Chapter 458 The Siblings
Chapter 458 The Siblings
Chapter 458 The Siblings
Mutants with telepathic abilities and short-range teleportation are all in the team, and the mutant underground organization is now fully prepared.
Only one question remained: no one present knew anything about the situation inside Garan Prison.
They also need someone who knows the inside of the prison well enough to ensure the operation goes smoothly.
This problem wasn't without a solution. None of the mutants present were stupid, and many of them knew how to use computers. The dark-skinned Darwin bravely sat down in front of the computer and began searching for information at lightning speed.
The mutant siblings that Max brought back seemed nervous and scared. The younger brother, Andy, looked at Max and whispered, "Max, after you brought us here, will Mom run into any trouble?"
Max only brought the mutant siblings out, completely ignoring their mother, Caitlin Strucker.
After all, mutants sometimes cannot fully trust even their own kind and need to use various methods to test them, let alone a completely unfamiliar ordinary person.
Max reached out to pat Andy's head, but the latter turned his head away, so Max could only chuckle awkwardly, "The Sentinels won't do anything to an unarmed ordinary person, you can rest assured."
"By the way, when I went there, I only saw your mother at home. What does your father do?"
As soon as he finished speaking, Andy's expression changed immediately. His sister Lauren, who was standing next to him, tried her best to remain calm, but her eyes were also flickering, as if she was hiding something from Max.
Eclipse Max immediately became alert, subtly placing one hand behind his back. A faint white light began to flicker as he asked, "It's alright, Lauren, Andy. Tell me, who is your father? What does he do?"
Apart from Darwin, who was furiously typing away on his computer, everyone else sensed something was wrong, and the atmosphere immediately became tense.
Ring ring.
As luck would have it, Max's phone rang at that moment.
He took out his phone, gave his younger brother Andy and older sister Lauren a hard look, and answered the call in front of everyone: "Hello?"
"A solar eclipse?" - Max Diaz?
The person on the other end of the phone seemed to know Max's identity very well, and immediately stated his nickname and full name.
Max swiftly covered the microphone with one hand, glanced at the crowd with the other, his lips moved but no sound came out, but the shape of his lips clearly said: "Be on guard!"
Peggy's clothes immediately burst open, and her body transformed into a solid, black material. Thunderbird John clenched his fists, and the muscles on his arms bulged out. Darwin, no longer able to continue researching, cautiously peered out the window.
Omega, the "Forget-Me-Not," also tiptoed and pressed his ear against the wall to try to listen to the sounds outside, while Connors remained calmly seated in his chair.
However, his body also turned into diamond.
Everyone else adopted a defensive stance, and Connors followed suit to avoid unnecessary trouble.
Seeing that everyone was ready, Max spoke into the phone again: "Who are you? Why do you know my name?"
The voice on the other end of the phone continued: "This is Reed Strucker."
"My family needs protection, and I will have to take them across the border if necessary."
"You've done this kind of thing with other mutants, haven't you?"
Crossing the border without permission was nothing compared to the other side knowing his mutant identity. Max wasn't swayed by this; he remained vigilant and asked in a low voice, "What's your identity? A Sentinel? What do you want?"
Reed Strucker didn't answer Max's question, but instead changed the subject: "You know about the school bombing that happened a while ago, before the moon's return?"
"Those two young mutant children."
Max glanced at the siblings and said with unusual decisiveness, "You want me to help you capture them? Let me make it clear first, that's impossible. Mutants would rather die than cooperate with Sentinels against their own kind."
Reed Strucker's answer surprised Max: "They are my children."
"And I am the Sentinel Captain who captured Polaris Lorna Dayne, the current Sentinel Prosecutor, a high-ranking official at Garland Prison, and in charge of interrogating Polaris Lorna."
Click!
Max nearly crushed the phone in his hand. His tone was fierce, and his previously kind face twisted into a grimace: "You led the team that kidnapped Lorna?! And now you're asking me for help? What the hell are you up to?"
Inside Garland Prison, Reed Strucker watched as his female assistant, whom he had dismissed, was about to return to her office. He quickly locked the door from the inside and whispered rapidly, "My children have become mutants! Even if I become a high-ranking official, I can't protect them for long, so I'm going to take a desperate gamble—"
"I helped you rescue Polaris Lorna, and you help me protect my family."
Max was silent for a moment, then put the phone aside and ran to Connors: "Can you sense what that guy is thinking through this phone?"
Connors looked at Max blankly: "?"
When did telepathy become the ability to find someone by following a phone line?
Seeing that Connors was powerless to help, Max picked up the phone again: "How can I trust you?"
"Give me an email address, and I'll send you the internal layout of Garland Prison, as well as the patrol routes of the guards, within half an hour," Reed Strucker said.
"You'd better send us something real, not just a locked address so we can track us down and arrest us," Max said in a low voice. "By the way, your kids are with us right now, so if you're going to arrest them, remember to worry about them too."
Inside Garland Prison, Reed Strucker cursed angrily, never expecting the mutants to move so quickly.
After hanging up the phone, for some reason, he felt a sense of relief. He would rather the children join the mutants than fall into the hands of the Sentinels.
The female assistant was getting closer and closer, about to reach the office door, while Reed's phone showed a call from his wife, Caitlin Strucker.
Reed quickly opened his office door, showed the female assistant the caller ID, indicated that he and his family needed to chat for a while, and only dared to answer the phone after sending the female assistant away again.
On the other end of the phone, Caitlin Strucker's voice, choked with tears, rang in Reed's ears: "Reed! Andy and Lauren have been taken away by mutants! Think of something quick!"
