This is why he devoted himself to Khwarazm.
The next moment, [Galo] turned around in astonishment, but it was too late. With a gleeful hatred, the blood-red scythe pierced through his chest.
[Galo] coughed up blood, making gurgling sounds as he stared in disbelief at the sharp scythe that had pierced through his chest. The bone spurs seemed to come alive, deeply embedded in his flesh, greedily sucking his blood.
Behind him, the headless corpse swayed slowly. [Galo] felt the scythe trying to be pulled out of the flesh to deliver the final blow.
He was defeated.
Without any hesitation, [Galo] decisively drew the dagger from his waist, a dark golden light flashing across it, and the next moment, the dagger went straight for his neck.
laugh!
Fresh blood gushed out, splashing from his throat.
boom!
The scythe supporting [Galo] was pulled out, and [Galo] slammed straight down.
In that final moment, [Galo] stared intently at [Vox]'s headless corpse, the wound on his neck gleaming with golden light.
"We'll meet again, Vox."
【伽罗】's mouth opened and closed.
"You will lose if you sacrifice yourself for Him and fight for the Emperor."
lose?
The headless corpse slowly bent down, picked up its own head, and put it back on.
"We lost long ago,"
The head, with its vacant gaze, spoke slowly, his hands still adjusting the angle of his head.
"Only now do I truly understand all of this,"
Outside the trenches, artillery fire and screams filled the entire war zone as the Deathguards, whose blood flowed together from the Primarch Mortarion, clashed with each other.
"After his death, we lost everything... the last person of conscience, the last leader willing to lead us... humanity has never cherished noble people."
The head was finally turned to the right angle, and blood vessels emerged from under the neck like thin snakes, densely stitching up the severed neck.
As if sensing his own recovery progress, [Vox] closed his eyes, and crimson-black blood meandered from them.
I miss him very much.

【now】
"In the name of Hades."
[Vox] muttered to himself, as if the words had given him boundless power and wisdom, but in reality, they only made him dizzy and made him feel his strength waning.
But this actually brought peace of mind to the rebellious former sadomasochist.
He stood amidst the corpses that filled the valley, countless corpses of the Star Guardians and the Guardians of the Church lying silently at his feet, intertwining with the remains of the undead from space and turning into the earth.
Surprisingly, as the battle lines advanced dynamically, the fastest advancing lines did not belong to any particular Primarch or any particular Legion.
Instead, it is an army composed entirely of the Imperial Star Guard, the Mechanicus, and the dual state religions.
Perhaps this is some kind of luck? Some kind of coincidence? [Vox] doesn't know, but this situation is not uncommon. Primarchs and Legions are not necessarily the best, perhaps.
They should have faith in human wisdom and courage.
This is a civilization composed of hundreds of millions of people. On this battlefield, those who can stand and command, and stand and charge, are selected from among hundreds of millions of people through layers of selection. They are the most talented, most diligent, and most hardworking individuals.
In some respects, they can even accomplish what can be described as "miraculous" feats, without needing any divine blessing—there have always been eccentric geniuses and prodigies in human history.
They are not even singular; when one falls, another quickly rushes in to fill the void, seemingly endless.
This is exactly what "he" is protecting. It feels pretty good. [Vox] smiled unconsciously. He didn't want to move forward yet. He needed to pause for a few seconds to relieve the dizziness he felt from praying to Hades.
This is far better than the Primarch, an old thing that has never changed since time immemorial, Vox thought with a wicked sense of humor, but he also knew how massive a system it would take to build to put the most suitable people on the battlefield.
In his world, [Guilliman] created a similar existence, but it was only open to people from specific star systems, with specific bloodlines, and with specific genes.
Here... [Vox] can see a grander, more rational, and more equitable selection system.
This requires lofty ideals and almost miraculous skills to accomplish.
He certainly knew whose masterpiece this would be.
[Vox] thought, hearing the uneven footsteps behind him, as crisp as a millipede walking in a deciduous forest.
“Give me a reason, sir,”
The mechanical tone was flat and straightforward.
"Why are you standing here? You don't belong to any company or army, and who is your commander? Is it Khorne himself?"
? !
The last sentence almost made [Vox] instinctively shudder. He turned his head sharply and saw a huge mechanical sage with a bloated hindquarters like a pill bug. A large red silk embroidered with golden prayers was draped over his body and hung down by countless black stone grains that made him dizzy.
The mechanical sage held a long black stone scepter, his mechanical face revealing neither joy nor sorrow.
"you are?"
"Vox" asked hoarsely, suddenly realizing he couldn't move because of the powerful anti-spiritual field emanating from the Mechanical Sage.
He instantly realized that he had encountered a sage of extremely high level—otherwise, the anti-psychic field of an ordinary sage or bishop would never have put him in such a passive position.
"The 741β clone of the Great Sage Kirkland is hereby ordered to provide technical and anti-psychic support to the 329th Army, and to provide these war-crazed commanders with the necessary strategic advice."
Kirkland said nonchalantly, seemingly unconcerned that [Vox] knew his identity; this confidence perhaps stemmed from his anti-psychic field.
[Vox] remained silent, feeling himself adapting rapidly. He was adapting to the Dark Realm faster and faster, which proved that he was quickly washing away the blessing from Khorne.
He spoke in a hoarse voice,
“I am [Vox] – from another world, on my way to find Hades… I have no hostility, I only wish to see him once, and then die in his blessing, and I hope you will allow me to pass.”
By Mortarion! This is the benefit of washing away the blessing of Khorne. If it were the previous Vox, he would never have uttered such humble and rational words.
"Vox?"
