From the day they swore to follow Mortarion, from the day they had only one makeshift gas mask, they had already begun their struggle against these Barbarosian beasts.

Back then, they relied on suicidal marches. Comrades chosen by the enemy would be responsible for drawing enemy fire, and every encounter with the enemy would be a life-or-death separation.

But now, the enemy's corpses are shattered under their scythes, and every bullet will precisely take a life!

The beast that once required an entire rebel squad to kill is now nothing compared to the modified flesh, sophisticated power armor, and advanced explosive weapons.

They will be the new Grim Reaper of Barbarossa.

Hades was somewhat exasperated to find that the outermost groups would even retreat to the inner circle after a while, not to rest, but to let their eager comrades come out and engage the enemy.

However, since it was in line with military tactics, Hades did not say much, as long as the formation of the entire army could be maintained and the marching speed could be kept up.

Mortarian's voice rang out.

"Barbarus, so it's been related all along?"

"I think so."

Hades answered silently.

Barbaros has long had an inexplicable connection with Nurgle; it was the originally destined stage, the original beginning of their destiny.

And now, fate is still trying to get back on track.

The entire army quickly advanced into the mountains, where increasingly murky rainwater accompanied by thick poisonous gas assaulted them, but the power armor blocked it one by one.

The mountain path was narrow and treacherous, unsuitable for a large force to advance. Therefore, Hades and Mortarion left two hundred Death Guards and five Untouchables at the entrance to guard the mountain path and prevent wild beasts from the wasteland from attacking the mountain.

In hindsight, this choice was correct.

Hades and Mortarion led the remaining troops up the mountain.

Led by the burial shroud, Hades and Mortarian were at the forefront of the procession. As the torrential rain washed over them, the familiar yet strange scenery and memories gradually caught up with their steps.

This is where they were shelled.

Hades instinctively became alert, but this time, the danger came from beneath his feet.

The damp, soft soil, soaked by the rain, resembled a swamp, pulling their feet to the ground. The smooth, hard feet of their power armor were covered by the soft mud.

A bolt of lightning struck.

Large and small, bloated and thin, the figures of alien lords emerged from the swamp.

Psionic fluctuations shimmered around them, and the lord's eyes were white, showing no sign of self-control.

Hades observed carefully and was certain that most of the alien lords from Barbarus were here, but surprisingly, Nacre was nowhere to be seen.

"I never imagined that they would ultimately be just another kind of puppet plaything."

Mortarian's voice rang out from behind the breathing mask: those alien lords who once oppressed the people of Barbarus and sewed puppets from human corpses were nothing more than slaves of another, higher being.

He raised his scythe and vanquished it, the chainsaw blade roared, and the chains binding the end of the scythe rattled.

"A defeated opponent is just another chance to be killed."

His response was the sound of gunfire as the Death Guards began their attack.

The psionic fluctuations emanated from among the lords. Instead of Mortarion directly harvesting the stronger aliens with his memories, Hades commanded the squad protecting the Untouchables to carefully cut off and suppress the psionic fluctuations of the alien lords.

The Untouchables were dispersed among the Xenomorphs to quell the raging warp waves and strengthen the barrier between the warp and the physical world.

Surrounded by untouchables, the alien's psionic flash dimmed instantly, and the Death Guards around it immediately seized the opportunity to begin their harvest.

Hades kept a close eye on the information on his helmet while easily slaying an alien lord. Its dazed head spun as it hit the ground, splattering blood droplets on the muddy ground.

The warp fluctuations here are intense, and the alien lords who use a lot of psionic energy have exacerbated the ripples. The life data transmitted from the untouchable armor looks terrible, and some of the weaker untouchables have even fallen into a coma.

Hades frowned. Although the Untouchables are in a restraining relationship with warp creatures, if the opponent is strong enough, it is actually possible to put pressure on the Untouchables in the opposite direction.

The good news is that the current Death Guard is sufficient to deal with these alien lords. Even though arms and bodies keep crawling out of the swamp, the Death Guard's sheer numbers and equipment advantage still make them invincible.

"The other side is trying to stall us."

Mortarian's voice came through the communication channel, the crackling of electricity almost making Hades miss what he was saying.

Mortarian lowered his gun, aiming at the corpse that had just been cut into pieces by Annihilation. The flesh rippled, as if it still wanted to piece itself back together.

"boom!"

The blue-purple flash of the alien pistol, the Netherworld Lamp, after being charged, disappeared in an instant.

Hades swept across the obituary, severing the alien's body in two, but this time it did not struggle after falling.

Hades pondered for a moment and analyzed the current battlefield situation.

The number of corpses that got up was significantly less than the number they had killed, and the number of lords on the field was gradually decreasing.

However, it will probably take some time before it is completely cleaned up.

"Continue upwards?"

"Ah."

After leaving behind enough death guards, they continued their ascent with a portion of elite death guards and death shrouds.

This time, however, no one was left behind due to the effects of the poisonous gas.

Hades instinctively held his breath.

