Chapter 29 Arrival
Chapter 29 Arrival
Harry, who was ahead, also noticed something amiss and whispered to Hagrid on the ship next to him, "That blond freshman doesn't seem to be in any real danger. He looks like he's being toyed with by something."
After Harry's reminder, Hagrid also felt something was wrong. Everyone else on the boat had climbed back up, so why was he the only one left going up and down in the water?
Hagrid looked around and observed for a long time but couldn't figure out who was casting a spell. He could only say in bewilderment, "There's no trace of magical energy anywhere. I guess that kid has provoked some magical creature in the Black Lake."
After tormenting Malfoy for a while, Chu Yang had vented his anger, so he released the power of Wood Release and freed Malfoy.
Malfoy immediately felt the force gripping his legs disappear, and with all his might, he swam towards the small boat.
Seeing that the branches and vines that had entangled the ship had receded, Goyle and Crabbe carefully pulled the exhausted Malfoy back onto the ship.
"vomit!"
Malfoy, who had just lain down, began vomiting water in a heart-wrenching manner. Who knows what's in this lake? He had just drunk quite a lot, so the scene was rather miserable.
"I think the first place he'll go to when school starts is the infirmary. Hopefully, the medical staff there can help him." Hermione's expression was three parts sympathy and the rest was disdain.
Chu Yang nodded, smiling happily.
Hogwarts stands on a cliff, surrounded by water on three sides. The cave directly below is the entrance to the school's waterways, and its dark shape resembles the menacing mouth of a monster.
The young wizards gazed up at the school towering into the clouds atop the cliff, unable to suppress their gasps of amazement.
Only now do they have an objective understanding of the school they are going to attend, instead of just relying on written legends.
The young wizards truly felt that Hogwarts was the most magnificent and spectacular school in the history of magic, without exception!
The small boat drifted into the cave. After a brief period of darkness, the surroundings gradually brightened, and Chu Yang then saw that there was a dock deep inside the cave beneath the castle.
The new students disembarked in an orderly fashion, prompted by Hagrid, and then stood in groups.
Malfoy vomited so badly he was like a lump of mud and couldn't stand up. Goyle and Crabbe helped him up, and he looked dazed.
"He seems unlikely to attend tonight's Sorting Ceremony..."
Hagrid muttered something and led the students up a winding stone staircase.
The stone steps lead to a flat garden, and further ahead is the main entrance to Hogwarts.
At that moment, the gate opened, as if it had just welcomed a group of people in.
"Your seniors should have arrived by now. Go up the stairs and you'll see Professor McGonagall. Remember to be respectful," Hagrid reminded the freshmen before walking straight to Malfoy, scooping him up, and hoisting him onto his shoulder.
Malfoy had almost finished vomiting and was just starting to feel better when he smelled Hagrid's strong body odor and animal smells, and he immediately started vomiting again.
Chu Yang could vaguely see the green bile in the other party's eyes and began to reflect on whether he had gone too far.
"What a poor child, I have to take you to the infirmary right away." Hagrid shook his head with pity and strode away.
The remaining young wizards looked at each other, and then, following Hagrid's instructions, went up the steps. Before long, they saw a tall, slender witch with an old face and a serious expression.
"Welcome, new students, to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. I am Professor Minerva McGonagall, who will be teaching you Transfiguration, and I am also the Head of Gryffindor House and the Vice-Headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry."
Professor McGonagall wore a dark green robe, which made her indifferent expression appear even more serious. The freshmen stood in front of her, not daring to breathe.
"Your seniors, professors, and Headmaster Dumbledore are waiting for you inside, but you will need to participate in the Sorting Ceremony before the Opening Dinner begins."
"You will soon be assigned to different colleges where you will spend your seven years of study."
"The names of the four houses are: Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. Each house has its own glorious history and has produced outstanding wizards and witches."
"During your time at the college, you will attend classes with other students in the college, live in the college dormitories together, and spend your free time together in the college's common lounges."
"Your outstanding performance will earn you bonus points for your college, while any violation will deduct points. At the end of the year, the college with the highest score will receive the College Cup, which is a great honor. I hope that you will bring glory to your college no matter which college you are assigned to."
As Chu Yang listened to this familiar orientation speech, a playful smile appeared on his lips.
Chu Yang believed that no matter how many points Harry deducted from Gryffindor in the early stages, Dumbledore would eventually add them back for various reasons.
While Dumbledore may have intended to groom Harry Potter to be the savior, whatever the motive, such behavior was inherently unfair to the other houses.
Fortunately, Chu Yang had no interest in the so-called Academy Cup. He didn't care who won, as long as it didn't interfere with his research on magic.
After the orientation, Professor McGonagall was about to lead the students into the banquet hall when she caught a glimpse of water stains on Goyle and Crabbe out of the corner of her eye.
Professor McGonagall frowned and walked up to the two men. Goyle and Crabbe were so frightened that they were at a loss for what to do, as if they could hear Professor McGonagall scolding them at any moment.
Professor McGonagall, who seemed serious, asked in a gentle tone, "What happened to you? Did you fall into the lake on your way here?"
Professor McGonagall, who was just joking, noticed that Goyle and Crabbe were nodding cautiously.
"They can fall in like that?" Professor McGonagall looked incredulous. She had enchanted each boat, which not only made it automatically head to the dock in the cave, but also protected the students from falling into the lake.
"We encountered a monster!" Gore glanced at Chu Yang fearfully before explaining, "There's a monster in the lake attacking our boat. It kept dragging us into the lake before it stopped."
"A monster?" Professor McGonagall said in surprise, "That's impossible. The route you came from is not within the range of the magical creatures in the Black Lake."
"It's really Professor McGonagall! Goyle and I are fine, but Malfoy couldn't get on the ship. He was trapped in the water by that monster and drank a lot of lake water. He was just taken to the medical room." Crabbe shouted from the side, afraid that Professor McGonagall wouldn't believe them.
