Chapter 28 I Know the Princess's Scent
Chapter 28 I Know the Princess's Scent
The water line that Lu Changgeng transformed into suddenly sprang upwards, hanging upside down along the cave ceiling.
A cold light swept past him from below, but the dragon's tail followed closely behind, lashing out in his direction.
The waterline tumbled in the air, avoiding a direct lash from the dragon's tail, but the gale-force winds generated by the tail still grazed his tail.
A small section of the waterline was shaved off by the strong wind and dispersed into mist in the air.
Lu Changgeng groaned, feeling a tearing pain in his soul.
The azure dragon opened its mouth, and a wisp of pale blue mist gushed out.
The mist was filled with countless tiny ice crystals, and the air was chilling.
The mist spread extremely quickly, enveloping half of the stone hall in the blink of an eye, leaving a thin layer of frost on the stone walls wherever it passed.
The waterline traveled through the mist, its speed suddenly decreasing.
It wasn't that Lu Changgeng didn't want to hurry, but the cold air in the fog condensed the moisture in the air into ice, blocking his way.
The waterline hit an ice crystal and bounced back, then hit another ice crystal and bounced back again, as if it were trapped in a shrinking ice cage.
The azure dragon hovered in mid-air above the stone hall, its tail swaying gently, its golden vertical pupils coldly staring at the surging water line.
She seemed to enjoy this cat-and-mouse game, her dragon mouth slightly upturned, revealing two rows of sharp dragon teeth.
"Run! Why aren't you running anymore? My icy mist is no ordinary thing; even a trace of it can freeze your magic. Run faster, and let me see how long you can last."
Lu Changgeng ignored her taunts and struggled through the gaps sealed by ice crystals.
His magical power was indeed gradually stagnating, as if something was pouring ice water into his meridians.
However, his true form is the Cleansing Spring, which is naturally imbued with the energy of the true fire of the sun.
With a thought, a wisp of golden flame, as thin as a hair, burst forth from the water line.
Although the flame was thin, its temperature was astonishingly high, and the surrounding ice crystals hissed and turned into white mist as soon as they touched it.
The frozen magic began to flow again, and the water stream suddenly accelerated, breaking through the blockade of the icy mist.
A hint of surprise flashed in the Azure Dragon's eyes: "What kind of fire is this? It seems extraordinary, quite interesting."
With a twist of her body, she gave chase, her speed more than twice as fast as before.
The dragon claws extended, five sharp toenails tearing through the air, their tips gleaming with a cold, eerie blue light.
The dragon's claws stretched out horizontally, slamming towards the waterline like a wall.
The waterline suddenly compressed, shrinking from a thin strip into a fist-sized mass, greatly increasing its flexibility after its volume decreased drastically.
Lu Changgeng narrowly escaped through the gaps between the dragon's claws. The dragon's claws slammed into the stone wall, creating a crater about a foot deep, and shards of stone flew everywhere.
The Azure Dragon gave him no chance to catch his breath, opening its mouth and shooting out a thin, long water arrow.
The water arrow is completely transparent, moves as fast as lightning, and shoots directly at the water sphere.
The water balloon bounced up suddenly and tumbled in the air.
The first water jet swept past from below, striking the rock wall and blasting a crater the size of a bowl.
The second water jet shot from above, and the water sphere dodged to the side, the water jet grazing the edge.
The third water arrow followed closely behind. Lu Changgeng had no time to dodge and condensed his magic power, which contained the true fire energy, on the surface to form a thin layer of fire film.
The water jet struck the fire membrane and hissed as it turned into white mist.
With a cold snort, the Azure Dragon coiled its ten-zhang-long body into a circle, its mouth wide open, aiming at the water sphere.
A ball of white light condensed in her mouth, growing larger and brighter.
The sphere of light emanated a bone-chilling cold, and the surrounding air crackled and popped from the freezing temperatures.
Lu Changgeng felt a chill run down his spine the moment he saw the white ball of light.
This move cannot be met head-on!
The chill contained within that ball of light was far greater than that of the previous water arrows. If struck, even with the protection of the true fire of the sun, one would likely be instantly reduced to ice shards.
"Scattered Flower Steps!"
With a thought, Lu Changgeng's water sphere suddenly multiplied into countless images, and his true body was launched towards the cave entrance.
The ball of light in the Azure Dragon's mouth finally took shape and shot out, a beam of cold light as thick as an arm sweeping straight at all the overlapping water spheres.
The beam of cold light missed the water sphere by a hair's breadth, grazing the edge and covering everything in its path with a thick layer of frost.
But the cold air still brushed against the edge of the water sphere, and a thin layer of ice instantly formed on the surface of the water sphere.
Lu Changgeng gritted his teeth and channeled his true solar fire energy to melt the ice shell.
The moment the ice shell melted, the water sphere, propelled by the force of the water vapor, shot out of the gap in the stone wall and flew out of the Xiezhi Cave.
The Azure Dragon's eyes flashed, and it too discovered the true form of the water sphere.
With a flick of its tail, the dragon emerged from the cave, its body swirling in mid-air, its glass-like scales dazzling in the sunlight.
She looked down and saw the water sphere disappear into the soil at the foot of the mountain in the blink of an eye. The water vapor from the underground river surged in the soil, and the water sphere vanished without a trace.
She opened her mouth and unleashed another beam of cold light, shooting towards the spot where the water sphere had disappeared.
A large crater was blasted open in the soil, revealing a thin tributary of an underground river at the bottom. The water sphere had already submerged in the water, leaving only a ring of ripples gradually disappearing on the surface.
The azure dragon coiled above the cave entrance, its tail swaying from side to side, slapping the air and making a crackling sound.
Its golden vertical pupils were fixed on the direction of the dark river, its nostrils flaring as it tried to catch a glimpse of that unique aura from the chaotic mist of the dark river.
However, the water vapor in the underground river was too mixed, and the tributaries were interconnected, making it like finding a needle in a haystack to find that small water mass.
"Hmph, I don't believe you won't come back!"
The azure dragon's body shrank, transforming back into a stunningly beautiful human form.
Her hair was loose, and her long black hair cascaded down her shoulders, making her look even more like an ethereal fairy compared to her previous appearance.
Then, she took out a light blue shawl from somewhere and wrapped it around her graceful and exquisite body.
With a flick of her shawl, it transformed into a cloud of blue mist, enveloping her as she soared into the air and flew back into the cave.
-
At the bottom of the underground river, Lu Changgeng drifted along with the current for an unknown amount of time before finally stopping at a shallow underground cave.
After sensing its surroundings and waiting a moment to confirm that the dragon girl had not caught up, the water mass began to twist and deform, growing larger and taller, eventually transforming into an eight-foot-tall young man with crimson hair.
Lu Changgeng breathed a sigh of relief, never expecting to encounter Princess Wansheng of Bibo Pool.
Although their identities haven't been confirmed yet, it's pretty much certain.
Fortunately, he didn't get into a fight and wasn't seriously injured; Lu Changgeng secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
He then stretched out his hands, looked at them, hesitated for a moment, and then, as if possessed, brought them to his nose and sniffed them gently.
There was a faint, cool, aquatic fragrance of white magnolia; thankfully, there was no unpleasant odor.
He then immediately put his hands down, shook them, and thought to himself that this action was a bit lewd. He wasn't a glutton. He then pondered the woman's background.
Princess Wansheng was described in the original story as greedy, audacious, and unruly, even daring to steal the Queen Mother's Nine-Leaf Lingzhi. It is therefore reasonable that she would encounter her in the Xiezhi Cave.
I just don't know why she came here.
