Chapter 275 Dreamer
Chapter 275 Dreamer
Chapter 275 Dreamer
"If this line of thinking is really correct, then doesn't that mean that all our magical girls' previous combat experience was wrong?!"
Qin Nan's eyes widened.
"You're only just realizing it now?" Tang Zijun smiled.
I thought I was reckless enough back then, but I never expected that the magical girl was even more courageous than me.
"But actually, knowing this doesn't make any difference. Don't forget, no matter what rules the surface world sets, their goal is to collect negative energy. In other words, anyone who gets caught up in it will die."
"That's true." Qin Nan nodded. "Even if you can be careful not to break the rules along the way, the final result will still be being killed by the ruler. That outcome will not change."
"When you follow someone else's rules on someone else's turf, death is inevitable; the only difference is how long you live. Doesn't that also allow the prey to contribute more negative energy?"
"But this is a good thing too," Tang Cao suddenly said. "If we can utilize these rules, at least we can ensure safety from the start. Although it doesn't matter to us, the experts should be able to study much more, right?"
Listening to Tang Cao's words, everyone thought about it more and more and felt that they made more sense.
At this moment, Tang Zijun turned to look at Zhang Wei. "Have those experts already deciphered the rules of the surface world?"
"I don't know, but probably not. After all, they haven't confirmed whether the surface world has rules or not. It's just a guess. They need to determine it step by step, which will take a lot of time."
Making bold hypotheses and carefully verifying them is a habit of every scholar.
"That's great. We can take this opportunity to experiment. If there really are rules and strange tales in the surface world, then this will help those experts to verify them."
Qin Nan clapped her hands, then looked at Tang Zijun and asked, "Do you think we'll get more points if we help them this much?"
"What have you set your sights on this time?" Tang Zijun was already quite used to Qin Nan's self-assured label of "little money-grubber."
"I've got my eye on an Ekos Burning Soul, it's so cool." Qin Nan chuckled and raised an eyebrow at Tang Zijun.
Tang Zijun doesn't know if it's a "burning soul" brand, but she has heard of Ekos, which is supposedly one of the top motorcycle brands.
Sure enough, the allure of motorcycles was still too great for Qin Nan.
Not long after, the car drove onto the dirt road and, after passing three checkpoints, slowly came to a stop in front of a campsite made of blue convertible tops.
"We've arrived." Zhang Wei got out of the car first, then opened the car door for Tang Zijun. He was quite quick.
After the three got out of the car, the first thing they saw was a group of people dressed in the uniforms of the Bureau of Demonic Investigations, who were busy at work.
They were quite curious about Tang Zijun and her group, but none of them took the initiative to approach and talk to them. Detectives were not allowed to communicate with magical girls unless there were special circumstances; they were quite strict about it.
"The entrance to the surface world is in that open space over there," Zhang Wei said, pointing to a patch of wasteland not far ahead. "This used to be a railway, but it was demolished during renovations, and then it became deserted due to policy changes."
"Did they say how to get in? Don't tell me we're going to have to go in circles again," Tang Cao asked curiously, clinging to Tang Zijun's arm.
"You're going straight there?" Zhang Wei asked, looking somewhat puzzled. "It must be a long and tiring journey. Should we rest for a while, or get ready?"
"No need, we can rest inside." Qin Nan waved her hand, she was already a little impatient.
This wasn't the first time Zhang Wei had worked with Tang Zijun and the others. Although he knew they were quite efficient, their eagerness still surprised him.
Tang Zijun naturally understood why Qin Nan was so agitated. He looked at Zhang Wei and asked, "Can we just go in? Won't it interfere with your work or anything?"
"Oh, no, it's just that the outer world is more dangerous. Nobody knows what they might encounter inside, so we usually go in only after we've recovered to our best condition," Zhang Wei said.
"In that case, let's go straight in. Your driving skills are good, and the ride wasn't bumpy at all." Tang Zijun smiled calmly.
"That's fine too." Since the leader had said so, Zhang Wei naturally didn't say anything more. He didn't insist, but led the three of them into a tent.
There were four people inside the tent, all of whom appeared to be clerks. Zhang Wei walked to a table, took out a document, and handed it to Qin Nan.
"What's this?" Qin Nan blinked.
"This is the squad's operation data card. Besides your mission application on the Magical Girl app, we also need to submit a written report," Zhang Wei said truthfully. "Just treat it as normal procedure, it's just a signature. By the way, are you the captain of the Fantasy Society squad?"
"Well... it's her." Qin Nan thought for a moment, then turned and pointed at Tang Cao.
"Okay, I'll write this down." Zhang Wei didn't react much. Instead, he handed Qin Nan a pen, then turned around and sat down at the computer, his fingers tapping away.
"Please all sign your names, or you can just use your code names."
