Chapter 14 Hulk vs. the US Army

Seeing Hulk turn around, most of the soldiers couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief. After all, if they really faced this kind of invulnerable and incredibly strong monster head-on, no one could guarantee that they wouldn't be injured or killed.

Hulk didn't want to fight anymore, but General Ross wasn't about to let his target escape so easily. He ordered a group of new Black Hawk helicopters to fire bullets to block Hulk's path, and then ordered ground tank units to advance and bombard Hulk.

The shell struck Hulk, creating a cloud of smoke. Before the people in the command center could even celebrate their victory, they saw Hulk emerge from the smoke. Those with good eyesight could vaguely see a white mark on Hulk's green skin. But clearly, the shell hadn't caused any effective damage to Hulk.

Feeling the pain, Hulk roared and began to fight back. He fixed his gaze on his target, gathered strength in his legs, and leaped into the air. The powerful impact created a huge circular crater in the ground.

Hulk leaped into the air and grabbed his target with both hands: the tail of a helicopter. He then crashed down, smashing the helicopter's propeller with a loud crack as the alloy blades broke, mingling with the pilot's screams.

He then used the helicopter, now without its rotor, as a golf club, charging head-on into the tanks that were beginning their second round of bombardment. He then hurled the tanks at them one by one, targeting the other helicopters circling overhead.

Seeing this, the Black Hawk helicopter pilots scrambled their aircraft to evade, but Hulk still managed to shoot down two of their planes. The tanks and aircraft wreckage falling from the sky also caused heavy casualties to the ground troops.

However, the intense use caused Hulk's "weapon" to split in two. Hulk forcefully threw it at the army behind him, causing chaos. He then tore apart the last remaining tank with his bare hands, using the broken tank as a gauntlet to smash everything in his way.

Seeing the troops on the verge of collapse, General Ross in the command center ordered his men to launch the missiles that had been prepared beforehand.

Noticing the incoming missile, Hulk quickly used his tank as a shield to defend himself. A huge explosion suddenly rang out, and a small mushroom cloud rose from the ground.

The land around the explosion's epicenter was reduced to ruins.

Under everyone's gaze, Hulk, slowly rising from the ruins, resembled a war god dominating the battlefield in the glow of the setting sun.

Clearly, Ross's army was no match for the Hulk.

But the stronger the Hulk's fighting power becomes, the more the military wants to control that power for their own use.

Soon, Ross's phone rang again. After hanging up, Ross looked conflicted, but seeing Hulk's troops retreating steadily, he finally made up his mind and ordered his adjutant, "Bring Betty over."

Knowing what General Ross was about to do, the adjutant couldn't help but remind him, "General, we're not the only ones here now." He then pointed to the television.

Watching the green monster displaying its might on television, General Ross couldn't help but curse, "Those damned reporters and photographers."

Meanwhile, I wondered if the monster was brazenly heading down the highway because it knew I would use Betty, its aim being to attract attention. Now, almost the entire nation was watching, and if I used my daughter to threaten the monster into surrendering, my career would likely be over.

But General Ross had no idea what other way he could subdue the green monster.

At that moment, a figure appearing on the television caught his attention.

"Mr. Stark, are you planning to help the military take down Dr. Bruce Banner?" Watching the U.S. military suffer a series of defeats, the reporter began to ask Tony Stark, who had been observing the situation from the sidelines.

Clearly, when this green giant began to display his terrifying power, the reporter started using honorifics when describing him.

Stark opened the visor of his mech and said solemnly, "I have faith in the military's strength. If the military really can't handle this monster, I will take action against him."

"What's Stark doing here?" Ross asked curiously after turning off the TV.

"Maybe they just want to see us make a fool of ourselves." The adjutant gave an answer that made Ross both laugh and cry, but after carefully considering the current relationship between the military and Stark, as well as Stark's terrible personality, General Ross realized that this answer was very likely true.

"Contact Ms. Pepper and have her persuade Stark to cooperate with us; the terms are negotiable." General Ross, realizing that he could not defeat the Hulk with the strength of the army alone, had no choice but to seek Stark's help.

After gritting his teeth and agreeing to a series of conditions proposed by Pepper, representing Stark Industries, Ross only guaranteed his bottom line: that Bruce Banner would fall into the hands of the military.

After all, if Bruce Banner cannot be captured, all the sacrifices made by the current army will be in vain, and he himself will surely face a military court for causing all of this.

Soon, American viewers watching the Hulk rampage through the U.S. military on television were surprised to find that Iron Man had appeared.

But after Iron Man appeared, Americans found that their TV signals suddenly stopped working. They initially thought it was just their signal that was the problem, but when they went outside, they realized that Tony Stark had blocked the signal.

"The pickled radishes were eaten!"

In an instant, Pepper, who was calling for someone to repair his television at Stark Industries, found his phone ringing non-stop and his email inbox filled with countless complaints.

After learning what Tony Stark had done, Pepper berated Tony in the office and then secretly contacted Jarvis, asking him to restore her TV signal. However, since there was no signal in other areas and the TV station had already shut down its equipment, Jarvis sent Tony Stark's first-person perspective from his armor to Pepper's TV. Pepper unplugged the phone line, turned off her computer, and continued watching TV with popcorn.

Miller also called Jarvis, not wanting to miss the Hulk vs. Iron Man battle. Inside S.H.I.E.L.D., unable to bear watching the soldiers being slaughtered while he could only stand by, and now even unable to watch, Steve Rogers once again took up his shield. The shrewd leader no longer tried to stop him and arranged for a plane to escort him.

In Russia, looking at the black-and-white television screen, Ivan Vanko sneered, got up, turned off the TV, glanced at the wall covered with photos of Tony Stark, and then sat down at his workbench to continue his research.

Tony Stark, who was fighting the Hulk, suddenly sneezed a few times, but he didn't pay any attention to it.
