Margot said calmly that the sage's words contained too many words she couldn't understand, but she could tell that this person had been shattered and rebuilt countless times—

Kirkland experienced far too much; he transcended his time. The suffering that humanity would have to endure and understand time and again in the long future was all borne by him in a short period of time.

The person who started this is unaware of it.

“He is too vast, so vast that He is ignorant. He needs to understand our rules, and I am the one who will sound the alarm for Him.”

"I can sense that the knowledge that can bring a person to the brink of collapse is, in His eyes, nothing more than common sense that He already knew, like fallen leaves withering and seeds sprouting."

Kirkland had inquired about the adults' stories.

In his early life, Pluto was ostracized by the crowd and often stared blankly at the turbid river of Barbarossa for a whole day.

The truth of the universe, to Him, is nothing more than water flowing away.

"—And He was used to it."

"He's used to it!"

Margot pondered that she knew too little, but she was trying to keep up with the sage's thinking.

"Like how that adult treated us?"

Kirkland nodded seriously.

"He never noticed anything amiss. Perhaps the Death Guard beside that lord, or even Death himself, could catch a glimpse of the truth—"

"—But they're all too numb! They've been fooled by the appearance of adults! Those Barbarosians, or those boring Terrans,"

"They haven't studied, they haven't thought, and they can't truly understand anything beyond mud or hacking!"

“They…” The sage paused for a moment; Margot could hear the crackling of electricity.

"They are war machines; they wouldn't understand."

"Not at least not now."

Margot swallowed.

"Have we understood what the adults are thinking?"

Kirkland silently shook his head.

“We cannot bear so much; we can only warn Him from our perspective and assist Him.”

"Is there any true understanding of the existence of His thoughts?"

Kirkland shook his head silently again.

"Perhaps it is death, perhaps not, but He is destined to reject people and life; He is lonely."

That's why we're needed.

Margot murmured to herself, looking at Kirkland, her golden eyes sparkling.

"Yes, He needs believers."

“We will let Him know that He is not alone.”

Kirkland extended his main limb, his fingertips tracing the edge of his red robe, and plucked a full black stone pendant.

He handed it to Margot, who carefully took it. The black gem seemed to be the deepest black, carrying the coldest and most ruthless laws of the universe.

The two huddled together in a corner, admiring the small stone.

Margot gently pinched the black stone with her fingers, a faint sense of familiarity blooming at her fingertips.

"This is?"

“A fragment that fell from the main tower when the lord performed a miracle in Barbarus.”

"His presence is in this."

"It is Him."

For Kirkland, the Black Stone is a photograph that preserves the feeling of that moment.

But it was too weak, really too weak; a mere wisp of spiritual energy could extinguish it.

"You're going to give this to me, Kirkland?"

Margot blinked in surprise and caution, looking at Kirkland, but her hands didn't stop moving. She lifted one side of her hair and hung the black stone behind her ear.

Kirkland's suppressed, low voice rang out, as if he were facing a truth he didn't want to accept.

“You are essential. That adult cares more about mortals than the beings of the Mechanicus.”

"Moreover, all of the Mechanicus's attempts have failed; you are the first mortal to find the Pluto subspace."

"He chose you."

Margot remained silent, feeling the weight on her earlobe. She remembered that day on the alien ship, the Hades staring at her.

The red light pierced through the endless darkness and pointed at her.

"But He will not allow it."

“He will not allow it now.”

"We can wait, wait for the day when He is truly known to the world."

"Will that day really come?"

"The flood will eventually come."

Kirkland whispered and drew on the ground with his limbs, and soon a three-headed hound symbol appeared on the ground.

The hounds from the underworld were ferocious, their sharp teeth bared, glaring at the two of them as if growling in low voices.

The sage pointed to the three-headed hound, "The left represents Space Marines, the middle represents mortals, and the right represents the Mechanicus."

"You are the most humble mechanical sage I have ever met."

Margot looked at Cerberus, deep in thought.

“This is His will, not mine.”

I don't know what to say, but I've already typed it out and am posting it!

Chapter 250 Praying by Name

Dungeon monitoring room.

Hades sat silently, the sound from the monitor coming through his earpiece. Slowly, very slowly, he covered his eyes.

On the other side of the room were the Death Guard's Undertaker and Star Speakers. The Undertaker was still able to stand at attention, while several Star Speakers huddled against the wall, seemingly screaming silently.

Had looked hesitantly at Ugo, while the Undertaker's Lamplighter gave the recruit a sharp look, telling him not to be overly curious.

But even though Had was a trainee undertaker, he could sense the flickering psionic atmosphere throughout the room.

The root cause of all this is—

Hades glanced at the commander Hades in the center of the room; the commander's intense anti-psychic contamination was far too conspicuous.