As Zhang Wei spoke, he took notes on the archives of the Utopian Society.
[Mission Acceptance Team: Fantasy Society]
Squad Leader: Bai
Number of team members: 2+1
[Quest Acceptance List: White (Team Leader) with Spirit Beast, Green (Team Member) with Spirit Beast...]
Zhang Wei's fingers suddenly stopped, and he looked up at Tang Zijun.
"Um... Boss, what's your code name?"
Tang Zijun raised an eyebrow upon hearing this; he genuinely hadn't grasped the meaning. "Didn't Deputy Director Chang provide a code name when he submitted the application?"
"Well." Zhang Wei's expression was a bit strange. "Deputy Director Chang did submit a code name for you, called 'Supreme God,' but it was rejected by the higher-ups, who said it needed to be rectified... and so... it's been blank ever since..."
Tang Zijun slapped herself on the forehead.
Qin Nan, who was standing next to him, burst out laughing, and even Xiao Bai covered his mouth with his little paws and rolled around on the ground.
"Ahem..." Tang Zijun coughed dryly and sighed. "Go ahead and revise it, but can you even revise it?"
"Yes, we can handle the second application. Anyway, it's all electronic data, so once it's submitted, it's no longer our responsibility. Of course, I personally suggest you choose a more low-key one..." Zhang Wei's expression became increasingly strange as he spoke.
Clearly, he misunderstood that Tang Zijun had chosen the code name herself.
Tang Zijun didn't explain much; he was exhausted.
Since she only obtained this identity because of the Dream World, Tang Zijun pondered for a moment before speaking, "Let's call her Dream Guest."
"A dream traveler? Why does it sound more like a passenger plane that leads to a dream world..." Qin Nan remarked.
"At least it's better than the last one," Tang Zijun said helplessly.
Another burst of clattering keyboard clicks followed, and Zhang Wei stood up again, then organized the documents that everyone had signed. "That's all done. As for your code name, sir, we still need to go through the proper procedures."
"Okay." Tang Zijun nodded.
"That was fast! You're very efficient." Qin Nan crossed her arms; she thought she would have to wait a long time.
"It wasn't really a big deal," Zhang Wei said, then looked up. "Are you going in now?"
"Yeah, the sooner we go, the sooner we can come back. Let's get this problem over with as quickly as possible so the brothers don't have to stay here guarding it." Tang Zijun nodded.
"Alright, I'll take you there."
Zhang Wei handed the documents to a clerk next to him, then turned and went out to help Tang Zijun and the others hold up the tent flap. Only after everyone had come out did he continue speaking.
"Currently, the only way to enter the surface world is while in a state of extreme dizziness. This was provided by the Flower Fairies, so you should be familiar with it."
"Ugh, this is so annoying, I don't want to spin around like this." Tang Cao rubbed her hair.
"You should be content. If we didn't use this method, we would have to wait for the surface world to open the entrance on its own. That would mean the surface world has entered a hunting state, which would be very unstable and even more dangerous inside," Qin Nan explained.
"Okay..." Tangcao shook her head, but she quickly asked curiously, "Wait, what if someone could spin around like 'Little Rainbow Flag' without getting dizzy?"
"This situation generally doesn't occur. As long as people enter the influence range of the surface world, their brain activity will be more or less disturbed. We have already verified this."
As he spoke, Zhang Wei stopped in front of a device with a metal rod inserted into it.
"This is the area with the greatest influence in the surface world. Further ahead lies the realm of the 'Entrance,' and I will no longer be able to accompany you from here."
"Wow, this is so advanced. What is it? Is it a device for real-time monitoring of energy fluctuations in the surface world?" Tang Cao observed the metal rod and turned to ask. "Listen... this is just an extra tent frame." Zhang Wei looked a little embarrassed.
Tangcao stuck out her tongue. "Sorry, I thought our technology had developed to a very advanced level."
"Our technology is indeed very advanced, but when it comes to things like the surface world and magic, our skill set is a bit off, so we need to experiment more. At least as far as I know, the bureau doesn't yet have any instruments capable of monitoring energy fluctuations," Zhang Wei explained.
Upon hearing this, Tang Cao asked in confusion, "What's with that knight in high-tech armor? Wasn't it something our Demon Surveillance Bureau developed?"
"Pfft!" Qin Nan, who was drinking water, immediately spat it out upon hearing this.
Zhang Wei, on the other hand, looked completely bewildered.
He couldn't even understand what Tangcao meant.
"Cough cough cough... It's nothing, it's nothing." Qin Nan quickly waved his hand, then pulled Tang Cao and walked deeper into the area.
He whispered to Tang Cao as they walked.
"I forgot to tell you, the Wolf Rider isn't with the Magic Bureau. His background is rather mysterious, so don't tell anyone."
