Chapter 3 The Cat Clan's Luck
Chapter 3 The Cat Clan's Luck
The blood of the royal family on the pillars of the main hall of the imperial city had not yet been wiped clean, and the entire hall was filled with a strong smell of blood.
On the high iron throne, the richly dressed Persian cat wiggled its rear end; it wasn't comfortable sitting there.
This throne was forged from the swords of 999 surrendered nobles when Emperor Manquik conquered the seven kingdoms, and it is surrounded by twisted, sharp metal thorns.
Sitting is uncomfortable, and there is no way to lean back. One can only sit upright in a perilous situation, just like the fate of royalty, who are in constant danger and must be cautious until their eventual demise.
The white-haired, blue-eyed Persian cat was squinting, standing on tiptoe, and sitting uncomfortably on the Iron Throne, shaking its large, round head.
This is the new master of the imperial city, Regent Rein, Grand Duke of Shadowmoon.
"The Shadow Guard failed? What a useless bunch of idiots, wasting my food."
In His Highness's darkness, Morga lay with his eyes closed, seemingly resting. Darkclaw opened his eyes.
The black cat judge, with a single eyelid, has short, jet-black fur that is as smooth as silk, and deep purple pupils that reveal cunning and ruthlessness.
It was the black cat's wicked scheme that allowed Grand Duke Shadowmoon to achieve his goal: with the tacit approval of the Seven-Tailed Council, he slaughtered the Mankikang royal family and became the regent of the imperial city.
"One was lost, but three came back."
The Golden Flame Knights' guardian paladins weren't the problem; the real trouble was that they had encountered humans, some of whom were traveling with Princess Sophia, which was why they couldn't complete their mission.
Raine wagged his tail, which had nine distinct rings of cat fur and a huge sapphire hanging from it, reflecting the Grand Duke's noble and pure bloodline as a nine-lived noble.
"Humans? That's impossible!"
That's just the way it is.
Raine snorted and rubbed the sapphire on his tail with the pads of his palm.
The sapphire shone brightly in the dimly lit hall. After an unknown amount of time, a woman's voice appeared in the hall.
"Why are you in such a hurry to see me? What's wrong?"
A burst of ice flame exploded on the Iron Throne, and a woman in a long robe appeared in front of the Persian cat. She didn't care about the metal thorns on the Iron Throne at all, and grabbed the Persian cat to play with.
Ryan struggled desperately, refusing to let the woman touch his stomach.
"Let go! I need to talk to you about something important!"
The woman put down the Persian cat, revealing her true face.
She was a full 1.8 meters tall, with a fit and slender figure. Her long, silvery-white hair gradually turned ice-blue at the ends, moving automatically without wind as the elements fluctuated.
The small portion of his body exposed outside his robe showed that the left half of his skin was covered with crystalline silver patterns, while the right half concealed crimson gold patterns—these were the twin magic patterns of ice and fire.
Her left eye was an icy blue, and her right eye was a lava gold. She wore a spider silk robe, and her lower body was tightly exposed, revealing her fair calves and beautiful toes.
The woman appeared to be smiling, but there was no smile in her eyes; they were icy cold.
"Speak."
"Some humans rescued Princess Sophia."
"Impossible. With me guarding this area, no human will come to disturb your good deed."
"So it seems your deterrent power isn't as strong as you claim."
Looking at the strange-looking Persian cat, the woman rubbed her chin and said.
"Oh? That's interesting. I'll look into it."
The Persian cat nodded in satisfaction, but the next moment the woman grabbed him by the back of the neck and struggled to lift him off the Iron Throne again, causing him to howl.
"Let me go."
With a loud thud, the Persian cat was mercilessly slammed onto the cold marble floor of the hall, and the woman's indifferent voice rang out again.
"Little kitty, I must remind you, the reason I'm willing to favor the Shadowmoon family is because your ancestors were very good at pleasing people, which pleased me, but you..."
Raine froze. He gritted his teeth, took off his coat, lay on the ground exposing his belly to the woman, and began to writhe and meow in a shameful manner passed down from his ancestors.
The woman laughed heartily, then reached out and patted Renn's plump, white belly a few times, and said...
"Very good, I'm satisfied with your obedience after your arrogance. I'll help you solve your little problem."
After she finished speaking, a burst of ice flame exploded, and the woman's figure disappeared from the hall.
The Persian cat, Raine, who had been wriggling on the ground, suddenly froze. After a long while, he stared at the black cat, Morga, beside him and said...
Do you think I'm ridiculous and pathetic?
Morga shook his head and said coldly.
"Ridiculous? No."
If this is all the effort required, then one can gain the favor of Illya Onyxia, the seventh seat of the Council of Hearts and Souls, and receive her patronage.
That was truly a worthwhile deal, a stroke of luck that countless cats could only dream of.
Raine looked much better. He got up from the ground, dressed, and sat back on the Iron Throne, transforming back into the majestic regent.
I hope you're telling the truth.
"You know, I always tell the truth."
