It's the Imperial Guards!
Did Ahriman realize that they were there to capture Hades? After all, Hades bore the marks of the Emperor's seal.
This is a good thing; the enemy has failed, and the Imperial Guard will demonstrate their crimes.
Hades crossed his arms and silently tilted his head in resignation.
Compiling scriptures is nothing compared to rallying people, even though the other side seems to have misunderstood.
Charon and his men arrived quickly, which is a good thing, though Hades suspects they had actually been lurking near the Death Guard fleet all along.
Charon bowed to the Primarchs, then walked directly toward Hades—
salute.
Magnus's eyes widened.
Yes, code
Chapter 259 is over (31k)
The debate is over.
Before it even began.
The Imperial Guard is a very delicate entity, and now is an even more delicate moment.
For a moment, not a single Primarch spoke; each Primarch looked at the two people in front of Hades with their own thoughts.
Outside the castle, the night remained deep.
Hades smiled and looked at Charon, the Imperial Guard.
"It's troublesome."
"This is our duty, Lord Hades."
Hades nodded, then turned back towards Ahriman's side.
“There seems to be a misunderstanding between us. I think the biggest controversy right now is probably about me.”
As soon as Hades finished speaking, Dorn, Guilliman, and Horus suddenly realized that something was wrong. To those who lacked psychic vision, the events did not unfold as they had imagined.
But to their surprise, Magnus seemed to agree with Hades's words.
Wasn't this originally a dispute between Mortalian and Magnus over psionic powers? When did their focus shift?
Mortarian sat silently behind the table with his arms crossed. He disliked the Imperial Guards, but that didn't mean he disliked watching them cause trouble for Magnus.
Hades still had a smile on his face, as if the conflict had never happened, but in this situation, no one would interpret his smile as having the most superficial meaning.
"Then, please have Charon explain it to me first."
Upon hearing Hades' words, Charon stepped forward, his golden armor reflecting a blinding white light, his red sideburns flying wildly.
Hades stood still, behind him, the tall and slender Sister Silent Black, clad in black armor, gripped a heavy sword in both hands, the sword resting on the ground.
Her emotionless, light blue eyes surveyed the entire hall as she stood firmly behind Hades, saying nothing.
Charon bowed again, his cold, emotionless voice ringing out.
"My lords, please forgive me for not disturbing you, but the situation is urgent and we have no choice but to come here immediately."
The words were very humble, but when paired with Charon's tone, they gradually strayed from their original meaning.
"Lord Hades is a soulless being recognized by our lord and is the master of the Silent Order of the Empire. Because of Lord Hades's own willingness, he will remain in the Fourteenth Legion for the time being."
In an instant, all the Primarchs' gazes were fixed on Hades, scrutinizing him from head to toe. Hades, however, remained calm and composed, standing there serenely.
This is an illusion.
Beneath his natural exterior, Hades screamed inwardly. He didn't know when he had suddenly become the so-called "Lord of the Silent Order," nor did he know why he was "temporarily staying."
Don't just assign him a job title like that! Is this some kind of preemptive action followed by fait accompli?!
And
Hades heard Mortalian's sudden heavy breathing behind him and realized that he had been tricked again.
But compared to Hades and Mortarion, the other Primarchs each had their own agendas.
Dorn did not dwell on the words of the Guards, and Guilliman would also let it go after some thought.
The angel pondered, leaning more towards the idea that it was a farce, but it just happened to happen at this particular time. In the archangel's mind, it was possible that the Empire had established an anti-psychic force, with the Black Ships being one example.
The Imperial Guard's reaction to Hades suggests he might be a soulless being comparable to Makado, or some other anti-psychic being.
But at least the golden psionic energy on Hades wasn't what the angels had imagined, and the archangel breathed a slight sigh of relief.
Horus remained silent, and no one knew what he was thinking.
But Horus saw a possibility in Hades.
Magnus was shocked.
He didn't understand why this kind of creature was classified as a soulless being.
He doesn't understand.
Magnus felt despair.
While the ignorant might confuse the two, Magnus, with his precise research into the warp, fully understood that they were not the same being.
They're like the difference between a blueberry and a blue whale!
This is a farce of calling a deer a horse! This is targeted! This is a distortion of the facts!
He wanted to instinctively retort, but he was already seated in the silent seat, and speaking rashly would only give Mortarian an opportunity to mock him.
Magnus was furious.
He began to use psychic powers to communicate with Ahriman, conveying the loopholes he had discovered and his will.
Ahriman, standing before him, remained silent.
But in the end, Ahriman spoke in a calm voice.
"Perhaps we need the Empire's definition of the Soulless."
Charon coldly ended the conversation, staring coldly at Ahriman.
Then he stepped back, back to where he stood alongside Blackfa, behind Hades.
"so,"
Hades said,
"At least on the topic of [myself], your accusations and insults are invalid."
