Reborn as the Sweetheart of a Paranoid Boss

Chapter 771: The Linton Siblings

Chapter 771: The Linton Siblings

Selena Kensington nodded, wanting to withdraw from Sterling Norwood’s embrace, but he only drew her closer. After struggling for a moment and realizing it was futile, she let him be.

Sterling Norwood, like a child who had won a candy, not only showed no restraint but even became more audacious.

Seizing Selena’s inattention, he happily leaned over and softly kissed her cheek.

"..."

Selena gave him a chilly glance.

Sterling blinked innocently at her.

Seeing his innocent face, Selena’s mouth twitched slightly.

No matter how much her heart burned with anger, she couldn’t express it.

So, she simply chose to ignore Sterling.

"By the way."

Sterling suddenly said.

Selena heard and looked up at him with puzzlement.

"Spencer led the team to pursue them and eventually shot down their helicopter at the border of The Empire."

Sterling continued.

Hearing Sterling’s words, Selena’s heart trembled.

The helicopter was shot down?!

Then what about Cole and the others...

Sterling glanced at Selena’s reaction. Although he still felt somewhat jealous inside, he continued obediently, "Their helicopter crashed into a forest, and at the scene, only the bodies of the Linton siblings were found. Cole... disappeared."

When mentioning Cole, a sharp killing intent flashed in Sterling’s eyes.

Accompanied by a chilling frost.

Not hearing news of Cole’s death, Selena’s eyes slightly flickered.

It seemed he was right.

He was waiting for her to personally kill him one day.

Sterling noticed the change in Selena’s expression upon learning Cole hadn’t died, as if some other emotions were flowing in her eyes.

Sterling reached out and pinched Selena’s cheek, trying to get her attention with some dissatisfaction.

"Hearing that he didn’t die, you seem a bit happy?"

His tone was sour, almost bubbling with acidity.

"..."

Selena glanced speechlessly at the man who seemed about to bubble over with childish jealousy.

She was just a bit surprised and didn’t expect Sterling to interpret her reaction as happiness over Cole’s survival.

Seeing Selena’s expression, Sterling snapped back to reality.

He felt a bit regretful that just when his wife was willing to talk to him, he messed it up again.

Thick-skinned, he leaned in once more, "Hungry? I asked the kitchen to prepare food for you."

Sterling had come up to wake Selena for dinner.

Upon his suggestion, Selena noticed the emptiness in her stomach.

Thinking of the two babies in her womb, she nodded.

Sterling immediately, eagerly, took Selena downstairs to eat.

At the dining table, Selena seemed to remember something and looked at Sterling, who was attentively picking dishes for her.

"What’s the deal with the Linton siblings, Janine and Ethan?"

"They committed suicide."

After pausing for a moment, Sterling answered.

Selena’s eyes flashed with surprise, "How is that possible?!"

"The helicopter crashed into the forest, and the Linton siblings were badly injured, but not fatally. When our people surrounded them, they ended each other."

The siblings’ thoughts were simple; they were already severely injured, with no chance of escape.

Faced with the choice between being taken by the Norwood family and ending themselves, they chose the latter.

It was clear they were very loyal to The Godsbane Organization.

"..."

Upon hearing Sterling’s words, Selena was filled with mixed emotions.

She didn’t know what to say about Janine and Ethan Linton.

She couldn’t understand why the siblings joined Godsbane or why they chose such a hasty death.

"Have you found out about the Linton siblings?"

Selena took a deep breath, her gaze returning to calm.

No matter what end came for the Linton siblings, it was their choice. She had her own troubles and didn’t have the mind to lament for them.

"Yes."

Sterling responded steadily, his gaze heavy.

"They were descendants of a family exterminated in the obliteration plan decades ago, the Linton family."

"The Linton family was once a prestigious nobility in Aethelgard, but as their descendants became less noteworthy with each generation, the rise of Godsbane gave them new hope. The Linton family became the leading supporters of this experiment, the most fanatic. The Empire realized the Lintons couldn’t recover, so they issued a fatal order..."

"During that obliteration, the Linton siblings were just born. Additionally, since their Lady gave birth to them in their hometown, she left them there after birth and returned alone, so these two escaped our notice."

Sterling explained slowly.

After he revealed Ethan Linton as an insider to Justin Osborne, the latter was shocked.

A deeper investigation into Ethan’s lineage was conducted, even sifting through decades-old documents, which finally unearthed this piece of history.

So, if it weren’t for their mother’s original decision, the siblings might not have survived.

But as they grew, they learned about their parents.

In the siblings’ eyes, it was The Empire and the Norwood family that harmed their clan, leading them to join Godsbane resolutely for vengeance.

Justin Osborne also worried that Godsbane had more infiltrators than just Ethan Linton, so he planned a purge of The Celestial Division from the source with the cooperation of Sterling and Silas.

Hearing about the Linton siblings’ lineage, Selena fell silent.

She didn’t speak further, simply continued eating quietly.

After finishing dinner, Selena planned to return to her room to rest.

Sterling followed closely behind, fearing Selena would abandon him.

While heading upstairs, Selena said, "I want to visit Felicity Dalton tomorrow."

Selena hadn’t had the chance to inform Hugh Kensington of this news. She decided to assess Felicity’s situation before deciding whether to tell Hugh.

If Felicity’s situation was unfavorable, Selena worried that Hugh might do something reckless.

Sterling promptly agreed, "Okay."

Near the bedroom door, Selena placed a hand on the doorknob, glancing at Sterling.

Sterling’s heart leapt, fearing Selena’s next words would be to send him away.

Thankfully, after merely glancing, Selena retracted her gaze, opened the door, and went inside.

Sterling breathed a sigh of relief, curved his lips slightly, and quickly followed her in.

However, as soon as he stepped into the bedroom, before he could savor his smile, Selena pointed to the sofa and said, "You’re sleeping there tonight."
