The three remained silent as they watched the two figures walk away.
"Sister, shall we... go in and take a look?" In the end, it was Aoko who couldn't help but suggest.
“Alright.” Orange paused for a moment before agreeing, then turned to Yuzhu. “Yuzhu, if you don’t want to come along, just wait here for us.”
Without saying a word, Kuonji Yuju took the lead, her legs encased in black stockings, and walked towards the house.
Orange, somewhat surprised by her actions, opened her mouth in disbelief, then smiled helplessly before being pulled along by Aoko's hand.
"Hey! Ice Face! You're not allowed to go first!" Qingzi shouted impatiently, pulling her sister along as they ran over.
After crossing the cordon, the three girls found that the house was no longer guarded. They first looked around outside and found that the damage was not serious. At least most of the house was intact, only blackened by smoke.
The most severely damaged areas were the shop and kitchen. The kitchen was blasted open with two holes the size of adults. The explosion was unexpectedly powerful. However, according to the woman from the clock tower, Yue Zhengling did not die in such a powerful explosion.
This made the Aozaki sisters breathe a sigh of relief.
After looking outside, the three of them walked in through the sealed main gate in an orderly manner. The simple lock-picking magic was provided by Yuzhu.
Entering the now-messy shop, the three were not too surprised because they were mentally prepared. They found nothing when they walked from the shop to the kitchen, and the remaining magical fluctuations had completely disappeared due to the passage of time.
Aoko looked at the completely unusable kitchen with a hint of disappointment. "I was hoping that Rin-chan would cook me a nice meal, but I didn't expect it to turn out like this, and even she's gone."
At this moment, Orange was squatting in front of the shop, in the passageway connecting to the backyard, when she noticed an unnatural indentation.
Yu-zhu idly looked at the menu hanging on the wall.
The three of them did their own thing, and none of them bothered the others.
But just then, footsteps came from the direction of the corridor, and the three of them immediately focused their attention there.
Chapter 55 The Things Left Behind (The End)
Yuzhu, who was most sensitive to changes in her aura, changed her expression drastically. Then, Orange also noticed the abnormality. On the other hand, Aoko curiously ran out of the kitchen and headed straight for the stairs to see what was going on.
"Qingzi! Come back quickly!" Orange, who was shocked, hurriedly tried to run over, but because she had been squatting for a long time, her legs went numb and she fell forward.
Hearing the sound of her sister falling behind her, Aoko quickly turned around and ran back after seeing her sister fall.
Just then, the person on the second floor came down the stairs. The unusually burly and imposing man squinted and quietly looked at the three girls.
Aoko, supporting Orange, turned to look at him.
Orange held onto Aoko tightly, pulling her behind her while tensing her body, trying to escape.
Yuzhu was already holding two dice in her hand, looking at this "person" as if facing a formidable enemy.
The three of them stood frozen in place, none of them daring to make the first move, because their brains, minds, and intuitions all told them that this "person" was not someone they could deal with.
The person who came downstairs was Fuabro Lloyd. He had only come to pick up the recipe that Lok Chung-ling had promised to give him, and also to take Lok Chung-ling's ID to complete the hospital admission procedures.
Yes, after sending Yue Zhengling to Guanbuzi Hospital that night, he was admitted without a license. The case concerning this store has now been secretly dealt with, but necessary things still need to be done, otherwise, when Yue Zhengling wakes up, a lot of trouble may occur.
He knew these three people had come in, and he knew they were probably related to Yue Zhengling, but he had no intention of interacting with them. So, ignoring their wariness, he slowly walked towards the door.
"Please wait a moment!" Qingzi spoke first. Although this person gave off a scary feeling, when she saw the documents in his hand, she knew that he was probably here to pick up these things.
"Are you a thief?" Aoko stared intently at the strange man.
Hearing this question, Fuabro was intrigued. People called him a monster, a heretic, an executioner, a plunderer, but no one ever called him a thief, which made him intrigued by this brave girl.
“Do I look like a thief?” Fuabro stopped, but did not turn around.
“No way!” Aoko said arrogantly, her legs spread apart and her hands on her hips.
Fuabro revealed a smile that no one could see. He felt that this girl was a bit like Yue Zhengling, not in terms of appearance, but in terms of her somewhat eccentric personality.
Although Yue Zhengling herself seemed unaware of it, in Fuaburo's perception, Yue Zhengling sometimes did inexplicable things as if she had lost her mind.
And this girl is doing just that. She knows he's a dangerous person, and she's already left quietly ignoring them, yet she ignores the two people beside her and tries to talk to him. This kind of personality is really... interesting.
"Little girl, what's your name?"
"Aozaki Aoko!" Aoko called out her name loudly.
“Aozaki? Ah, I see. Well then, I’ll remember you, Aozaki Aoko.” With that, Fuabro continued his stroll away.
After he left the store, Qingzi wanted to say something, but Chengzi had already covered her mouth tightly, and she could only make undignified "mmm" sounds.