The billowing poisonous gas swirled above the mountaintop, while the torrential rain stopped here, and the thick clouds formed a huge cavity.

A foot deep, calm rainwater had accumulated on the platform atop the mountain.

In that spot, where they had once fought the alien Nacre, a bulky figure stood there.

The brilliant and decadent colors shimmered in the dim light. A pair of enormous butterfly wings unfolded from behind Carrastyphon, and on his pale and swollen face, fine and regular patterns, like moss, climbed.

There were no other enemies in sight, no ambushes as he had imagined; he hovered there silently, his toes barely touching the water's surface.

smile.

"I've made it this far, Mortalian. I did it."

Karastiphon was talking to himself, or perhaps to Mortarian.

Hades immediately raised his incendiary gun, ready to fire—

Mortarian reached out and stopped his shot.

? !

"15 seconds."

Hades took a deep breath, suppressing his anger, and ordered the Death Guards who had followed them up the mountain to spread out and take up advantageous firing positions.

He can give them 15 seconds to think about life.

Mortarion nodded.

"Karas, why?"

Mortalian felt his voice shattering. Why? Why did he betray him?

It wasn't until Mortarian stood there and saw Karastifon's fallen figure with his own eyes that the last shred of hope in his heart was completely shattered.

Why betray them?

Could it be that Karas was bewitched by the chaos of the warp and personally fell into the abyss?

The original inertia was completely broken, and old friends turned against each other. Why?

Mortalian still remembered Karas, who had been so outspoken to him. When did he become like this?

Carrastiphon smiled.

"Weakness is the original sin."

He said.

“You are not truly weak; you have never understood that.”

Hades' roaring bullets answered him.

Mortarian was startled for a moment, but quickly raised his scythe and charged toward his former friend, while Hades' bullet grazed past him and headed straight for Carrastyphon.

"--throat--"

Karas raised his scythe and actually blocked the Primarch's powerful attack!

Strange yellow-green psionic lightning coiled around his scythe. Mortarian knew that Karas might use psionic energy, so he immediately disarmed Karas and stopped fighting him.

"We've all seen those unbearable scenes, why did you choose to fall into depravity?!"

Motalian spoke in a hoarse voice.

"There is no freedom in this world! Mortarian, war will consume us all sooner or later!"

Typhon watched them intently, while they succumbed to their own abyss without realizing it.

Associating with a tyrant who disregards the individual is destined for destruction.

"It is better to choose a benevolent father than to serve a tyrant, who will at least give us a peaceful end."

Unfortunately, He was unwilling to accept Hades, so He could only save a portion of him.

"Motalian, I believe you are not one of those people who can be fooled by appearances!"

Merciful Mortalian will understand him.

"fart!"

Seeing Mortarian retreat, Hades, who had been providing support fire, stepped forward and began to engage Karas in close combat.

"If you're forced to be a dog, then don't bark!"

Upon hearing this, Mortarian glanced at Hades incredulously. Had he ever said anything like that before?

Hades, oblivious to everything, was frantically trying to break through Calathephon's scythe defenses.

Hades's finely crafted backpack and the molten gun were pointed directly at Karas's face as he began firing, but all of them were blocked by a faint layer of psionic energy barrier around Karas Typhon.

Karas's bloated body, shrouded in psychic energy, and his psychic shield were utterly vulnerable in the face of Hades's Dark Domain!

But the prerequisite is that he breaks through Karas's defensive scythe!

The power of Khalas, cursed by Nurgle, became immense, and Hades felt his arm go numb from the shock.

Realizing Hades's intentions, Mortarion swung his scythe from the side—

Water splashes everywhere!

Karas flapped his wings and soared into the sky. His multicolored, dim wings flapped in the air, and swirling clouds of poisonous gas began to gather around him, accompanied by flashes of violent psionic energy.

“I’m so sad that you can never understand these things, Hades.”

He looked down at the tiny dot on the ground from his elevated position.

"You are too short-sighted, Hades, short-sighted and superficial."

“Whenever Mortarian and I are thinking about how we ended up here and how we should decide our own thoughts, you always leave reluctantly.”

Hades gritted his teeth as he watched the figure ascend into the sky. Why, every single time, was it a flying enemy?!

Gunshots rang out, and Carrastiphon deftly dodged the shot from the Death Guard.

"Shortsighted and foolish, fixated on their own things and unwilling to look up at the grander narratives."

Hades looked at Mortarion, whose scythe was clearly not long enough.

Hades looked at Karas again, clearly Karas was waiting for the clouds to build up before his next attack.

He opened his private communication channel and said a few words to Mortalian.

Mortarian nodded.

Hades slowly backed away.

Karas stared at him in confusion. He could feel the power of the clouds and rain gathering. They didn't have much time left. Except for Mortarian, Karas would send the rest to their deaths.

however--

Mortarion planted the scythe of obliteration into the ground beside him, while Hades, who had just retreated, suddenly charged towards Mortarion!

The Primarch crossed his arms to form a footboard, sending Hades, who was charging towards him, into the air.

"I'm shallow? You're the one who's short-sighted!"