Kirkland became interested; no wonder the little guy looked so familiar.
"It's unbelievable that the other world's [Vox] has become like this, but it can be deduced—after all, Karas has also joined Nurgle's side."
? !
[Vox] raised an eyebrow in surprise, realizing that the sage in front of him probably knew far more than he had imagined. Judging from what the other party said, he was likely a sage within the Death Guard.
"Whether you are familiar with the other me or not... and regardless of your feelings towards him, we are different individuals, and I only wish to go to that... sir to repent, please let me pass."
That being said, [Vox] felt he could wield his Blood Scythe again, and if the other side disagreed, he would simply swing it down.
"Tsk tsk tsk, just as devout as him, little guy—I mean, put down your scythe. Your tracks are ridiculously obvious. While you were rampaging across the battlefield, the post-war intelligence station was tracking you. Do you think they would send someone who can't beat you?"
Vox took a deep breath, trying to relax his fingertips as much as possible, even though the muscles in his face twitched as a result.
"what do you want?"
He said that although he could die at any time, his previous efforts had given him a kind of illusion of success, and that he might be able to fall in front of Hades.
"Me? What do I want?"
Kirkland paused for a moment,
"That would naturally be a victory for the great Hades,"
The sage waved his hand, and [Vox] felt the heavy pressure from the anti-psychic field subside considerably.
"You are the first demon I have ever seen who actively prays to Hades. I think you deserve to be studied and collected."
Kirkland spoke casually, but then abruptly changed the subject.
“But your actions are really strange. You’re from another world. Give me a reason and let me see if you’re worth letting go.”
If it were an ordinary demon, Kirkland wouldn't waste any words and would simply chop it down with an axe. However, [Vox]'s previous actions had given him some room for defense. Kirkland had been tracking the Khorne follower's trail.
In the end, he thought that Vox's behavior was too good, and that his contribution on the battlefield even surpassed that of most Legion soldiers, and that he would take the initiative to help nearby Astral Army soldiers.
Vox's words also made Kirkland realize his views on Hades. When it comes to Hades, Kirkland will never be careless.
"..."
The sage looked at [Vox] in silence. The lie detector was always on. Even if a demon was lying, Kirkland could see through it (except for the Tzeentch demons who were good at lying).
"..."
I think,”
"Vox" said, enunciating each word clearly.
“I believe that only the underworld near him can cleanse my sins and pain, and... I haven’t seen him in a long time, I’ve forgotten what he looks like, I just want to see him one more time... to tell him that even though the whole world has fallen, there are still people who have not forgotten their past steadfastness and virtue.”
"Tsk, tsk, tsk,"
The electronic sound started.
"I'm so touched..."
Kirkland turned his head and stared at [Vox].
"But there is a 98.994% chance that your plan will fail, the demon, who loathes chaos far more than you think."
“I did not expect his response; this is my own confession.”
"Vox" said coldly, knowing full well what he would most likely face in the end.
"FINE".
Kirkland said, turning his head as if listening to something, when a piercing hissing sound came from the Sage's private communication channel.
A few seconds later, Kirkland shook his head.
“I admit you haven’t convinced me, but I can make way for you—or even help you out. A new attack route has been confirmed. Two Death Guard legions are preparing for warp jumps one sector away. A brief experimental portal has been opened—one of which happens to pass through our star system.”
Vox heard his own heart pounding wildly.
"You," he swallowed hard, "you've just decided to help me like this?"
"You're a bit arrogant, a Khorne follower. I just don't want to waste one of my combat clones here, and I need to go back and mediate the conflicts among mortals—"
As you know, the two commanders currently in charge of the battle haven't gotten along well; they were mortal enemies in the arena of the Academy of Athens.
Two score-farming maniacs, Kirkland added to himself, because of their "outstanding" performance, they were both eventually sent to the most intense battlefield.
But for these madmen, they find it sweet.
"Throwing you to another battlefield would obviously lighten my load considerably."
Kirkland casually remarked and began leading the way for Vox. After a moment's hesitation, Vox chose to follow.
Both Typhons and Mrs. Psyche have left him, while Vaux continues to go his own way.
"Also, you need to take this."
As Kirkland spoke, he handed something to [Vox] behind him with his appendage without turning his head. [Vox] couldn't see what it was at all; the object was completely obscured by a black mist-like subspace presence. The aura of the dark domain emanating from it was terrifyingly dense, but [Vox] instinctively took it.
The moment his hand touched that dark object, [Vox] almost jumped up. He felt his soul boil instantly, and because of the pain, his muscles spasmed and he gripped the object tightly.
? !
The sensation made Vox momentarily dazed; it felt like some kind of weapon… a scythe! A scythe!
"Guess what you're holding in your hand right now?"
Kirkland said casually, while Vox clenched his teeth in pain. After a moment, he hesitated and spoke.
"sickle?"
"This is no ordinary sickle,"
The great sage said quietly,
"Black Scythe's obituary: The weapon used by Hades ten thousand years ago. Ten thousand years later, Hades was resurrected, but there is no trace of his former weapon."
"I later got into a fight with the Endless One, found the trace of this weapon, and through some deals and insults, I got it back—just recently."
In reality, the deal failed because the Endless Ones did not agree. However, in the previous war, a portion of the Endless Ones' fleet was defeated by the Silent King, and Kirkland discovered the scythe among the scattered Endless Ones' ships.
He then discovered that the original part of the scythe had died in battle, and Kirkland had to replace it with another part. However, the new part also disappeared in the war, and after many changes of location, the scythe that should have been properly enshrined in the sanctuary ended up here.
