"Alright, I'm leaving now, or someone will find out. Also, you absolutely, positively must not mention my existence to anyone except your Heroic Spirit!"
Before leaving, Merlin gave Olga Marie a final few words of advice, just as he had when he had previously instructed her to summon a Heroic Spirit, before departing.
When Olga Marie woke up, she looked at the clock and realized she had slept for two hours. Then she got up, looked at the purple bottle in her hand, remembered the person's instructions, and after considering it for a moment, walked toward Leonardo da Vinci's workshop.
When she arrived outside Da Vinci's workshop, she found a large group of people gathered outside, seemingly doing something. She glanced around and spotted the seven members of Group A: Mashu and Romani.
"What are you all doing here?!" Olga Marie puffed out her chest, trying to appear more authoritative as she shouted.
Upon seeing her arrival, the other ordinary staff scattered like birds.
Some members of Group A glanced at her and then turned away, such as the leader of Group A, Kirishitalia.
Some showed disdain, such as Belial, who resembled a vampire.
Some gave a wry smile, such as Pepe Loruccio, who looks very much like a transvestite.
Some even ignored her, such as Hinako Akuta.
Only the doctor and Mashu turned around. The doctor looked like he'd been caught slacking off, while Mashu nodded indifferently.
Seeing their reactions, Olga Marie trembled with anger. She had successfully summoned the Heroic Spirit, so why were these people still acting like this?
She hasn't realized yet that this isn't about whether the summoning was successful or not, but rather that nobody agrees with her—as the director, she's still far from being worthy of recognition.
Olga Marie lacked leadership, charisma, and even the ability to handle unexpected situations. All she could do was put on a tough front in front of everyone to maintain that fragile balance.
However, this balance has been broken in today's summoning. The seven members of Group A know that Olga Marie does not have the qualifications to be a Master, and this illegal summoning was not reported to the United Nations.
If that's the case, wouldn't one lead to two? Wouldn't they also be able to summon Heroic Spirits? Even if they can't, now besides Da Vinci, isn't there a new Heroic Spirit?
Of the seven members in Group A, all except the most insecure one were making their own plans. After all, they believed they were stronger than Olga Marie, and the idea of a Servant switching Masters wasn't out of the question.
"Romani! I'm asking you! What are you doing here!" Seeing that several people ignored her, Olga Marie could only turn to the doctor, who was the easiest to deal with.
"Ah, well... haha, I was just a little curious." The doctor turned his head away guiltily, seemingly very embarrassed.
But that's not what Olga Marie wanted to know. "I'm asking what you're all doing blocking the doorway. Why aren't you going in!"
"For some reason, Da Vinci sealed off the workshop, so none of us can get in. We're stuck outside," the doctor explained, scratching the back of his head.
"What!" Olga Marie was clearly not expected to hear this answer. She rushed to the workshop door, and everyone else wisely made way for her.
Olga Marie, who has the authority of the director, can theoretically open access to all spaces in Chaldea. Since she has arrived, everyone tacitly agrees to let her go first.
Olga Marie's ID card was valid; however, Leonardo da Vinci had used magic to lock the workshop from the inside, and the door did not open.
Therefore, Olga Marie angrily pounded on the door: "Da Vinci, what's going on? Open the door right now!"
Chapter Ninety: Dragging Others Down (Part 1)
Two hours earlier, when Leonardo da Vinci led Yue Zhengling toward her magic workshop, they were followed by several heavily armed security personnel.
Le Zhengling didn't express any opinion on the situation. After all, his appearance was sudden. If such a world-class organization didn't even have this kind of reaction speed, then it could only be said to be abnormal.
However, seeing these guards who did not appear in the story made Yue Zhengling a little strange. After all, according to what he knew, after the Leif bombing, there were less than 20 people left in the entire Chaldea.
Why was Professor Rafe able to reduce Chaldea's staff so much at once? Were all the staff concentrated in the central control room at the time?
This is completely unreasonable! Such a large institution isn't entirely composed of researchers. Does that mean the cafeteria staff, warehouse workers, and cleaners also have to participate in the spirit transfer experiment? What excuse did Rafe use to get them to go?
Moreover, when watching the animation, there weren't actually that many casualties in the central control room at the time.
The casualty report was compiled by Leonardo da Vinci later. At the time, she said that there were less than 20 people left in Chaldea, but she also said that there were more than 60 dead and wounded. So, how many people were there in such a large organization?