And the commander seems to be...out of control?

Had swallowed hard. When the commander came to find them earlier, Had could still tell that the man's abilities weren't as unstable as they were now. So what happened?

Hades stood like a statue, covering his eyes, seemingly unwilling to accept reality.

Hades remained in that position until the faint crackling of the radio waves disappeared, and after a long while, he let out a silent sigh.

Hader waited anxiously; something serious must have happened, otherwise the commander wouldn't have been so serious.

Hades experienced an embarrassment that even he himself couldn't handle for the first time.

He locked the two men together and put a surveillance camera on them to find out what they were thinking in private.

But now, he regrets it.

He needs believers, He is not alone, It is His will.

Countless words, like swords drawn from their sheaths, struck Hades's pitiful, weak, and helpless heart with pinpoint accuracy.

They even came up with a preliminary organizational structure. Who gave them this confidence?

What the hell is this?! This is such an incredibly childish and ridiculous statement!

A mouthful of blood choked in Hades' throat, and complex and subtle emotions buzzed around him like flies.

To use an imperfect analogy, it's like the subtle feeling of having someone frame and praise the booger you picked from your own nose.

He'd never... he'd never been this embarrassed before.

No, Hades needs to calm down; he can't waste too much time on emotions.

Hades took out his command board and glanced at the tasks on it.

Good, he has calmed down.

Hades began to review the incident.

Based on the gravedigger's report, along with the information found in Kirkland and their testimonies, Hades could understand why he was considered a god.

First, there's the Kirkland Sage. Sages from Mars naturally have an innate inclination towards religion.

Furthermore, Hades did actually take two bites of the Void Dragon, so he could understand the sage's fanaticism.

Actually, there had been signs in Grei'e before, but it all started after they witnessed Hades unleashing the Void Dragon Lightning.

After all, in a sense, the Void Dragons are the gods of all machines, so it can't be said that they are wrong.

The Empire is also very tolerant of the Mechanicus. As long as they don't cross the line, these techies can argue about their beliefs however they want.

After all, the structure of the Mechanicus is inherently loose, and Mars does not have a strong grasp on other forging worlds; everyone is acting under the identity of a follower of the God of Machines.

There have even been instances where Mars hoped to forge world-class machinery, but the world refused.

However, the doctrines of the various world-building religions can only be described as diverse and varied.

So as long as you don't cross the red line in scientific research, generally no one cares about these things.

Therefore, Hades only warned them not to go too far and not to speak directly, while placing the gravedigger as a supervisor.

Hades himself did not receive the prayers of the Grei's people.

Before meeting Margot, Hades did not believe he could receive or even respond to so-called "prayer".

Because the motorists had been praying for ages, but Hades hadn't heard a single sound.

So aside from keeping an eye on the Mechanicus and preventing them from getting hammered by the Empire, Hades wasn't that concerned about the matter itself.

But now things are different; Hades has realized that prayers can indeed be received.

The nature of the whole thing immediately changed.

It involves the subspace, which Hades cannot afford to be careless about.

Hades' first task now is to ascertain what these "prayer" actually are, and why he did not receive the "prayer" of the Greiel Mechanic Church, but he did receive the "prayer" of Margot.

Secondly, Hades needs to restrain these two fanatics, although the matter could end with two gunshots.

But Hades knew that prevention was better than cure, and even without Kirkland and Margo, as long as Hades's Dark Domain remained and the [Response] feature remained, such things would happen sooner or later.

If Hades doesn't address this issue, these whispered rumors will inevitably surface sooner or later. He still has the energy to manage it now, but what if a major rebellion breaks out?

Rather than letting it grow unchecked, it's better to gather it together, regulate and curb it, and then make plans when the time is right.

After all, from a basic understanding, prayer can remove debuffs. Although Hades himself is rather averse to it, if such a beneficial and harmless act truly exists...

Sigh, praying to the other side won't cost me anything.

Finally, Hades needs to be clear about the boundaries and consequences of his current actions, after all, the current chosen one is still the truth of the Empire.

The original purpose of Imperial Truth was to protect ignorant humanity from the corruption of the Warp, while also playing a certain role in curbing the source of power in the Warp.

The Emperor forbade religion because if too many people prayed, a god would actually be created in the Warp.

Or it could be a case of "forcibly ascending to godhood" to something that already exists.

When many people believe it, it becomes true.

If a believer thinks God is a tyrant, then even if he wasn't initially, under the influence of the power of faith, he will eventually gravitate towards that direction.

Hades was also afraid of this, but according to his own warp projection, the power of his followers was unlikely to be able to shape him; they would simply be devoured by Hades.
