Chapter 328 Car Accident
Chapter 328 Car Accident
Lu Cheng had seen the old man on television before, so he was prepared and calmly replied, "This leader is joking. State property is sacred and inviolable, and embezzling state property is an even more heinous crime. I wouldn't dare to do such a thing even if I had the greatest courage in the world."
"Regarding the funding, I have a suggestion—we can first build a batch of cell towers in Beijing and demonstrate the phone's functions in front of the leaders. Once we've confirmed everything is working correctly, we can then discuss the funding. What do you think of this approach?"
Upon hearing this, the chairman nodded in satisfaction: "Young man, you are steady and thoughtful in your work. We will do as you say."
And that's how it was settled.
The chairman also specially assigned a commissioner to assist Lu Cheng in advancing the construction of the signal tower, and requested that all local departments open green channels for this project and fully cooperate.
After the start of the school year, Shen Li's daily schedule was packed, and all her energy was focused on studying.
On the first day of school, she didn't see Ming Xiangyang in class; he only arrived late in the afternoon.
Xie Mei, who was standing next to Shen Li, leaned over and nudged her with her elbow, teasingly saying with a wink, "Look, Ming Xiangyang is doing this on purpose, isn't he? He won't come if you don't come, but as soon as you arrive at school, he immediately shows up."
Shen Li glanced at her sideways, deliberately putting on a stern face: "All you do all day is overthink things. Be careful, or I'll tell Zhao Wei that you're not paying attention in class and are always staring at other men."
Xie Mei gave a soft "humph," turned her head away, and although she was still defiant, her cheeks quietly flushed.
It must be said that the medicine Ming Xiangyang gave was really effective.
She had developed hypoglycemia and anemia after giving birth, but after taking the medicine he gave her, she felt much better, and the discomfort of feeling weak with the slightest movement had faded considerably.
The medicine he initially gave us was only enough for one month.
After that, whenever it was time to refill his medication, he would calculate the dosage and have it delivered to another hospital. He would also usually call to let him know, without saying much, just reminding him to take the medication on time.
Just then, Ming Xiangyang approached, his tone filled with concern: "Are you feeling any better?"
Shen Li nodded slightly, a faint smile in her eyes: "I feel much better, thank you for the medicine."
"It's good that it works." Ming Xiangyang's tone was calm, but a hint of relief flashed in his eyes.
On the first day of school, Shen Li and Ming Xiangyang were called to the instructor's office.
Under the constant supervision of their instructor, the two retaken all the exams from the previous semester's final exams.
Their grades were already quite good, but with the instructor standing by, there wasn't even a chance for discussion.
And so, the two of them spent a full half-day in the office.
The two of them walked out of the office together after the school bell rang in the evening.
At the school gate, Lu Zhou was already waiting there, his gaze fixed on Shen Li.
Shen Li was about to say goodbye to Ming Xiangyang when he heard him speak: "I didn't drive today, can I get a ride?"
It wasn't exactly on my way, but considering our friendship, I figured giving him a ride wouldn't hurt.
Shen Li nodded in agreement: "Okay."
Lu Zhou stared at Ming Xiangyang from the side, his eyes full of wariness—he knew perfectly well that Ming Xiangyang liked Sister Li.
He first opened the car door and let Shen Li sit in the back seat, then looked at Ming Xiangyang and said in a somewhat deliberate tone, "Ming, please sit in the front, the back seat is too cramped."
Without much thought, Ming Xiangyang nodded and replied, "Okay."
The car drove to the vicinity of Ming Xiangyang's courtyard, where his residence was just across the road, while Shen Li and the others still had to drive a little further.
So the car stopped on the opposite side of the road, allowing him to walk across.
"Bye... See you tomorrow." Ming Xiangyang got out of the car and looked back at Shen Li with a hint of barely perceptible expectation in his voice.
"See you tomorrow," Shen Li replied softly.
Lu Zhou thought to himself: "It sounds like we're going on a date tomorrow."
Shen Li watched Ming Xiangyang turn and walk across the road. Just as she was about to tell Zhao Qing to drive, she caught a glimpse of a car that had been parked on the side of the road. Without warning, the car started and sped straight toward Ming Xiangyang without even stepping on the brakes.
Everything happened in the blink of an eye.
"Zhao Qing, stop it!" Shen Li blurted out almost without hesitation, completely disregarding the potential danger that stopping the car might pose to him.
Zhao Qing reacted extremely quickly, immediately jerking the steering wheel.
Hearing the noise, Ming Xiangyang's heart tightened. He turned his head and saw a car speeding towards him. The next second, he saw Shen Li's car crash into it from the side, effectively dissipating most of the impact.
Even so, Ming Xiangyang was still grazed by the car and thrown several meters away.
Fortunately, the impact from the side dissipated the force, so his injuries were not too serious.
He struggled to his feet and immediately ran to Shen Li's car, his mind filled with concern for their safety—in the heat of the moment, neither Shen Li nor Lu Zhou had had time to fasten their seatbelts.
"Shen Li..." Ming Xiangyang pounded on the car window, his voice filled with barely concealed urgency.
Shen Li slowly raised her head; she was leaning against Lu Zhou's chest.
In the instant of impact, Lu Zhou immediately shielded her in front of him.
Ignoring her own condition, she first looked at Lu Zhou, her voice panicked: "How are you? Are you alright?"
Lu Zhou frowned, his face a little pale: "It's okay, just a little dizzy."
Lu Zhou rubbed his head.
Shen Li raised her hand and gently touched his forehead, her tone firm: "Let's go to the hospital for a check-up."
At that moment, the tapping sound on the car window started again.
Shen Li rolled down the car window, and the first thing she saw was Ming Xiangyang's worried eyes. His voice was hoarse: "Are you alright?"
"I'm fine, how are you?" Shen Li's gaze fell on his bleeding hand, and her heart tightened. "Your hand is bleeding, let's go to the hospital first."
Ming Xiangyang shook his head, his tone stubborn: "I'm fine."
After saying that, he turned and walked towards the car that had caused the accident, his eyes filled with a frighteningly sinister look.
The driver was the only person in the car that caused the accident. He was trembling all over from the look in the man's eyes and didn't even dare to lift his head.
Shen Li then looked at Zhao Qing in the driver's seat: "How are you?"
Zhao Qing flexed her wrist and said calmly, "It's nothing, my hand is just a little numb. I'll be fine after a couple of days of rest."
Shen Li helped Lu Zhou out of the car, her gaze falling on the front of her own car—the car looked ordinary, but the body had been reinforced, so even though the other driver's cab was severely deformed in the collision, the front of her own car only suffered minor damage.
Because they didn't have the habit of wearing seat belts in the back, if they had been wearing seat belts at the time, neither of them would have been injured in that level of impact.
Ming Xiangyang saw that Shen Li did not hesitate for a moment when he was in danger, and had someone drive over to stop him.
It's hard for me to calm down.
Shen Li watched as blood continued to flow from Ming Xiangyang's hands onto the ground.