In the 2.0 story, the reason why the chubby new director was able to take over the entire Chaldea was not only because all the Heroic Spirits had been repatriated at that time, and he had a special forces team under his command, but also because Chaldea was short of personnel.
Although those special forces were ineffective against Ivan the Terrible's Black Dog Legion, they were still quite formidable against ordinary magicians equipped with special gear.
On the other hand, of the forty-eight Master candidates, 38 were from prestigious magic families, and then 10 were selected from talented ordinary people. Why did all of these suitable candidates with the ability to infiltrate spirit particles happen to arrive on the day of the incident?
As the last Master to arrive, Fujimaru Ritsuka was undoubtedly the one, but why was his/her number a single digit? Why would an ordinary person have the same serial number as Group A? Did Fou see him/her as one of their own? Who would believe there wasn't a special reason behind this?
Led by Leonardo da Vinci, Yue Zhengling quickly arrived at her workshop. After entering, da Vinci said to Yue Zhengling, who was still covering her mouth, "Alright, this... well, let's sit down first. We can talk after I've taken care of some things."
As she spoke, she turned around and began to talk to the security guards behind her.
Yue Zhengling also took this opportunity to take a good look at the room that he had seen countless times in the game.
This place is completely different from the technologically advanced Chaldea; it feels like stepping back into a mid-15th-century European private laboratory.
Wooden long table, chairs and bookshelves, drawings haphazardly stuck to one side, a wooden airplane model that looks entirely handmade, and a half-finished sketch placed on an easel.
The strangest thing was the kerosene lamp on the long table, but Yue Zhengling guessed that it was probably not an ordinary oil lamp, but rather one of those magical artifacts that never go out.
Seeing that Leonardo da Vinci was still negotiating with the security guards, Yue Zhengling sat down at the long table with Fufu in her arms and began to look through the parchment manuscripts on the table without any regard for the status of a guest.
However, being a liberal arts major, he couldn't understand at all whether these were architectural drawings or drawings of some kind of mechanical parts, but there were quite a lot of these drawings, so he looked at them one by one.
When he turned to one of the middle pages, his hand paused, and his eyes became serious. The reason was simple: the drawing depicted Leonardo da Vinci.
Looking at that draft, it's still hard to imagine that Leonardo da Vinci would perfect it into a functional body, and that it would eventually save her life.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry. Those people are really something. I'm perfectly safe, yet they keep saying they want to protect me. Don't they realize that if I were in danger, they wouldn't be able to help me?"
After dismissing the security guards, Da Vinci locked the door, smiled, walked to the room next to Yue Zhengling's, and pulled up a chair to sit down.
"Huh? You're interested in my drawings?" Looking at the manuscript in Yue Zhengling's hand, she showed a surprised expression, but was also happy to have found a topic to start a conversation with.
“Da Bi… no! You… ah, no!” Yue Zhengling was trying to have a proper talk with her, but the moment he opened his mouth, he almost ruined the conversation.
He slammed his head on the table with a "bang," using the pain to stop himself from speaking recklessly.
Seeing his sudden action, Leonardo da Vinci silently took out his glasses.
The artifact's attribute has been confirmed as Chaos - Good.
Servant class: Assassin.
Da Vinci couldn't help but smile as he gathered these two pieces of information about Yue Zhengling through this special spiritual garment. This assassin was quite interesting.
"I apologize, please forgive my careless words. A nightmare once told me that this is due to the effect of evaporating rationality, so I absolutely did not mean it."
As Yue Zhengling buried his head in his work and spoke, his voice sounded muffled. Before he could even slam his head on the table, Fufu had already jumped off his shoulder, demonstrating just how quick a cat's reflexes are.
"So it's rationality evaporating, huh? You must be having a tough time." Da Vinci smiled understandingly. "So, when will you be able to have a proper chat with me?"
"Please seal off the workshop, turn off all recording equipment, and cut off all means of influencing this place from the outside in, because I don't know what I might say, and there are some things that no one but you can hear."
Le Zhengling turned his head, revealing his flushed forehead, and said earnestly.
Seeing his serious expression, Da Vinci looked at him with confusion. Seeing her expression, Yue Zhengling mouthed, "I know the doctor's true identity."
Upon seeing Yue Zhengling's words, Leonardo da Vinci, who possessed the ability to read lips, changed his expression drastically and immediately stood up and sat down by the wall to begin his work.
After a long while, Da Vinci returned to his original position and said in a very serious tone, "That's enough. Now I guarantee that no one can obtain any information from here, and I have also turned off all surveillance as you requested."
