"This isn't fun."
He said softly, then suddenly exerted force with his feet.
Madison's scream caught in her throat. She saw the expensive leather shoe slam heavily onto Baal's bull's head, making a sickening squeaking sound—but the expected scene of brains splattering didn't happen—the bull's head seemed to be cast into concrete, without even a crack appearing on its skull.
"what's the situation?"
Even the devil in the suit was stunned.
"Hehe, intelligent demons are certainly different from you." The demon minotaur's voice suddenly regained its vigorous state, spinning like a football under the feet of the suit-wearing demon.
“I have heard the true words of the gods and know that the body is merely a burden, while the head is the true essence—and now, this is the reward I have reaped for abandoning the body and evolving only the head!”
"I've used all my energy to evolve my brain, what do you have to fight me with?"
Its sound was like muffled thunder from underground, and a fierce pillar of fire burst forth from the bull's mouth, burning through the suit-wearing devil's leather shoes and splattering directly onto the suit-wearing devil's face.
"Such high-level hellfire, you low-level demon shouldn't be this powerful!" The demon in the suit let out a scream that sounded inhuman, and staggered backward, knocking over a row of iron racks.
His perfect face melted like wax.
"You can do that?" Madison was stunned. Ian's trash can could breathe fire and talk at the same time. It was truly outrageous. She felt that her worldview had been refreshed once again.
"Hearing the Holy Word makes me strong! I am not Baal! I am now the Flame Barrett!" Baal's head spun around on the ground, and flames chased after the fleeing demon in a suit.
Flames collided with the dark barrier, sparking dazzling sparks.
Seeing that the battle between the two demons was getting intense, Madison came to his senses and glanced at the things that the demon Baal had plundered from Constantine on the ground.
"I have to help the Abyssal Barrel; it owes me a whole barrel of M&M's."
With no magic left to use, the witch started to rack her brains. She crouched down and rushed over, frantically rummaging through the pile of trench coats, cigarette boxes, and loose change.
There was even a bag of sand inside.
God knows why anyone would put a bag of sand in their clothes.
Magic Sand?
"Damn old smoker. How come he has more than a dozen packs of cigarettes, and they're all cheap brands that even dogs wouldn't smoke?" The little witch pulled a silver flask from Constantine's inner pocket.
She swayed.
I heard the sound of liquid.
"Hope is holy water"
Madison abruptly pulled the cork off the flask and splashed the liquid at the agile, dodging suit-wearing devil—no easy feat, as the suit-wearing devil was moving at an inhuman speed.
Seeing that his first two attempts to splash water had failed, and with little water left in the bottle, Madison frowned, gulped down the water, and unleashed a wide-area, saturated spray of "potion."
good results.
The holy water was scattered like flowers by a celestial maiden.
It fell upon the demon.
The demon's body immediately emitted a sizzling sound, like it was being deep-fried.
"You—!" Ravenclaw's curse turned into a scream. White smoke rose from the spot on his chest where the holy water had been poured, and his strength and magic power were greatly reduced in an instant.
Baal, now back in his minotaur form, seized the opportunity and once again spewed hellfire from his mouth. This time, the flames pierced directly through the weakened magical barrier.
Ravenclaw was enveloped in flames, which swept out like a tornado, engulfing the suit-wearing devil and causing him to scream in agony, filling the room with the stench of burning flesh.
"Damn witch!"
A twisted roar emanated from the flames.
Sudden.
The demon in the suit roared angrily, attempting to retaliate. He charged at the witch, his body ablaze with hellfire. This wasn't a one-for-one exchange; he wanted to extract some of the witch's magic.
That power comes from the ancient gods.
Seeing the menacing demon approaching, the little witch, in a panic, could only grab a cross from the pile of trinkets and slam it onto the forehead of the suit-wearing demon as he stumbled towards her.
The fire is burning.
The air was somewhat quiet.
The suit-wearing devil appeared incredibly stiff.
but.
He soon realized that nothing had happened.
"Hahaha! You think I'm afraid of this? You have no faith at all! This thing is nothing but a piece of scrap metal to you!" The suit-wearing demon, whose body was ablaze, let out a maniacal laugh.
Madison was immediately flustered and tried to fumble for something.
"Little witch! You must believe! Believe in the Emperor of All Laws, Ian!" The head in the suit shouted from the ground, no longer daring to breathe fire, as the devil in the suit approached Madison.
This sentence instantly brought Madison to his senses.
"oh oh!"
Her mind went blank, and all she could do was shout.
"May God Ian protect you!"
The little witch gripped the cross tightly, as if holding an imaginary holy sword. However, as soon as she finished speaking, the devil in the suit, whose forehead was being pressed against hers, couldn't help but laugh.
"What nonsense! Do you want to look at what you're holding? God won't redeem those who are only temporarily..." He raised his hand to draw some of the magic belonging to the Supreme Witch.
however.
Never thought about it.
The sarcastic remarks were not yet finished.
The demon felt the cross on his forehead suddenly become scorching hot.
"impossible!"
The devil's smile froze on his face.
this moment.
Madison felt a warm current flow from her palms, coursing through her veins and throughout her body. The worn lines on the cross lit up one by one, as if they were being infused with liquid sunlight.
Then the world turned white.
When Constantine was awakened by the blinding light, he thought he had arrived at the gates of heaven. Squinting through his smoke-stained eyes, he saw a young girl holding a radiant cross.
Meanwhile, the Crossroads Demon, who had caused him so much suffering, was melting away like a wax figure in the white light.
Turned to ashes.
The white light gradually faded, eventually retreating back into the unassuming cross. Madison stared blankly at the object in his hand—it now looked like an ordinary, somewhat old religious ornament.
All that remained in the room were floating ashes and the smell of burnt roasted meat.
"Cough cough." Baal's head rolled to Madison's feet, its horns covered in dust, and it spoke in an amazed tone, "I knew Ian God never lies. Faith generates power."
Hear the words.
Madison thought it made perfect sense.
Constantine, however, gaped open.
stunned.
"No? This...this magic?" Constantine realized what had happened. His gaze swept over the ashes on the ground and then fell on the cross in Madison's hand, whose light was gradually fading.
His eyes were full of shock and confusion.
Holding a cross and reciting the names of other gods was, in Constantine's view, tantamount to courting death. Yet, others unleashed an energy even more terrifying than when he feigned piety.
"Did your mother sleep with God?"
I held it in for a long time.
Constantine could only come up with what he considered the most plausible possibility.
"Snapped!"
His words, which he couldn't hold back, earned him two more slaps in the face.
……
metropolis.
Urban area.
Ian stood at the door of Madison's house.
They knocked on the door.
He planned to find the delinquent girl who missed class today, retrieve his navigation map, locate the Dream God's punching bag, and thus make the Dream God owe him a huge debt of gratitude.
Just as Ian rang the doorbell for the fifth time.
The door opened suddenly.
She was Madison's mother, a beautiful wife with red and swollen eyes.
"You're Xiaomai's alien boyfriend, right?"
She recognized Ian.
At least she felt she recognized him.
"..."
Ian gave a polite smile without saying a word. "Hello, Auntie. I'm Madison's deskmate. She didn't come to class today, and the teacher asked me to come and ask what happened."
He usually doesn't blink when he lies.
In this regard.
Madison's mother did not suspect anything, and her eyes reddened again when the matter was mentioned.
"She said last night that she was going out to be a superhero, my little madwoman... and she hasn't come home since. The police said she may have committed suicide at some disaster site."
Her voice choked with emotion.
I am deeply saddened.
