Chapter 33 Transfiguration Club
Chapter 33 Transfiguration Club
Two beautiful sights have appeared in the Gryffindor common room.
Two identical red-haired figures were hung in the corner, which silenced the rumors and fictional stories that had been circulating in the Gryffindor common room these past few days.
Percy made no attempt to plead for his two brothers; after all, George and Fred were thick-skinned and shameless, so a little slap on the wrist wouldn't matter.
Ron huddled in the shadows of the corner staircase leading to the boys' dormitory, watching quietly. He had been putting together quite a few short plays these past few days.
This has led to many versions of the story of "the dark wizard bullying the new professor and the evil Ryan humiliating Quirrell".
In Ron's view, Ryan left the Gryffindor common room after chatting with Percy, Hermione, and Harry for a while, which relieved Ron.
He wanted to say something to express his dissatisfaction with Ryan's free access to other college common rooms.
After the words he had prepared reached his throat, he saw George and Fred, who were still laughing and joking in the corner, and suddenly lost interest. He went back to his bed in the dormitory, lay down, and stared at the ceiling.
On his way back, Ryan was thinking about the matter of modifying the armband into a "mobile magic source + mobile phone".
In the magical world where communication relies on owls, the convenience of having a mobile phone is self-evident.
Communication has always been of paramount importance, especially for magic, which is already mysterious in the eyes of the world. Using owls all the time would seem very un-magical!
He hadn't originally planned to put the project of modifying the armbands in the last semester, because it would inevitably set off a prelude to a revolution in the magical world.
Just as Apparition eliminated the distance between wizards, giving them great mobility.
Advanced communication capabilities will inevitably shorten the distance between wizards, allowing wizards of all ages in every corner of the world to connect at any time. The resulting impact is something that Ryan cannot imagine or stop.
Faced with the overwhelming force of all the wizards gathered together, even if Merlin jumped out, he couldn't stop it, unless he tricked all the wizards into becoming sharks.
But after hearing that Hermione planned to camp out all over the castle with the upperclassmen from the Adventurers' Club to answer her questions, and especially that she planned to write to Ryan to ask, he felt that the "sleeve phone" was necessary.
Imagine an owl receiving a letter in its owlhouse, carefully confirming the address, and then, to the bewilderment of its colleagues, flying into the auditorium and dropping the letter no more than ten meters from the sender...
Ryan felt sorry for the poor owl.
In order to care for the owl's mental health, he planned to visit the library during his spare time while crafting external magic devices to see which spells and rituals could achieve long-distance communication.
He planned to promote it among professors and adventurers' clubs after it was completed, and wait for the right time to replace the Owl Post Office.
"To achieve universality, we need to lower the manufacturing threshold and reduce the purchasing costs for wizards. I remember that the Transfiguration Charm can be used for text communication... but it doesn't have any newer functions, such as video calls..." He planned to ask Professor Flitwick when he had time. As a master of Charms, there were almost no spells that Professor Flitwick didn't know.
He was very curious about what it would be like to see wizards who could generate their own energy talking and video chatting with mysterious communicators.
In the end, all I can say is, "It really saves on electricity bills and doesn't even use data."
Evening, in the Transfiguration classroom.
Ryan came here as Professor McGonagall had instructed.
Professor McGonagall told Ryan that the location of the Transfiguration Club overlapped with the Transfiguration Club, and Ryan needed to find a way to enter the Transfiguration Club himself. She and the other members would be waiting for him in the real Transfiguration Club.
Ryan didn't see this as a test from Professor McGonagall, because she already recognized Ryan's magical abilities when she designed and created the barrier to protect the Philosopher's Stone, so there was no need for this extra effort.
He could only interpret this as a welcome ceremony for joining the Transfiguration Club.
"Among the wizards I've had good relationships with, someone once told me that Transfiguration is a field for geniuses, requiring a wildly imaginative mind." Ryan observed the Transfiguration classroom closely for the first time, speaking as if addressing an audience: "At first, I didn't understand, until the alchemist who crafted this ring for me told me..."
"The Seamless Stretch Charm should be categorized under Transfiguration."
He sat in the back row of the Transfiguration classroom, showing off the ring he was wearing, and spoke to the empty corner, his voice echoing in the empty classroom: "Seamless Stretching Charm, Transfiguration..."
"Yes, Transfiguration is about transforming existing things, and no one has specified the objects of Transfiguration."
"Just like the Seamless Expansion Spell, which is a spell specifically designed to deform a space, I think that in the field of transfiguration, the ways to deform space should be diverse and unrestricted."
"What do you think, Professor McGonagall?"
Professor McGonagall's voice came from the corner: "Excellent observation, brilliant remarks, Mr. Lane, you've earned another five points for Ravenclaw."
Ryan laughed and said, "I just hope that the points I gain and the points I lose will be balanced."
As he spoke, he got up and walked towards the corner. Just before he hit the wall, he felt a slight, apparition-like sensation. Then he found himself in a room with a long table covered in velvet in the center. Seven people were sitting around the table.
Good evening, Professor McGonagall.
"Good evening, Mr. Lane." Professor McGonagall gestured to one of the empty seats. "Please have a seat."
Ryan glanced around and found himself at home in the Transfiguration Club. He noticed that there was only one person who wasn't a member of the Adventurers' Club.
This person's name is: Minerva McGonagall.
With the thought, "Am I the master of this Transfiguration Club, or are you the master?" in mind, Ryan sat down next to Penelope and whispered, "You're in the Transfiguration Club too?"
"You didn't ask," Penelope said, tidying up the items in front of her.
Once Ryan was settled, applause erupted from the Transfiguration Club.
"As expected of Ryan, he figured out the location of the Transfiguration Club in no time," said the Hufflepuff seventh-year student. "None of us could figure it out on our own. We were all wandering around the Transfiguration classroom for half an hour before Professor McGonagall pulled us in."
"You flatter me, senior. I was just lucky."
After Ryan greeted the members of the Transfiguration Club and a circle of Adventurers Club members, he left.
Professor McGonagall, the nominal owner of the place, said, "Don't be so formal, Mr. Lane. Even though you are the last of these people to join the Transfiguration Club, I believe that with your Transfiguration skills, you are more than qualified to be my assistant."
Ryan's constant use of "I dare not" and "I was lucky" along with his occasional "You flatter me" fully embodies the excellent qualities of the new generation of Hogwarts students: their lack of ambition for fame and fortune, their humility and modesty, their respect for teachers, and their lofty moral character.
"Since Mr. Ryan says that the Seamless Stretching Charm should be classified as Transfiguration, and the targets of Transfiguration are infinitely possible, then let's discuss the targets of Transfiguration this time..."
As Professor McGonagall began her lecture, the members of the Adventurers' Club started exchanging ideas. Ryan suddenly realized that his Adventurers' Club members were truly remarkable people, ahead of their time in many ways.
This gave him a new idea: to form a research and development team! He would be responsible for tackling the difficult problems, while others would focus on reducing costs, increasing efficiency, and refining the solutions and processes.
He plans to bring this up at the Adventurers' Club meeting next Friday.
"Mr. Lane," Professor McGonagall interrupted his thoughts, "what limitations do you see in Transfiguration?"