Hearing her assurance, Yue Zhengling finally sat up and said in a tone of remembrance and joy, "I'm so glad you believed me, Da Vinci. Ah, facing you, you cunning merchant, is such a complicated feeling."
“You do know who I am, but I absolutely do not know you…” Leonardo da Vinci looked at Le Zhengling with a conflicted expression.
"Of course you don't know me, because this is the first time you've met me. Well, actually, this is also the first time I've met the real you, but none of that matters. What matters is what we're about to talk about."
Chapter Ninety-One: Dragging Others Down (Part Two)
Yue Zhengling looked at her with a wry smile, "I never thought I would be summoned to Chaldea one day. I'm not even a Heroic Spirit, so why was I summoned by the Guardian Heroic Spirit Summoning System?"
As he spoke, he tapped Fufu's nose. "However, it must be because of the [Fate Knot] issue. Will I encounter this strange way of time travel a few more times in the future?"
"But let's stop complaining here. You shrewd businessman, what I'm about to tell you is something you must keep to yourself. Unless I reveal it to someone else, you absolutely cannot tell anyone else."
As Leonardo da Vinci gazed at the enigmatic servant summoned by Olga Marie, and recalling the identical woman from before, he sensed that he was in deep trouble.
Next, Le Zhengling told Leonardo da Vinci everything about the burning of human reason. During the conversation, Leonardo da Vinci was so shocked that he almost lost his composure several times, but fortunately, this omnipotent man had extraordinary wisdom and finally listened to everything after being comforted by Le Zhengling.
After Yue Zhengling finished explaining everything about the burning of humanity, he looked at the distraught Leonardo da Vinci and comforted him, "It's alright. Just like I said, a human named Fujimaru Ritsuka will save human history, and things will turn out well."
The reason she chose to tell these things to Leonardo da Vinci was not only because she trusted her, but also because Yue Zhengling's mindset had changed somewhat.
Not long ago, he met a savior with a noble character. This man, who treasured the good and pursued evil to the end, saw through his true nature and enlightened him many times. After this man, Yue Zhengling also changed a bit.
So he made a decision: since he knew about some things, he should try his best to change those bad outcomes; if he felt he was not capable enough, then he should leave it to someone who was capable enough.
Although Old Sword still gave a wry smile after hearing this determination, he said, "You're just trying to drag others down and shirk responsibility, okay? But whatever, change doesn't happen overnight, and a good start is important, so I'll just accept your decision for now."
Now, my status is quite extraordinary. I am the thirteenth member of the Royal Family—no, the thirteenth member of the Knights of the Round Table—a title personally acknowledged by King Arthur. Could it be that this title is what qualified me to become a Heroic Spirit?
Keeping this question in mind, Yue Zhengling thought that as long as he stayed here, Chaldea would eventually be able to summon King Arthur, and then he could ask him for his insights. Because through that encounter and conversation, he discovered that Old Sword was actually a person with unimaginable knowledge.
“Alright, I’ll assume you’re telling the truth for now. So what should I do now?” Just as he was lost in thought, Leonardo da Vinci had finished processing his words and asked him.
"Huh? You're asking me?" Yue Zhengling pointed to his face incredulously. "I'm telling you everything because I don't know what to do either. Besides, you're one of the top five geniuses in human history. If even you can't do it, then a weakling like me is even less likely to succeed, right?!"
"Aaaaah! Damn it! Why did I have to listen to you! If only I didn't know!" Da Vinci slumped unsteadily in the chair, shaking his head with his hands in his hands.
"I don't agree with the 'with great power comes great responsibility' nonsense, but the saying 'the more capable, the more work' is indeed true~ Now that you know everything, please work hard to change the future, you omnipotent person."
Seeing Leonardo da Vinci's terrible headache, Le Zhengling felt very pleased and a smile appeared on his lips.
"Besides, isn't the reason you stayed in Chaldea for Dr. Roman? Now that I've spoiled so much for you, you should think about how to change his self-destruction in the future."
Saying such irrelevant words, Yue Zhengling touched his throat, "Strange, why am I a little thirsty? Aren't heroic spirits supposed to not have these feelings when they transform? I didn't need to eat or drink in my previous soul state, so why am I having human-like feelings now that I've become a heroic spirit?"
Upon hearing his words, Leonardo da Vinci's eyes lit up, and he put his glasses back on to look Le Zhengling up and down.
