The sound of bones breaking rang out.
William's smile widened, his white hair appeared, he waved his hand, the stool stood up again, he sat down smugly, and the dirt on the seat disappeared instantly.
On the other two seats, the representatives of the merchant fleet and the court also fell, death descended upon them, and their bodies were brutally dragged into the darkness.
"The air here is finally a bit fresher,"
Hades said, casually picking up his wine glass, "Thank you all for your help."
Kirkland raised his glass first, "To Hades."
Booz followed suit, saying, "For Hades."
“Well…” Hades lowered his voice, “we still need to eat something.”
The normal food was finally served—a salad. Along with the salad came two pale-faced new faces, who were pressed down into the empty seats left by the deceased.
Samuel pretended to eat a little, his stomach was cramping, and it was a miracle he didn't vomit. The Star Guardian commander, on the other hand, stuffed his mouth with vegetables, seemingly trying to use the herbs to detoxify himself.
Across from Samuel was "William," a man who stared at them all with a sinister look. Who exactly was he?
The dessert was served, and its sweet aroma seemed to ease some of the heaviness. After death, Hades' aura had noticeably faded and softened considerably.
“These are the pastries that the Lord of Red Sand liked back then,” Hades said, picking up another piece of cake, then sighing again as if he had thought of something.
Makado's gaze swept over Hades like a knife, and Hades paused.
"So,"
Hades said,
"Next are the transfer orders: Makado the Magician, to serve as the Director-General of the Ministry of the Interior; Kirkland the Martian Sage, to serve as the Forging General representing the Cult of Mechanics; Tull, to temporarily serve as the representative of the Merchant Fleet; and Vinan, to temporarily serve as the representative of the Inquisition."
My life has been saved.
Samuel thought that he had understood everything, and that those who remained were all "one of Hades' own people," or at least those who had passed Hades' first round of scrutiny.
Samuel breathed a sigh of relief, but the "tea" that followed shocked him. It was tea, but it was still Death's drink.
It seems that Hades would not drink anything other than Mortalian's finest brew.
Hades casually raised his glass.
"The rest is up to you. It's just a formality. Someone will be in charge of your work from now on."
Drink it all in one gulp.
Kirkland and Booz followed Hades and raised their glasses, while Macado watched them coldly, picked up his glass, changed the liquid in it, and slowly sipped it.
……
Samuel thought for a moment, since he already had resistance...
With a resolute determination to sacrifice himself for righteousness, Samuel picked up his cup, gestured for the son of Hades behind him to fill it, and then raised the cup and drank it all in one gulp.
As he dazedly put down his cup, preparing to collapse unconscious on the table, he caught a glimpse of a shocked Hades out of the corner of his eye.
He made the right bet.
The pharmacist rushed in.
..............................
Everyone rose from their seats.
"That's ridiculous..."
Hades said wearily, "I've never had such a depressing meal before. Old Ma, don't make things so difficult next time."
"This is a necessary way to establish authority."
Hades waved his hand. "Suit yourself, old Ma. I have something to do... something personal."
Macado nodded, the old man gave Hades a deep look, and then left the empty restaurant.
Hades stood up, stroked his chin, and looked at the court representative who had been ordered not to leave for the time being.
“…Don’t be afraid,” Hades said. “Could you call the Grey Knights over now? I have some questions for them.”
The red stone at Hades' waist began to gleam.
Yay, it's gone!
Chapter 613 Thousand Sons
"Are you nervous?"
Hades tapped his fingers on the table. "Little Pony, I heard from Old Pony that the current Grey Knights are a continuation of your bloodline."
He looked to his side, where a faint light flickered on the Magnus Stone, revealing the Primarch's crimson figure, chest out, but judging from his flowing hair, the Primarch seemed somewhat dejected.
"Unsurprisingly," Magnus said dejectedly, "they...drew a lot of my blood."
"..."
Hades glanced at Magnus with sympathy. Although he hadn't witnessed the Emperor and Macado's atrocities, an experience that could make a Primarch feel fear was probably not pleasant.
"I heard that there are some veterans of the Thousand Sons among the Grey Knights."
Hades continued, "...You're not looking forward to it?"
Magnus's phantom flickered.
To be more specific and precise, the Primitive Theory states that "I" do not expect—"I" am merely a part of Magnus, and "I" do not expect to see them. Perhaps other "Magnus" would expect them, but not "I."
At least "I" am only a small part of him, not enough...
Magnus paused for a moment.
"And they might not want to see 'me,'" Magnus said. "I've heard about the Grey Knights' banishment...that 'me.' Your smarter brat told me that story—by the Emperor, they hate the Warp! They hate all psykers—as a psyker, they hate other psykers! It's just—"
This is a crime that even green-skinned people wouldn't commit.
Magnus's face turned pale.
Hades blinked. "Then I'll send the Grey Knights back first—"
【Do not! 】
Magnus suddenly cried out, "No! Let me see them! The evil negative energy Og—"
The Primarch turned angrily to face Hades, his hair standing on end in fury, only to see the King of the Underworld innocently spreading his hands.
