Chapter 15: What Needs to Be Done

Chapter 15: What Needs to Be Done

A gust of wind blew by.

That's at least how the police officers who had surrounded the hospital felt.

There was just a sudden gust of wind.

It started out very weak, but then the wind grew stronger and stronger, to the point that it was hard to open one's eyes.

"Damn it, where did this wind come from?!"

George raised his arm to shield his eyes, and the idea came to mind.

This action caused him to gradually lose Spider-Man's sight.

As he closed his eyes completely, he saw Spider-Man's last image and heard Spider-Man's last voice.

"I'm sorry, officer. If I had the chance, I would be more than happy to explain to you, but for now... I'll have to clean up this mess."

Spider-Man's figure seemed to be stretched out in an instant, like watching a movie. The filming technique was dazzling. Finally, a dark shadow pounced, and Spider-Man had disappeared.

"..."

George lowered his arm, trying to find Spider-Man.

Where are they?!

"have no idea."

"You mean a living person vanished into thin air right under the noses of dozens of police officers?!"

"Judging from the results... yes, but the sir just stirred up a gust of wind..."

George said unhappily, "Yes, I understand. A sudden gust of wind blocked our view."

"..."

The young officer glanced at his superior, then looked into the hospital, where deafening roars still echoed, sending chills down his spine.

"What do we do?"

"What do we do?" George composed himself. "We're police officers, not some people's henchmen."

Knowing that his superior was right, the young officer wanted to argue, but seeing George's face, which looked like he had eaten shit, he decided to swallow his words.

"As you wish, sir."

......

......

......

"roar----"

A monstrous roar sent chills down his spine.

He glanced back at the corridor behind him, where his once familiar friend had now transformed into a monster covered in green scales.

Its pupils are deep yellow and vertical, and it is much taller than ordinary people. A thick tail swings back and forth behind it.

"Don't do this, Ray, it's me... your friend Sam!"

Sam shouted and ran, using all his strength to run down the corridor to avoid being caught by the lizard monster behind him.

However, he committed the biggest taboo in chase scenes.

That was when I looked back.

Turning around, he saw the monster right in front of him, his legs went weak, and he immediately fell to the ground.

Just as the ferocious hand was about to touch him, a young voice suddenly rang out from behind.

"Hey buddy, I think you should get your nails trimmed before you think about making any physical contact with anyone!"

Spider-Man shot a web at the lizard monster's back, then yanked his arm, transmitting tremendous force through the web.

boom!

The lizard monster lost its balance and fell backward.

Seeing this, Spider-Man quickly stepped forward and used several more strands of spider silk to stick to the monster's hands and feet, temporarily immobilizing it.

"Got you!"

Spider-Man jumped onto the chest of the monster, which was several sizes larger than himself, then took out a syringe and injected it into the monster's neck!

"It has to be useful, it has to be useful, it has to be useful..."

Spider-Man's muttering voice reached the monster's ears, and whether it was because the voice was jarring or because it had been inexplicably injected with a needle, it reacted violently!

Wow!

The lizard monster began to fight back desperately, almost causing Spider-Man to lose his footing.

Pfft pfft—

Two more strands of spider silk shot out from her wrist, continuing to control the monster's movements.

Spider-Man held the monster's head down firmly, but moved forward a few inches himself.

However, the scene looked rather strange, as if he was about to share a kiss of the century with this monster.

What, "Pretty Man and the Beast"?

Of course, these are all Oz's ideas.

He stood on Spider-Man's shoulder and said, "Looks like the temporary antidote is working."

Spider-Man nodded; he had already noticed the lizard monster's scales around its eyes were degenerating.

"Luckily it worked, otherwise I would have caused new trouble."

After learning of the riot at Brooklyn Veterans Hospital, Spider-Man quickly began researching an antidote in Connors' lab.

This surprised Oz quite a bit.

He thought the kid would rush to the veterans' hospital without stopping.

Unexpectedly, he was very clear-headed and took the lead in starting the treatment related to the antidote on the spot.

Perhaps it was Peter's amazing talent in the field of science, or perhaps it was his sense of responsibility, but the antidote was made faster than Oz had imagined.

"How did you come up with that idea?" Oz asked at the time.

"What? Oh, you mean the antidote? I thought of reversing the formula when you said Dr. Connors might turn into a giant lizard."

That's how Peter responded.

"No, no, no, I mean, why did you think of making an antidote first instead of rushing to the scene?"

"...I guess Uncle Ben taught me that."

"He even taught that?!"

Realizing that Oz had misunderstood, Peter quickly explained.

"No, what I mean is, he talked to me about the issue of responsibility. I was the one who passed the formula to Dr. Connors, so if something goes wrong, I'll bear the corresponding responsibility. That's why I considered that possibility beforehand, not to mention that you also mentioned this issue..."

"Moreover, it is more efficient to solve them all at once than to solve them one by one."

Oz covered his head after hearing this, wondering why this Spider-Man smelled so much like Batman.

"What if your inversion formula also malfunctions?"

"There won't be any problems," Spider-Man replied confidently at the time. "Because it's my responsibility."

"I must make it work!"

Even as the antidote was being injected into the lizardman's body, the kid kept muttering that it had to be effective.

......

Let's go back to the present.

Spider-Man?

Spider-Man heard the sound, turned around and saw that it was an ordinary person who had been chased by the lizard monster earlier.

Judging from his attire, he was probably a staff member of the veterans' hospital. After glancing at the name tag on the other person's chest, he became even more certain of this.

"Hey, are you okay?" Spider-Man asked.

Sam nodded, glanced at the green figure pinned beneath Spider-Man, and asked:

"What exactly is going on?"

"Well... Sam." Spider-Man slowly stood up, and as if afraid that the lizard monster beneath him would go berserk again, he added a few more strands of spider silk.

"Can you answer my question before I answer yours?" Spider-Man asked.

"certainly!"

Sam was naturally willing, after all, the guy in front of him had just saved his life!

"How many more people have turned into this?" Spider-Man pointed to the 'white cocoon' that was gradually losing its monstrous features.

"There are fifteen people who participated in the vaccination..." Sam replied.

Spider-Man whispered, "Fourteen left..."

"What did you say?"

"fine."

Spider-Man shook his head, then pointed in a direction to Sam, "You can get out of here this way. There are already rescuers waiting outside. I checked the way here, there's no danger."

"What are you going to do?"

"Do what I have to do."