Hades still wore a smile, a smile that Killieman was very familiar with. It might be mistaken for kindness, and sometimes even the person in question might think so, but in reality, it was a smile that came from having the entire situation under control.
"The Death Guard exists because of me, and because there is a special case of a Soulless One. Therefore, the Death Guard has always maintained information exchange with the Empire in this regard."
"So,"
Hades said with a smile,
"Has Thousand Sons, who is skilled in psychic abilities, maintained information exchange with the Empire regarding psychic research?"
As the last byte disappeared, the entire hall became so quiet you could hear a pin drop.
Dorn and Guilliman, on the other hand, had expressions that said it as if it were perfectly natural.
Horus, who had just been deep in thought, straightened his chest.
The angel's pupils contracted for a moment.
But Magnus and the Thousand Sons fell silent, like still sculptures, their faces grim.
They were questioned, they were provoked, but can they really answer that question?
Hades could sense the intense psionic energy within the psionic field, sparks flying everywhere. Kindly, Hades didn't shut down the psionic field for them.
This will certainly surprise other people.
Magnus remained silent, seemingly growing impatient and hurried, as if trying to conceal something. His lips moved unconsciously, as if he wanted to say something.
But he didn't say anything; he just maintained that posture.
Of course he couldn't say anything!
Hades would be truly astonished if he could actually say it.
The stupid things Magnus has done so far include—
He sacrificed one of his eyes to Tzeentch in exchange for a solution to the Thousand Sons' flesh mutation, but it turned out that the eye was only a deposit.
The fact that the Senko raised "Guardian Spirits" was actually a creation of the Great Demon Tzeentch. Magnus seemed to understand his actions, so he never allowed the Senko to use their Guardian Spirits in front of outsiders.
Through a private deal with Zhao Akada of the Forging World, they designed an intelligent mech that could be directly driven by psionic energy.
What's even more infuriating is that Zhao Akada was a forging world near TMD Barbarus, but it was stolen by Qianzi.
Oh, wait a minute, it seems the psionic-controlled Death Guardian has a similar design.
Haha, that's fine then, the last accusation is automatically invalid.
Hades mentally berated Magnus for his foolishness. He had already decided to ask Charon later if he could send a message to the Emperor, since Magnus might do something if he was provoked.
There was still no reply from the other side, so Hades remained standing there unhurriedly.
Ahriman moved his lips, as if he wanted to say something, but Thousand Sons did indeed have too much research that was not favored by the Imperial authorities. The Empire, representing ordinary mortals, naturally harbored narrow prejudices against psionicists and mutants.
He wanted to retort, but Ahriman's gaze fell on the Imperial Guard and the Silent Sisters behind Hades, on the sharp gold of the Imperial Guard and the deep, resolute black of the Silent Sisters.
Ahriman realized that this was a futile, shameless competition where the referees and contestants colluded. They first stirred up trouble, denied everything about Senko, and then lured Senko into attacking them.
Finally, they fell into their trap.
It's impossible for Senko to answer this question directly, but their silence and evasive answers have already indicated their stance.
That despicable Death Guard!
Behind Ariman, he could feel Magnus's angry yet powerless sorrow. Magnus used psychic energy to maintain his appearance, but Ariman knew that his father had long been consumed by negative emotions.
Perhaps they had been silent for too long.
"If you've already reached a conclusion, don't waste any more time. There are more important things waiting for us to deal with."
Dorn frowned and spoke.
He didn't understand why it was necessary to prove whether a Death Guardian was problematic or not; in his eyes, it had always been an emotional matter between two immature Primarchs.
He was also dissatisfied with Thousand's silence. Although Dorn knew that every legion had some things that were inconvenient to show, it did not mean that he could not feel dissatisfied with them.
The Imperial Guard, Charon, nodded.
"If there is nothing else, then we shall take our leave."
Charon and Black Mage were the first to leave the stage, followed by Death Guard. There's nothing more to say; the winner staying only makes the loser feel more ashamed.
Before leaving, Mortarian let out a brief sneer, but he was quickly pulled away by Hades and Garo.
Dorn and Guilliman offered a few words of token comfort to Magnus before leaving the chaotic hall. They could then go aboard the Blade of Vengeance to speak with Horus.
The angels and Horus took turns comforting Magnus for a while, but in the end Magnus left dejectedly, taking his several disheartened children with him.
After Magnus left, the angel and Horus spoke alone for a long time.
“Um, Charon, I can talk to—”
Hades' words were interrupted by Charon's actions.
Charon made a "stop" gesture, and he stood at attention and saluted.
Then, the guards pulled a letter from his armor.
It was a letter that shimmered with gold, the paper seemingly sprinkled with gold dust, and wrapped with a gold ribbon, sparkling and glittering.
He handed the letter to Hades.
Hades raised an eyebrow. Well, not surprising.
He took the letter, but it seemed he couldn't open it. Hades stared at the small, glittering golden object.
