Chapter 399 The Ring of Earth

Chapter 399 The Ring of Earth

Chapter 399 The Ring of Earth

Seeing the enormous, pale golden dome that enveloped everyone, they all felt a sense of solidity emanating from it.

A profound and stable will, closely connected to the earth, conveys a sense of unwavering resolve, regardless of external forces.

"What is this?" Everyone was shocked, caught off guard by this sudden turn of events.

Soren's eyes, gleaming with an evil red light, were fixed on the ring on Dui's finger.

Even those close to Duy, such as Gandalf, Elrond, and Galadriel, looked at the ring with surprise.

Clearly, they didn't know any more than the others.

Du Yi stood calmly in front of everyone, raising his ringed hand, the golden light emanating from it making him appear like a god.

Sauron's overwhelming dark power was firmly blocked by the golden light, unable to advance even an inch.

The golden light shield was firmly rooted in the earth, becoming one with it. Sauron's power was as vast as the sea, but how could it compare to the power of the earth? Therefore, he could never break through the golden light's defense.

Upon discovering this situation, Sauron could no longer sit still. He instantly appeared outside the golden light barrier, a huge mace appearing in his hand, which he slammed heavily onto the barrier.

The golden light shield trembled instantly, causing the entire earth to shake violently.

The earth shook so violently that many people on the battlefield could not stand, and they watched the scene with fear and shock.

Even Hogsmeade and Hogwarts, thousands of kilometers away, felt the tremors. Although not as intense as those in the center of the battlefield, they were still frightened and left their homes, thinking an earthquake had occurred.

In the center of the battlefield, Sauron's all-out attack failed to break through the golden light shield's defense, but the huge commotion it caused also affected the surrounding area.

The ground within a radius of tens of miles around the battlefield was cracked, with many fissures appearing. The entire land looked as if it had been ravaged, with rivers broken and mountains collapsing, resembling the end of the world.

Only the places shrouded in golden light remained intact and untouched by destruction.

Sauron stopped his attack and stood in the void, staring at Dui through the golden light barrier.

"What is that ring of yours?" Soren finally asked, his expression filled with surprise and uncertainty.

Upon hearing Soren's words, Dui raised his hand, revealing a ring on his finger that shimmered with dazzling light.

"You mean this ring? This is the Earth Ring I crafted—Kaiya. I have to thank you for providing the ring craftsmanship, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to successfully create my own Ring of Power."

The ring in Duy's hand is one of his greatest achievements over the past few decades.

He referenced the three elements of air, water, and fire corresponding to the three rings of the elves, and used the remaining earth element, which constitutes the four elements of the world, as the source of power for his ring of power, in order to create the earth ring, Kaya.

The main face of the Earth Ring, Kaya, was forged using the last remaining Mother Mithril in Dui's possession.

The inlaid yellow diamond was itself a precious magical gem, presented by an adventurous wizard from his territory.

The adventurous wizard, while riding his flying broomstick through the Misty Mountains, unexpectedly stumbled upon two rock giants fighting.

The rock giant is as tall as a mountain and roams the Misty Mountains. When it sleeps, it is motionless, just like a high mountain, and you can't tell that the "mountain" is alive. When it moves, the mountain collapses and the earth splits, with tremendous power.

For reasons unknown, the two rock giants the adventurer encountered were like mortal enemies, driven by a mad desire to kill each other.

The adventure wizard was almost caught in the crossfire of the life-or-death battle between the two rock giants, and in the end, he could only watch helplessly as one of the rock giants died and the other was injured.

The rock giant who survived the victory fell into a deep slumber due to his severe injuries. He may wake up again in a few hundred years, or he may never wake up and become a real mountain.

The yellow gem was obtained by the adventuring wizard from the dead rock giant; it can be considered the rock giant's core.

Most importantly, there is a drop of blood at the core of this yellow gemstone.

That was a drop of Tom Bombadil's blood, and the source of the gem's power.

Dui already knew Tom Bombadil's identity. If the spider god Ugoliant was the embodiment of darkness beyond the world, then Tom Bombadil was the embodiment of the world of Arda.

He is neither the Valar nor the incarnation of Ilúvatar as Dui had speculated, but rather the earth itself.

That's why Goldenberry said Tom Bombadil was the master of the trees, mountains, and rivers, and that Tom Bombadil didn't care much about the struggle between darkness and light, and wouldn't interfere unless it was directed at the earth itself.

Therefore, after learning Tom Bombadil's identity, Dui considered Tom when preparing to make the Earth Ring.

Tom is the embodiment of the earth, the master of the earth element, and he possesses the purest and most powerful essence of the earth.

Therefore, he went to the old forest to visit Tom and Goldenberry, hoping to obtain a tuft of Tom's hair to extract its power and infuse it into the yellow gem.

Tom, however, was very generous and, upon learning that he wanted to forge the Ring of Earth, gifted him a drop of his blood.

Tom's blood is naturally more precious than his hair, containing the purest power of the earth. After being incorporated into the gem, the quality and properties of the gem undergo a qualitative change.

Once crafted into an Earth Ring, the ring's connection to the earth becomes even stronger. As long as the wearer stands on the earth, they will be protected by it, and a continuous flow of earth elemental power will gather around them, becoming the wearer's most powerful strength.

This Ring of Earth was created by Dui in response to the Three Rings of the Elves. It is a ring of the earth element, so Dui named it Cemya, which means "earth" or "ground" in Quenya.

Therefore, the Ring of Earth, Kayya, is also called the Ring of the Earth.

In the Three Rings of the Elven Spirits, the Ring of Air, Vya, can manipulate the element of air and possesses the power of understanding, freedom, and healing.

The Water Ring of Nanya can manipulate the water element and possesses the power of purity, secrecy, and protection;

The Ring of Fire, Naya, can manipulate the element of fire and possesses the power to warm, inspire, and motivate.

Dui's Earth Ring, Kaya, in addition to being able to manipulate the earth element, also possesses the power of solidity, stability, and nourishment.

In terms of defense, the Earth Ring Kaya is stronger than the other three elven rings. It can draw on the power of the earth to form the strongest defense, making it a ring primarily for defense.

Moreover, the Earth Ring's nourishing power can make barren land fertile, allow plants to grow vigorously, turn deserts into oases, and restore life to desolate lands, possessing the power to transform the landscape.

It can be said that those who wear the Earth Ring are the chosen "farmers".

On the battlefield, when Sauron heard Dui's description of the ring, besides surprise and doubt, he felt even more greed and desire to possess it.

He never expected that Dui could create a ring on his own that rivaled the Three Rings of the Elves; such talent and ability greatly surprised him.

It's worth noting that the Elven master craftsman Celebrimbor was able to successfully forge the Ring of Power thanks to Celebrimbor's meticulous instruction in the craft.

However, since it originated from the ring-making technique he taught, Sauron was confident that he could crack it.

So he used the same method he used against the three rings of the elves to open the hidden door of the Earth Ring, allowing his dark power to flow into the ring and corrupt it.

But as he chanted obscure and difficult-to-understand dark incantations, manipulating the power of darkness to flow into the Earth Ring on Dui's hand, he only felt that the Earth Ring was flawless.