After confirming that Fuaburo had left, Aoko patted her sister's hand that was covering her mouth, and then gasped for breath after letting go.
Orange and Yuzhu breathed a sigh of relief, then glared at Aoko in unison. Orange couldn't help but grab her ear, "What were you thinking just now?!"
"Ouch! Ouch! Ouch! Ouch! Let go, sister! Let go!" Aoko desperately tried to move her head towards Orange to reduce the pressure on her ears.
"It's good that you know pain! I'll teach you a lesson you won't forget!" Orange was furious; Qingzi's actions had almost scared her to death.
Aoko knew she had been a bit rash, but at least nothing had happened yet, so she didn't think there was a problem.
"Alright, Orange," Yuzhu said, watching the two sisters playfully bickering. "It's too dangerous here right now, let's go."
Hearing Yuzu's words, Orange released Aoko's ear, ignoring her hissing, and looked at Yuzu with confusion. "Isn't the danger over? I still want to go upstairs to take a look."
Yuzhu shook her head violently, contrary to her usual behavior, and then secretly glanced at the sky outside the hole in the kitchen, where a group of dark shadows flew by.
"No, we need to get out of here as soon as possible."
“…Okay, let’s go.” Orange stared at Yuzhu’s face, trying to see what was going on, but she felt that Yuzhu must have a reason for saying that, so she was willing to believe her.
Pulling the still reluctant Aoko away from the restaurant, Arizuki took the lead and walked ahead. As she walked, she looked at the crows on the rooftops, power lines, fences, and trash cans, her expression growing increasingly somber.
Orange finally noticed something was wrong—there were so many crows here, and none of them were cawing; they were just staring at them silently!
“Yuzhu, this is…” Orange asked, leaning close to Yuzhu’s ear.
“This should be the familiar of that person from earlier. If I’m not mistaken, that person is the 27th Dead Apostle Ancestor—Nero Chaos,” Yuzhu said in a low voice, trying to appear calm.
Upon hearing this name, Orange's expression changed drastically, and she tightened her grip on Aoko's hand.
"Calm down. He doesn't seem to want to do anything to us. We just need to get out of here quickly," Youzhu comforted softly.
"I didn't expect you to be so capable, little girl." Suddenly, the dog that had been lying by the roadside spoke up.
The three girls were startled; the voice belonged to the person who had just left.
"Don't be nervous, I have no ulterior motives towards you, I just want to confirm one thing," the old dog said listlessly.
Orange, being the elder, stepped forward and asked, "What do you want to tell us?"
Old Dog stood up, looked them over, and asked, "You know Yue Zhengling, right?"
The three reacted differently upon hearing the name.
Yuzhu didn't move, Orange nodded slightly, but Aoko asked impatiently, "You know Rin-chan!? Where is she now? What happened!"
“He died in an accident a week ago and is now at Kanbuko General Hospital.” After saying this, the dog slowly walked away, completely ignoring Aoko’s questions.
"What! Dead! Wait! Don't go, explain yourself!" Qingzi wanted to chase after him, but was held back tightly by Chengzi again.
"Sister!" Aoko turned around angrily and looked at Orange.
"Calm down! Since they said Lingjun is in the hospital, let's go there. That guy was too dangerous! I won't let you go with him!" She was so angry and protective of her sister that her face turned red.
Finally, the two sisters calmed down and planned to go to the Kanbushi City General Hospital to find out what was going on. It was for this reason that Kuonji Yuzu became curious about Rakujō Rin, whom she had never met before.
Meanwhile, at the other end of Kanbuko City, in a narrow alley between towering buildings, Kanbuko's mother saw off an ordinary girl, having just offered her advice on how to avoid the pain of love.
In the now quiet alley, she sighed softly, "So many days have passed, it seems that the child still couldn't escape..."
The faint sigh didn't travel far, and a nimble black cat led a large group of followers, darting around.
Even without that person, daily life continues...
Volume Two: Fate - Zero Point Intersection
Chapter Fifty-Six: The True Beginning
Once Yue Zhengling's soul returned to normal, he followed [Yuanjie] into that strange cave. The instant he was thrown in, he saw the black cat waving goodbye to him.
Even after passing through the cave, he was still helplessly watching himself traverse through a passage filled with indescribable colored light.
He gazed leisurely, his eyes meeting only darkness, with occasional streaks of light of different colors flashing by.
He found it incredibly interesting to look at those points of light through his own soul. Finally, unable to suppress his curiosity, he reached out and grabbed the points of light. As if finding an outlet, the points of light poured into his body. Looking at the points of light inside his translucent body, he curiously reached out and reached into his chest, wanting to take them out and examine them closely.
But every time he was about to touch those points of light, they would always avoid him. After a while, he grew tired of it and helplessly watched as more and more points of light accumulated in his body, swirling, condensing, and finally mixing together.
However, gradually, he frowned.
He initially intended to ignore the light, but gradually, he felt himself being "filled." Unbeknownst to Yue Zhengling, these orbs of light were actually the same things that his soul had scattered out when he was contemplating his name from his past life.
