Chapter 445 'The Sentinel'

pat.

On a series of transport vehicles heading toward Magneto's daughter, Polaris Lorna, a swarm of birds fell from the sky, slapping against the windshields.

Reed Strucker knew that this was due to Polaris Lorna's ability to manipulate magnetic fields by defying the Earth's gravity and the Moon's gravity, causing birds that rely on biomagnetic fields to lose their sense of direction.

"Hold!"

The driver, annoyed by the birds falling like rain, couldn't help but utter a curse.

Reed Strucker glanced at him silently, knowing that the target being arrested was too dangerous, putting a lot of pressure on his team.

But he had no choice; he had to obey his superiors' orders. Or rather, even if he resigned, the mutants he had arrested would surely seek revenge.

Strucker now only hopes that Polaris Lorna, like before, has already moved to a new location before the SWAT team arrives, leaving him and his group empty-handed.

Meanwhile, about ten kilometers away from Strucker's special forces team, in a seemingly abandoned manor.

"Lorna, are you alright?"

A man with slightly long hair that almost reached his kneecaps, but who did not have the slightest effeminate air due to his well-developed muscles and rather rugged appearance, was squatting on the ground asking questions nervously.

Before him, a young woman with short, slightly curly green hair, fair skin, and delicate but somewhat aggressive features was curled up on the ground in pain, her hands covering her head.

"Make way, Thunderbird, Polaris needs a sedative injection."

The speaker was a Mexican man with curly hair plastered to his scalp. He was "Eclipse" Max, and he was busy taking out a syringe and medicine from a medical kit to inject Polaris Lorna.

"It's too late, Eclipse." Thunderbird John stopped Eclipse Max. "Polaris has already spent too much time restabilizing Earth's magnetic field. I suspect a sentry team is already on their way."

"John, move aside." Eclipse Max's face was no less worried than Thunderbird John's. "She needs both painkillers and sedatives. She just overexerted herself. If she doesn't get them in time, she might even be tortured to death by the pain."

"Why don't we transfer her while giving her the injection?" another person spoke up.

Thunderbird John looked at the person who spoke. She was wearing an unusually thin vest and short jeans. Her long, golden hair was messily draped over her seemingly gentle but unusually determined face. It was "Skin Change" Peggy.

"Because after the injection, she needs a quiet and comfortable environment," Eclipse Max said with a hint of bitterness.

Because Polaris has spent a considerable amount of time defying the Earth-Moon gravitational pull, it is no longer permissible for them to remain in that location.

If she were to leave with Polaris like this, she might die because she wouldn't have time to receive sedatives and painkillers, and even if she did, she might lose her life due to various accidents that might occur during the escape.

However, if the injection were administered here, all the mutants on the plantation would face the risk of being arrested by the "Sentinels".

Both paths were practically dead ends, and just then, Thunderbird John's expression suddenly changed. He rushed to the window, his face turning deathly pale: "Trouble's here!"

Eclipse Max quickly asked, "What's going on?"

Easypai also looked at Thunderbird John. She knew that this companion had extremely advanced eyesight and hearing, enabling him to detect danger before most people.

"The sentry team, more than ten transport vehicles, are on their way, surrounding this place from four directions," John Thunderbird said rapidly. "Turn off the lights!"

Eclipse Max nodded vigorously, pointing his palms at the two light bulbs in the manor.

With two loud popping sounds, the light bulbs exploded, and the light that was on immediately moved to Max's hand.

Without stopping, he quickly turned off all the other lights in the manor, finally looking at Polaris Lorna, who was writhing on the ground in pain.

Eclipse Max opened his mouth, but before he could utter a single word, sirens blared outside, and the manor was completely surrounded.

Reed Strucker picked up the megaphone again and began to announce, "This is Sentinel 049, SWAT Team."

"I know you're hiding inside. Come out now, or we'll shoot."

As soon as he finished speaking, a series of silent footsteps approached the manor from the transport vehicle.

Without a second thought, Eclipse Max immediately whispered to his companions, "I'll create a glare to blind these sons of bitches. Peggy, you take Lorna and escape. John, you protect them."

"And you?" John asked.

"Of course I'm going to run with you guys!" Max yelled, and strode out of the manor.

Easy-skin Peggy bent down and hoisted Polaris Lorna, who was rolling on the ground clutching her head, onto her shoulder. With her other hand, she grabbed the medical kit that Eclipse Max had just brought, and then Max rushed outside.

John the Thunderbird clenched his fist, his muscles bulging, and he charged out of the manor at an even faster speed, smashing through the SWAT officers and vehicles blocking his way.

"Target spotted! All personnel on high alert!"

The moment they arrived at their manor, the members of SWAT Team 049, the "Sentinel," immediately aimed their guns at the mutants.

Eclipse Max snorted coldly at the group of SWAT officers, and the next second his entire body burst into an extremely dazzling light, as if a flashbang suddenly exploded in the crowd.

"Walk!"

Max roared, and Peggy immediately carried Polaris Lorna on her back and ran towards the exit that Thunderbird John had crashed through.

The SWAT officers fired their guns in rapid succession, but they were almost blinded by the bright light. Most of them covered their eyes and cried uncontrollably, while a few fired indiscriminately.

Worried that the SWAT team would quickly adapt to the bright light, Max did not maintain the glare continuously, but instead turned it on and off intermittently, like the lights in a nightclub dance floor.

"Huh? Is this an outdoor disco?"

High above them, Connors stared in astonishment at the flickering light below and couldn't help but descend to see what was happening.

Just as they were about to escape the encirclement, John Thunderbird even took advantage of the short time to start a police car, and Paige quickly stuffed Lorna Polaris into the car.

But Polaris Lorna, in excruciating pain, refused to cooperate, so Skinpai had no choice but to stuff her into the trunk and get into the car herself.

Eclipse Max didn't continue arguing with the SWAT team; he rushed over and sat in the passenger seat.

Seeing that his companions had all gotten into the car, John Thunderbird stepped on the gas, and the police car sped forward with its siren blaring.

Just then, Lorna, the Arctic Wolf who had been stuffed into the trunk by Easypai, let out a miserable howl. The trunk lid was immediately blown off, and Lorna was suspended in the air before crashing to the ground.

By this time, John Thunderbird's police car had already driven nearly thirty meters away, and it was too late to go back and pick up Polaris.

"Hold!"

John gritted his teeth and yelled, having no choice but to temporarily abandon Polaris Lorna and flee with his other mutant companions.

Reed Strucker, the captain of the 049 "Sentinel" SWAT team, watched as his men swarmed forward and subdued Polaris Lorna with specially made handcuffs, feeling as if he were in a dream.

The number one mutant on the wanted list was captured. To prevent the mutant from making a comeback, Strucker quickly ordered the special agents to put Polaris in a car and drive towards Garan prison in Mexico.

That place is specifically used to imprison mutants.

After Reed Strucker's convoy left, Connors slowly descended from the sky, plucked a blade of grass from the ground, and snapped it at the convoy.

"Kusama-jin" no longer needed to be specially made into a small doll to be effective. With a flick of his finger, the grass stem quickly became thin and long, catching up with the convoy and taking root in Polaris Lorna's short green hair.
