Forty-nine seconds later, Hades' archbishop appeared before him with a look of resentment on his face. Hades put away his command board and gave a forced smile.

"These past few days have been busy with the gatherings of the Underworld Cult, please bear with us."

The archbishop scratched his bald head. The news of Jin's resignation had spread far and wide, making him very envious. However, he didn't have the guts to resign. If he did, his enemies would chop him into mincemeat the moment he stepped down.

"It's not hard."

The archbishop sighed and led Hades to the office hall. Hades would spend the whole day in the cathedral, observing the selection and sorting of the soulless in the morning and interviewing the cardinals who had passed the highest written test in the afternoon.

But before that, the archbishop had to instruct the canteen to prepare more food, because Hades was coming.

------------

"Well...so sleepy."

The soulless Cecilia rubbed her eyes, wearily rising from the bench. Faint sunlight streamed through the church windows; yesterday's full-day physical fitness selection had left her utterly exhausted.

She bent down to put on her socks and shoes, and the aroma of porridge wafted into her nose. The food awakened the people, and the crowd that had been sleeping in the cathedral began to stir.

Cecilia picked up her short sword and tucked it into her waistband. She found Missing Soul with ease. Upon seeing her, Oglin happily announced that he had met Hades.

"Mmm, that's great." Cecilia replied perfunctorily. She knew that Oglin was confusing dreams with reality. The Underworld Cult had opened a special food service channel for newly recruited soulless individuals. Buckets of porridge were placed in the long corridor of the hall. Cecilia also saw bread, eggs, and seven kinds of side dishes.

To her astonishment, the servants were carrying out empty barrels. There were at least twenty barrels in total, but it was clear that they had just started eating. Who was eating these?

"You lucky greenhorns!" a gruff, fleshy-faced male soulless man shouted. Beside him stood another dauntless nun, whose sinister gaze swept over them like a wolf's. "Eat up! Today you're going to participate in the combat selection! If you pass, you can take a good gun and go to the battlefield to shoot others!"

"Twenty eggs, thank you."

Cecilia told the servant serving food that she didn't want to do clerical work or be a soulless tool for some important occasion; she wanted to go to the battlefield and eat more.

------------

Do you want light armor or heavy armor?

The mechanical sage standing next to Cecilia said, and Cecilia hesitated for a moment, "Heavy armor, thank you."

The sage ignored her, his face flashing red light. The conveyor belt above their heads immediately started operating. Cecilia looked up and saw countless suits of armor of different sizes being transported from the ceiling. A suit of armor the size of her descended.

"The heavy armor version of the Oathbreaker's Armor," the sage explained in a rambling manner, taking out a thin layer of black bodysuit that was attached to the inside of the silver-black armor.

"The original was the Oath Armor of the Silent Sisters, but the Church of the Underworld felt that depriving someone of their ability to speak was too inhumane and would greatly reduce your work efficiency, so they changed it to the Oathkeeper Armor."

The sage gestured for Cecilia to put on a bodysuit, which had grooves for injection needles.

"You can think of it simply as an external version of the Space Marine's black armor. The improvement isn't that big, but it's not small either."

"At least you can shoot someone in the head with your bare hands."

The sage bowed his head and hurriedly dressed and adjusted Cecilia's armor. Cecilia noticed that in each compartment, each soulless being was assisted by at least one sage; the proportion of sages was astonishingly high.

“Every soulless person can obtain their own exclusive armor after officially joining the Underworld Cult. After passing the test, come to me and I will design the armor according to your needs.”

The sage said that he pressed a button on Cecilia's armor, and a kind of jet of air sounded. Cecilia felt that her armor was lighter and the discomfort of wearing heavy armor was reduced.

What weapon do you prefer? Which hand are you dominant with?

The sage asked, bowing his head to examine the suitability of the armor of the soulless one. Cecilia was silent for a moment, then asked, "A shovel?"

The sage stopped what he was doing, raised his head, and silently looked at Cecilia, the red light on his face suggesting he was thinking.

"Dominant hand".

The sage repeated, “Left hand.” Cecilia quickly said—a minute later, a shovel that looked like an axe was delivered over the transmission line on the ceiling, and Cecilia hurriedly took it.

“You should thank us for now that we’re using a modular production line, patented by Minetech,” the sage said. “And praise the Nirvana system, or you won’t be getting your shovel today.”

"Thank you, Nirvana. Thank you, Nirvana."

Cecilia quickly said that she didn't understand what Nirvana was, but it was obviously a good thing that had helped her.

“This is the trigger,” the sage’s appendage extended, demonstrating the shovel to Cecilia. “Press it down, and the shovel can fire. This is the switch between single shot and burst fire. This button is the boost button; press it, and the gunpowder will explode, giving the shovel a boost.”

After the sage finished speaking, he stepped aside, gesturing for Cecilia to step onto the battlefield.

Cecilia, holding the shovel that she was quite satisfied with, nodded her thanks to the sage and stepped out. She felt better than ever before; she even felt like she could take on ten Astral Army soldiers single-handedly. Terra was indeed Terra; the speed and strength of the equipment here amazed her.

Quehun'er also came out of the cubicle. Oglin had chosen the large shield as his weapon and was awkwardly touching the helmet on his head.

Hey! Soul Loser! I'm here!

Cecilia called out, and together they walked to the entrance of the arena, where the Soulless Ones had already gathered in twos and threes.

"New recruits!"

The archbishop's voice blared over the loudspeaker, "Let me see—your selection this time involves working together to kill a demon! Hades is watching you! Good luck!"

beep—

The gate opened, and everyone suddenly froze. The stench of psychic energy wafted in, and the temperature in the air suddenly dropped several degrees. Cecilia even saw some people's legs trembling.