"Then I suggest you make a good impression on them."
The two stared at each other.
Magnus's towering red hair collapsed.
"You cannot deprive a father of the right to see his children," Magnus said aggressively, but his momentum had waned. "Even if that tyrant took it away ten thousand years ago... why won't He see me?!"
Hades glanced in the direction Macado had gone; he probably knew why.
If his hypothesis is correct, then the Emperor really can't say too much in front of Macado, especially in front of his son with his somewhat eccentric way of thinking.
In a way, it's also somewhat tragic.
“Old Yellow Head isn’t in good spirits,” Hades said casually. “Didn’t you see him squatting—his face was pale even when he was sitting on the golden throne?”
[The disrespectful negative psychic Oglin...]
Magnus murmured to himself, but then he heard footsteps. Hades looked up curiously, withdrawing the surging black energy outside the hall. He was quite curious to see which Grey Knight would come to see him.
The footsteps stopped.
"Please come in," Hades said, ignoring Magnus's plea to wait.
With a soft "pop," Magnus's phantom vanished.
Hades glanced awkwardly at Magnus's location and swallowed the question he was about to ask.
He looked up and saw a gleaming silver warrior standing before him, the mark of purity hanging from his armor, with no other adornments, not even a cloak.
Hades looked into the eyes of the grey knight—his face was hidden by a helmet.
"Welcome, please sit anywhere except the seat to my right."
Hades said,
"Don't be nervous. I just want to ask you about a psionic Primarch... and also discuss the possibility of the Grey Knights separating from the Inquisition."
There was a moment of silence; the gray knight did not move.
Hades raised an eyebrow and silently controlled the dark domain to converge... The powerful psionic energy felt somewhat familiar.
"Oh," Hades thought, "it must be Senko, whom I've met before."
He was about to stand up and speak when he was interrupted by the Grey Knight's words.
"Pluto,"
The grey knight said, "The Lord of the Order of Silence, the Commander of the Death Guard, the mastermind behind the Council of Nicaea, the one who burned Prospero, the accomplice of Mortalian..."
Hades sighed silently. He looked at the location of Magnus Stone again, still pretending to be dead, and even used his psionic invisibility.
Hades braced himself against the table and stood up, his action silencing the gray knight.
"There's not enough room for all of us."
Hades said, "As you can see, this is Hades, or rather... Hades."
"Who are you?"
Hades may have understood what the Grey Knight had said, but he still approached his Dark Domain. Darkness pressed down on him, but the Grey Knight did not flinch. He slowly placed his hands on his helmet and took it off.
A wise old man, his face covered in white beard, appeared before him, his features weathered by time.
"The Empire's greatest soulless being, Hades,"
He says,
“I am Azek Ahriman. You may have forgotten me, but I will always remember the scenes from the Nicaea Conference.”
Hades shrugged.
"There may be conflicts or misunderstandings between us, it doesn't matter. What are you trying to say, Ahriman? There's another question: is this your personal opinion or the Grey Knight's opinion?"
"Please forgive my offense. This is just a bit of my own confusion. If you forgive me after I've asked these questions, then... we can continue talking about the Grey Knights."
"If not, the new generation of Grand Master who will succeed me is behind the door. He can discuss the future of the Grey Knights with you. I'm sorry, Grand Master Diego is not in Terra at the moment."
Ariman said that wrinkles had crept around the corners of his eyes, but experience had added true wisdom to him.
"I am the past of the Grey Knight,"
"I am Senko."
Ahriman said he felt an endless darkness, just like that day when he had backed down and watched helplessly as the Legion was disbanded and the Primarch was taken away—but this time, he wouldn't.
"You wish to criticize my actions towards Qianzi back then?"
Hades said calmly, seemingly sensing Magnus's agitation.
“If you have lived for ten thousand years and served as a Grey Knight, Ahriman, I think you know what that event meant—the entire Legion made a pact with the Chaos, and the Lord of Man did not annihilate you all, which is the greatest mercy.”
Hades accepted Senko's emotions, after all, he had pinned the Primarch to the stage back then, but he wouldn't back down on anything else—
That incident... even if Magnus's later feats are regrettable, they cannot erase his earlier folly.
Mistakes are bound to come at a price.
Hades would not need to show excessive mercy if his descendants were still blinded by hatred ten thousand years from now.
As a Legion descendant already under Tzeentch's watchful eye, caution is never wrong.
Ahriman shook his head, his face deathly pale. The pressure from the soulless beings was leaving him feeling utterly exhausted.
"No,"
He says,
"I only hope you can enlighten me: what exactly happened to our Primarch after Prospero was burned to the ground?"
Ahriman's lips trembled; he was clearly not in good condition. Hades sensed that he was desperately trying to calm his psychic powers, yet his eyes remained fixed intently on Hades, as if he wanted to unleash a curse upon him.
"Why,"