“Huh, I didn’t even notice until you pointed it out. Why is your Spirit Origin Mode so strange?” Da Vinci adjusted the special switch on his glasses. “Your Spirit Origin seems to be half occupied by something. This way of existing is really strange… How about I do a full check?”
Upon hearing Leonardo da Vinci's suggestion, Le Zhengling thought for a moment and shook his head in refusal, "It's better not to for now. I think a lot of people will come looking for me later, and I don't want my information to be leaked. Let's wait for an opportunity and I'll secretly come to you for a check-up."
"Are you worried about Rafe?" Da Vinci mimicked the pose of a famous detective adjusting his glasses.
“Not entirely, I’m wary of those seven people in Group A…” Yue Zhengling looked up at the ceiling, deliberately avoiding looking at Da Vinci.
"Huh? Why are we on guard against Wodim and his group?" Leonardo da Vinci asked, puzzled.
Everything that Yue Zhengling had previously revealed ended at the Grand Temple of Time; he didn't mention anything about the singularities in 1.5 or the Lostbelts in 2.0.
Because of too many concerns, and because his own identity seemed to be somewhat problematic.
“Da Vinci, you refer to them by their surnames, which obviously means you’re not very close to them, right?” He knew that the Wodim that Da Vinci mentioned was the surname of the team leader of Group A.
"Of course, those seven people in Group A are the most orthodox magicians out there. They treat me completely as a tool. How could I possibly get close to people like that?" Da Vinci said in a self-deprecating tone.
"There are some things I can't tell you yet. If the Human Reason Burner doesn't survive, then everything else is out of the question. But if it does survive, please find a way to control those seven people in Group A."
At this point, Yue Zhengling shut his mouth and didn't continue. He didn't know much about the Lostbelt's plot, and he knew that Leonardo da Vinci would definitely object to him rashly suggesting killing them.
Moreover, according to Goetia, human history ended in 2018, and he could not see the existence of humans after 2017. That is why he carried out the incineration of human reason in preparation for creating a new human and continuing human history.
The information contained here is worth pondering: Did the seven people in Group A attract the alien god, or was the alien god premeditated?
If the first answer is correct, then killing those seven people would certainly stop everything. But if the second answer is correct, then even if those seven people are killed, it will be of no use, and he will also lose the innate information he knows.
Therefore, after careful consideration, Le Zhengling decided not to tell Leonardo da Vinci what happened next, and besides, the information was already quite complicated.
"Da Vinci, do you have any drinks?" Touching his throat, Yue Zhengling decided to address his own needs first.
"Yes, I have everything here. What would you like to drink?"
"Oh, thank you for your trouble, Da Vinci. Please have a Fanta."
Chapter Ninety-Two: The First Information Received
Da Vinci went to the small refrigerator, looked around, and then took out a can of orange-flavored Fanta and handed it to Yue Zhengling.
"Huh, you actually have one?" Looking at the icy bottle of soda in his hand, Le Zhengling was a little surprised. He had only been saying it casually, but he didn't expect Da Vinci to actually produce it.
“These are for Roman, since I don’t need to drink them, but that guy seems to really like these carbonated drinks, so I prepared some here as well.” Da Vinci shrugged, a faint smile on his face.
"Well, it's a sugary drink for couch potatoes, so it's more suitable for him, a total internet addict." After drinking half a can in one go, Le Zhengling let out a long sigh of relief, his thirst relieved.
"Oh, right, since we have Fanta, please also have a bottle of Master Kong Iced Tea! I've had it for over ten... um... oh well, it's been so long since I've had that stuff, please give me a bottle!"
On a whim, Yue Zhengling said to Leonardo da Vinci that although he was no longer thirsty, he suddenly wanted to savor that familiar taste. Since he had come to Chaldea, it meant that the time was already the 21st century and the Master Kong brand had been established.
“Oh, sorry, I’ve never heard of this brand before.” Da Vinci gave him a strange look. “Judging from the name, this brand must be from China, right? Is it very famous?”
When Le Zheng heard Da Vinci's words, he was stunned for a moment. "Yes, very famous. Well-known throughout the country, or rather, well-known throughout Asia."
“That’s strange. After I was summoned here, I studied a lot of miscellaneous knowledge, and I even researched world brands for a while, but I’ve never heard of this brand before.” Da Vinci adjusted his glasses, looking as if he had discovered something.
“…Oh, really? So this timeline doesn’t exist. That’s a real shame.” Yue Zhengling smiled nonchalantly, but the deep melancholy in her eyes was unmistakable.