Cecilia, who had just been so confident, suddenly felt less certain. She quietly moved closer to Oglin's position. Quehun'er also seemed frightened, but Oglin shouted...

"I am the one Hades wants!" he shouted, grabbing his shield and charging out.

Oglin was clearly the strongest fighter among this group of oddballs, so the others rushed out in a hurry.

At the other end of the hall, filled with obstacles, the Grey Knight, wielding a heavy sword, stood before the sealing altar and slashed down the chains!

The furious roars of the three Khorne demons immediately echoed throughout the entire hall!

Cecilia watched helplessly as some people knelt down.

----------

"...?"

Hades, who was leaning back in his chair and pointing at the documents on the control board, raised his eyes.

Directly below their high platform room, the three Khorne demons were roaring.

So weak? Hades was a little puzzled. As if sensing Hades' gaze, the roars of the demons below suddenly stopped. One of the crimson demons nervously glanced behind him, then ran forward as if fleeing.

The other two, seeing it run away, immediately followed.

"..."

Hades remained silent.

"Please do not interfere with the match."

Samuel's voice rang out at the opportune moment, "Lord Hades."

"..."

He just glanced at it.

Hades had no choice but to turn his gaze away from the demons and instead look forward to the performance of the soulless ones.

Gunshots rang out, along with shouts from the crowd.

"..."

Although Hades knew that these soulless individuals were collected from all over the Empire and had not received any formal training.

But... Hades remained silent. Was this just a battle of weaklings?

He watched as people brandished their weapons like clubs, and from that perspective, the one with the shovel was actually the MVP in terms of damage output. Oglin used his large shield to pin a demon against the wall, while the rest of the people were busy dealing with two other demons, leaving Oglin standing aside.

So Euglin and the Khorne demon stared at each other and screamed.

Hades silently covered his eyes.

Fortunately, they also have a group of soulless individuals who are specifically bred by the Order's soulless members and have received training from a young age.

"This year's Warriors performed well, much better than the previous ones."

Samuel's cheerful voice rang out, and Hades turned his head to see the two Soulless Instructors nodding in satisfaction.

……

To some extent, the fact that the later education of the Underworld Cult could train them into qualified warriors is quite remarkable.

Hades fell silent, but Oglin's scream still made him a little nervous.

------------

die! ! !

Cecilia pressed the shovel firmly against the neck of the last and largest demon, her eyes bulging and her whole body trembling.

Beside her lay the soulless beings, scattered haphazardly, all rendered powerless.

They must win! They cannot fall!!!

She didn't want to go back and dig in the dirt anymore!

The Khorne demon's claws seized her shin; Cecia heard the sound of her shinbone shattering, and a sharp pain shot through her, but it also gave her the strength for the final blow.

"die!!!"

A roar erupted, and bang! Covered in blood, Cecilia stood swaying on the corpse of the Khorne demon, an eye peeking out from between the shattered helmet. She turned her head, holding a shovel in one hand and lifting the Khorne demon's head with the other.

They won! They won!!!

Through her blurred vision, she looked towards the room where Hades was, where Cecilia proudly held up the head of the demon Khorne.

"For Hades!!!"

The soulless beings lying scattered at her feet also let out faint cries; the bloody battle had made each of them feel truly baptized.

"For Hades!!!"

Hades paused for a moment, then smiled helplessly and joined the archbishop in clapping.

not bad.

5.3, great, that's it!

Chapter 634 Special Issue: A Day in the Life of Everyone

[Emperor]

The Lord of Mankind never sleeps.

The low, pious whispers of the crowd reached his ears, and the letters, like golden threads, wrapped around the figure on the throne, weaving a cloak and shaping shackles.

He simply said it was nothing out of the ordinary.

The day might begin with Hades' visit. The Emperor lowered his eyes, silently watching Hades' feigned agility and his swift, wind-like movements—

Ah.

He was still a cut above the rest.

Hades left with a clear conscience. The Lord of Mankind closed his eyes again, casually throwing out some of the scattered faith he had accumulated throughout the day. Hades lived in the palace and no longer needed his tokens.

The loss of the chaotic faith left the human ruler feeling weak, but he remained composed as he held the golden throne. His own radiance had long since dimmed compared to the starlight; the emperor was merely using the starlight to "decorate" himself.

The fox pretends to be the tiger's power.

He remained silent for a moment, waiting for his power to stabilize. In the warp, the sun shone brightly, illuminating everyone present. The Emperor heard Phenus's greeting to him.

Good morning, Dad. Everything has been running smoothly for the first 24 hours.

The once-iron-willed man had long since transformed into something even more invisible and intangible. The emperor nodded slightly and greeted his offspring.

Phenus ignored him and continued to immerse himself in the vast, ethereal data. Through repeated calculations and decisions, Phenus would grow stronger once again.

Thinking of this, the Lord of Humanity felt a small measure of comfort, and then turned his gaze to Magnus, who was near the Grey Knights—

He needed to make sure Magnus didn't do anything stupid... or... he just wanted to see him.

The Crimson Primarch was still resting, completely unaware of the Lord of Humanity's gaze. Seeing that Magnus was unharmed, the Lord of Humanity withdrew his gaze.

He rested for a while, or rather, he was tortured for a while; it made no difference to him, it was just ordinary.

Then the Emperor heard the howls of wolves in the Warp, and without hesitation, the Lord of Man bestowed the remaining power upon his fifth and sixth sons.

The Primarchs' warp connections have faded away.

For a moment, the Lord of Man might find the Great Khan and the Wolf King endearing, at least there are still Primarchs who obey him... even if one of them is somewhat unwilling.

But this is enough to make the Lord of Humanity feel gratified.

The Emperor once again attempted to make psionic connections with other Primarchs—something he did every day.
