions, but they weren't too surprised, because they knew Harry was a natural wizard, and they weren't too resistant, because they had already changed their views on wizards and magic.
But the Dursleys were no longer able to remain calm when they saw the golden light dancing on their son's fingertips.
Dudley found a few useless discarded tin cans in the storeroom, and without using a wand, he simply placed his hand on them. A flash of golden light appeared, and the dusty, rusty tin cans transformed into gleaming pure gold cans.
"The tin can turned into... gold?!"
Vernon gasped, his face filled with disbelief.
Penny was also astonished. She never expected that Dudley would acquire such extraordinary talent after just one trip to the wizarding world.
"This is magic? Magic can actually do this... If I had known it was like this before, I probably wouldn't have been so resistant to wizards."
Vernon picked up a gold pot and examined it closely, muttering to himself. Suddenly, something occurred to him, and he quickly put the pot down, looking at Dudley with concern, and asked:
"Dali baby, tell me the truth, won't turning into gold like this affect your health or lifespan?"
Upon hearing this, Penny's heart skipped a beat, and she quickly looked at her son, hoping for an answer.
"Of course not! There are no side effects, it's just that you can't change too much at once, a maximum of 100 ounces every seven days."
Dudley laughed and took out a handful of gold dust that he had transformed during the magical upheaval in the underground vault from his coat pocket, and put it into a gold jar.
"100 ounces is quite a lot! And we get it every week. Our family will soon be top-tier millionaires!"
Hearing that it wouldn't have a negative impact on his obedient son, Vernon resumed his obsession with gold.
"Don't make a fuss, Mom and Dad. Not just any wizard can do this. We must keep it a secret and make our fortune quietly!"
Dali reminded him, "Dad, you can actually quit your job at the drilling company. In the future, no matter which country we go to, we can live a wealthy life."
"Dudley, you mean...you and Harry aren't going to Hogwarts?"
Penny's long-standing interest in gossip has honed her keen sensitivity to verbal information.
"We'll make a decision tomorrow!" Dali didn't hide his thoughts. "Tomorrow, we'll have a special guest visiting our house. Mom, you used to correspond with this guest using owls when you were little, so you were pen pals."
"What?!" Penny was even more surprised. "Honey, you mean Dumbledore is coming?"
She still remembers the regret from her childhood and has never forgotten this name.
"That's right!"
Dudley said to his parents with a serious expression, "Tomorrow, Harry and I will talk to Dumbledore. If he can reach an agreement with me on some things, we won't need to move, and Harry and I will go to Hogwarts as planned."
If we can't reach an agreement, we'll have to consider our trip abroad.
And Mom, get ready, I've become a wizard, and soon you'll be able to fulfill your childhood dream!
"You mean, I'm going to become a wizard too?"
Penny was filled with mixed feelings, a mixture of excitement and confusion. Although Dudley had mentioned it before, she didn't have much hope for it.
But now, with Dali's living example right in front of her, she had no choice but to believe it.
"Dali, my darling, what about me? Me too!" Vernon's mindset had completely reversed, and now he was even vying to become the wizard he had once despised.
"I'm sorry, Dad! I can't be sure when it will be completed for you to become a wizard. It depends on the outcome of my negotiations with Dumbledore tomorrow. If all goes well, you can become wizards with Mom. If not, you may have to wait a few years."
"Dali said with a hint of apology."
“Oh, it’s alright! My son, Daddy’s not in a hurry, Daddy can wait.” Vernon made a very magnanimous statement.
Even after returning from the magical world, the Dursleys' conversations remained incredibly harmonious and smooth, filled with love and understanding among family members.
Everyone supported Dudley's decision, as always.
As evening approached and a sumptuous dinner was enjoyed, Harry's eleventh birthday was drawing to a close.
Dali took stock of the available resources in his bedroom, made some careful plans, and then drifted off to sleep.
Tomorrow, an unknown tomorrow, another fierce battle awaits him!