The only difference is that before, when his soul was absorbed by these light orbs, his age level decreased, but after absorbing these light orbs, his age level did not increase.
As the light surged in, he seemed to regain his mass. So, he pulled the Chinese knot back, and when he touched it, the red thread that had been binding him disappeared.
He let out a soft sigh of relief, hung the knot back around his waist, crossed his legs, and let himself go.
"Forget it. I'm already dead anyway, why bother caring so much?" He closed his eyes and made the decision to accept his fate.
Then, light appeared ahead in the dark passage, and he, too, fell to the ground as a seven-colored figure.
Lying on the ground, Yue Zhengling's first sight was the universe. Yes, not the starry sky, but the universe. All the planets seemed within reach, shrunk to size right in front of him, eliminating any sense of distance.
Luckily, I don't have cosmophobia or thalassophobia, otherwise I would definitely be scared and shrink into a ball.
"Where...where am I?" He wanted to suddenly realize that he knew this place, but his intuition told him that he absolutely could not say it. He got up and looked around.
Since entering this place, some memories have resurfaced, the blank space between the two lifetimes when I faced death and looked back on my life.
However, he could only recall some of it, not all of it. He remembered meeting a noble person here, and what impressed him most was the cat-ear-like upturned shape on both sides of her hair.
But now, there is no one here except him. Standing in the white sea of flowers, he looks at the dozen or so pillars of light that stand between heaven and earth.
He was certain that there was someone in one of the beams of light who could help him, so he took his first step, and then—his foot slipped, and he fell down again.
The space of thought has no distance—finding this answer in his memory, he watched himself fall in frustration, and could only smile bitterly and sigh that once a mindset is formed in the physical world, it is difficult to adapt to a new situation immediately.
He looked down at the newly appeared sea of pink flowers.
It's a place where flowers bloom in abundance; it's the last paradise.
The days are filled with the sunshine of spring and the breath of summer, while the nights are enveloped by the air of autumn and the starry sky of winter. Wildflowers bloom on the ground, and reptiles roam freely.
A stream flows through the forest, lush greenery abounds, and wild beasts rise and fall. Beautiful fairies gather at the water's source. It is the mythical land of eternal spring, a small world known as Apple Island. An ideal realm that even intelligent beasts cannot reach or attain.
—Its name is Avalon.
There, there lived a man who had secluded himself in a distant tower. However, this was not the man Yue Zhengling was looking for. The difference between someone who knew everything and someone who knew only a part of it was too great.
However, as if it were a cruel joke by the gods, once I left the white sea of flowers, the memories that had resurfaced vanished again, and I no longer knew why I had ended up there.
Staring blankly at the scenery as he plummeted downwards, he screamed in terror—
"Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!"
The magician, perched atop the tower, looked up at the figure descending from the sky and gave a meaningful smile. "Truly a rare guest among rare guests, wouldn't you say, Cathy Parluge?"
Merlin teased the three-eyed cat lying beside him with his wand, took a deep breath, and turned to walk downstairs. "Well then," he said, "let me properly entertain this strange fellow."
The young man, who seemed to be a gentle breeze blowing across the grassland, arrived on the ground faster than Yue Zhengling. He looked up and calculated the other party's landing point. He stood not far away and watched the other party's satellite land with a smile.
"Bang!" It smashed into a deep crater like something out of a comedy comic, and the pink petals were even blown into the air by the airflow.
"Ouch~ It looks like it hurts." The white-haired magician laughed carelessly, then slowly walked to the edge of the deep pit, coughed twice, and asked in a mocking tone, "Excuse me, do you need any help?"
"Please help me out, I'm stuck, thank you." Yue Zhengling's voice sounded muffled, but she was clearly still conscious.
“Okay, but I’m not comfortable with contact with strange men. How about you hold onto my cane and I’ll pull you up?” Merlin said, sticking his cane into the human-shaped pit and poking it a couple of times as if nothing was wrong.
He stabbed Yue Zhengling twice before finally managing to grab the wand with his right hand. Then, hearing that familiar "Shhhhhh" (take this!) outside, he was lifted up by a strange force and pulled out of the pit.
The warm sunlight was a bit too bright for Le Zhengling, who had just been in darkness. As he squinted and gradually adjusted to the light, he immediately recognized the smiling magician in front of him, who looked like a friendly older brother next door.
He pointed at the man in surprise and exclaimed, "It's you! The British Sword Saint!!"
The person opposite froze instantly, and the smile on their face became somewhat unnatural.
"fourfour~~four!!" Then, Yue Zhengling heard a strange laugh. She saw a small white animal that looked neither like a cat nor a dog nor a squirrel rolling around on the ground, clutching its stomach.
“Ah, the fourth lewd beast…” Yue Zhengling murmured to himself as he looked at the demon cat whose hairstyle was exactly the same as Merlin’s.
"Oh dear, it seems you know us quite well, my fellow creature." Merlin walked over to Fou, bent down and caught it, then spun it around three times before throwing it far away with a shout of "Go!!"
