Chapter 147: The Opened Door Part III
Chapter 147: The Opened Door Part III
“Damn, this is not fun.” He complained to himself, before following and sitting with Angie with no words to argue.
If Maysa were here, she would not let him stay and wait behind like this. He was not sure if it was the right decision to travel with Waree alone since the levels of him and the others in the party were way too different!
One of them was the first ranked hunter of the game.
The other was so strong that she could make a muscular guy embarrassed.
And finally, the foul-mouthed kid who could cast a spell with the damage as much as a nuclear bomb could cause.
But what about him...?
He was just Na, the man who had speed like a cockroach!
“There’s no need to be depressed now.”
“Huh?” Wisana looked up at the little girl who was already staring at him. He made a confused face because the kid’s words were so clean without any sarcasm in the tone. It even sounded strangely gentle that made the listener surprised.
“No one is good enough from the start, you know. Just seeing the others are better than you, and you’re giving up?”
“Who said that? I’m not giving up.” His argument made Angela curl up a mocking smirk, before raising her eyebrows annoyingly.
“Not giving up? But you look like a sad loser dog right now.” This time, Wisana stared at this little brat surlily.
“I’m not giving up. I’m just thinking about the fastest way to get better than this. Also, just seeing you guys doing a little bit better doesn’t make me worry about it at all. This one is simple to solve, just two weeks, and my level will catch up with yours for real. Anyway, are you really a westerner? How could you come up with the words ‘loser dog’ as an insult? Where and with whom did you learn the language? For goodness’s sake!” He spoke before he got up to kick some snow on the ground around, then he walked past the little kid moodily. And that was when he missed a gentle smile on her young face.
“Good that you’re not worried or anything. So, let’s sit and wait for them here just for now. You’ll get half of the hunter point from killing Yetis for free anyway. Isn’t that good?”
“No, it’s not. If I am to get the points, I’d prefer getting it on my own.” The older one stated clearly as he came back with two chairs dragged behind him. He slid one of them at the kid with an extremely bored face.
“You’re so unskilled and really like being troublesome.”
“None of your business!” he said, turning his face away in another direction like he was sulking. Angela was shaking as she tried to hold back her laughter, while she was reaching her hand out to grab the chair from him to sit.
During their comfortable time, suddenly, there was a stinging pain in Wisana’s head. His blood was boiling, making the tall man jump, eyes widening as he looked around fast.
Wisana turned to Angela and wrapped her in his arms, making the one who just got hugged unexpectedly blush out of embarrassment. She pushed him off finally before the ruby eyes gazed at him instantly.
“Wha... what the heck are you doing? Why you suddenly...!”
“No! It’s not like that.” He denied quietly without taking his eyes off her chair. “I... suddenly felt like something was coming at you, so...”
“Huh?” Angela frowned, her eyes following to where the man was looking confusedly.
Then her young face turned pale. On the wooden chair, she was sitting on a second ago, there was a large arrow sticking out of it. If Wisana had not pulled her away from there, it would have stabbed her back for sure.
“That’s crazy how I didn’t feel it coming at all. How did you know?!” After getting herself back together again, Angela bawled, before pulling the arrow out of the chair.
The arrow was made of deep brown wood, and the sharp edge was made of a red steel blade.
“This is an Orc’s arrow.” While she was analyzing the arrow, Wisana hurriedly walked to another side of the hill, the opposite direction of where Waree was fighting... the spot where they traveled through from the first place.
The amber eyes looked down at the route that led to the coffee shop. The tall man did not say anything. His lips were pressed together as he felt his saliva becoming too sticky to swallow.
“What’s wrong, Wisana?” Seeing the man go quiet for quite a long time, the little girl started being curious.
“Get your scepter out, Angie...” He said as he tightened his hand around the sword before he stepped backward to join the little mage.
“What’s wrong?”
“We’re screwed, is what’s wrong.” She did not ask him to explain more when suddenly Wisana put her behind his back. And then, there was a sound of something loudening at a steady rhythm.
DUM! DUM! DUM!
“This drum sound...?” Angela said to herself, her face starting to look panicked.
“Contact Nam now. Tell her that the rear’s having a serious war as well.”
“’Kay.” The kid agreed with a stressed face. She could recognize many kinds of drum sounds because she had fought with these kinds of enemies a couple of times before, but this was the first time she heard a drum sound with a rhythm like this.
Battle drum sound ...and a red arrow of the Orcs.
“What’s that drum sound just now?” Waree asked through the communication device before Angela could even reach out to her.
The kid did not answer right away. She just tightened the scepter in her hand, before casting another big combo of magic spells. “It’s exactly what you’re thinking, Waree.” Then she replied with a soft voice.
The other side of the call got quiet for a moment like she was thinking about what to do. And Wisana could only look back and forth between the little mage and the scene in front of him, waiting for a command.
Finally, the calm voice of Shindanai spoke up to break the silence.
“Can you try to resist them, Angie?”
While Angela was dumbfounded by the question, her red eyes caught with the man’s beside her. That was like a soothing from heaven, Wisana curled up a big grin, eyes sparkling like he just got a new favorite toy. Then the kid let out a long sigh.
“There’s someone who’s more than happy to hear the sentence from you.” The one from the other end of the call snorted, before giving a brief speech.
“Good. Be careful, too. We’re coming back to help as soon as possible.” After his words, the communications window disappeared. Angela held up her hand to rub her temples softly, while the other hand was grabbing the weapon tightly until the scepter started shaking.
Even though the young face was still emotionless without any trace of worry there, her heart was beating fast like it was about to burst out of her chest. Unlike Wisana who started stretching his body. He was bending down a little like a runner getting ready to run.
“Those guys really get me. I was longing for a fight, and then they showed up and brought me one.” He said with the most satisfied face, looking completely different from the little mage beside him.
“Can you not take this as a joke?”
“What? I’m not taking this as a joke. I’m simply happy that I got a chance to exercise my skills, too, or I’ll become lame for staying still for too long.”
“Be more serious, Wisana!” Angela snapped. “It’s not usual to have two armies of monsters appearing to brace two sides of the players like this, just so you know. Or do you really think all of this is a coincidence?”
“And it’s not?” The troublesome one tilted his head out of curiosity.
“Of course not. It’s not often for players to be ganged up by many hundreds of monsters like this, and this kind of event is called the Monster Contract.”
“Monster Contract?”
