Chapter 319 Deadpool
Chapter 319 Deadpool
"Where has the teleportation belt sent me this time?"
Deadpool stood on a New York street, looking at the surrounding skyscrapers and muttering to himself.
As he walked down the street, he noticed that the pedestrians seemed oblivious to his red and black battle suit, as if they were not surprised at all that he was covered from head to toe.
There was even a seven or eight-year-old boy who ran up to Deadpool, holding up the phone he'd taken from his mother:
"Spider-Man! Spider-Man! Can I take a picture with you?"
"Of course." Deadpool agreed without hesitation and posed for the photo.
After the little boy happily took his picture and left, Deadpool stood there thoughtfully:
Spider-Man?
He looked up and saw the morning's news playing on the huge TV screen by the street:
A mysterious man in a trench coat prevented a plane crash, saving more than 300 passengers, but the plane was damaged as a result, and the airline plans to sue the newly appointed "superhero".
The screen showed Connors blocking the plane with his hand, and Deadpool was stunned.
"He's here too? — I need to ask him how Old Wolf is doing."
There are many ways to find Connors, but Deadpool chose the one that suited him best:
He slipped into a nearby alley, broke the legs of several thieves who had just robbed passersby of their wallets and were celebrating their share of the loot, and stole their cell phones.
Deadpool skillfully opened the map software, crouched down and looted all the money from the gang of thugs, then took a taxi straight to the Avengers Building.
He knew Connors wasn't someone who could settle down, and superheroes would definitely pay special attention to someone like that.
More than an hour later, Deadpool was standing on the top floor of Avengers Tower, watching the Avengers who were in a panic because of the impending arrival of the Phoenix Force.
"We must do everything in our power to prevent this disaster from happening."
As soon as Deadpool entered, he heard Captain America speak in an unusually serious tone.
"The Phoenix Force is closely related to mutants, and we must contact experts in this field—" Iron Man, who was not wearing his armor but dressed in casual clothes, said with a headache, "but I still can't get through to Connors on the phone."
"Ahem." Deadpool coughed deliberately, drawing the attention of most of the Avengers present.
"If you need an expert on mutants, I think I should be one." Deadpool leaned against the wall, looking like a social outcast.
"Are you sure?" Captain America looked at this seemingly unreliable guy with suspicion.
"If you don't believe me—" Deadpool pulled a piece of paper from behind his butt that was covered with Wikipedia entries about the "Phoenix Force," "I can read it to you from beginning to end."
"We know more about the Phoenix Force than you do, because we've fought it before," Iron Man said.
Deadpool doesn't understand this time:
"Then what do you need mutant experts for? Just to promote your stuff?"
He loosely clenched one hand and moved it back and forth across his face, his cheeks puffing out with each movement.
The Avengers' faces darkened immediately, instinctively assuming that this guy was deliberately trying to cause trouble.
"Don't be so lifeless. You're not Batman who lost his parents," Deadpool said. "I can give you advice as a mutant, but you have to grant me a small request."
"We need to know what you're helping us achieve first," Iron Man said.
"Send me to Connors, though he might not be called Connors, he might call himself 'The Outsider,' 'The Watcher,' or something like that."
"Deadpool" said, then pulled out a piece of paper printed with this morning's news:
"This is the guy. I'm sure you all know where he is, right?"
Captain America nodded:
"That's right, we know that all mutants are in what they call the utopia of Krakoa Island. No, wait, not all mutants."
Deadpool's words seemed to inspire Captain America, and Iron Man, who was standing nearby, also suddenly realized what was going on:
"Wolverine!"
The "Wolverine" and "Cyclops" of this world had a conflict of ideologies, so instead of going to Krakoa Island, he stayed at Xavier's School with a group of mutant children.
Deadpool spread his hands:
"You've already spoiled the part about how I'm supposed to help you."
"You can come with us," Iron Man said to Deadpool.
A dozen minutes later, Captain America, Iron Man, and Deadpool were already standing in front of Wolverine Logan, who was lounging on the sofa drinking.
Looking at Logan, who bears absolutely no resemblance to Wolverine from the "Zombie Universe," Deadpool couldn't help but remark:
"Would you like some snacks to go with your drinks? Like the meat on my butt."
Snapped!
The bottle in Logan's hand flew towards Deadpool but missed, shattering on the ground.
Without saying a word, Wolverine clenched one hand into a fist, and with a clang, his adamantium claw shot out, lunging at Deadpool.
Deadpool said cheerfully:
"I watched Logan the Zombie for so long that I almost forgot Wolverine was a grumpy drunkard."
He also drew his long sword from his back, ready to fight.
But just as the two were about to come to blows, a vibranium shield flew between them, crashing into the wall and then bouncing back into Captain America's hands from behind a table.
"We're here on important business."
"The Phoenix Force is making a comeback."
To show that they weren't there to fight, Iron Man simply lifted his metal mask:
"You were there when the Phoenix Force arrived on Earth last time, so we're asking for your help this time."
Seeing that it was Captain America and Iron Man trying to break up the fight, Wolverine withdrew his claws, turned around, grabbed another bottle of beer from the refrigerator, and said while drinking:
"Who is this guy?"
He raised his eyebrows at Deadpool.
"Like you, I'm also a mutant who didn't choose to hide on Krakoa Island," Iron Man said.
Having experienced the previous incident where Jean Grey, the "Phoenix Girl," went berserk, he harbored no goodwill towards most mutants and spoke with a barbed tone.
Wolverine understood; he wasn't concerned with the unfamiliar Deadpool, but rather with the Phoenix Force.
"Jean Grey tried everything to control her, but in the end she said and did everything she could, and still couldn't control her."
"She had no choice but to commit suicide to stop the 'Phoenix' from destroying the world, but the suicide attempt failed."
"Everyone in the mutant community knows Phoenix's purpose in coming to Earth, and who it's looking for."
Deadpool slapped his hands:
"Quickly, it's time for the exciting reveal!"
