Chapter 101 Smaug the Dragon

Chapter 101 Smaug the Dragon

Chapter 101 Smaug the Dragon

After leaving the secret chamber, Bilbo tiptoed to the vault.

The treasury was a large hall filled with mountains of gold and silver jewels, which shone with a tempting gleam in the dim light.

Bilbo was stunned by the enormous treasure, but he soon fell into distress.

This mountain of treasure stretches as far as the eye can see. For him to find a fist-sized Arkenzie among so much wealth is no different from finding a needle in a haystack!

Not to mention there's a giant dragon guarding this place.

When the dragon was mentioned, Bilbo looked around, but he couldn't find any dragon.

Where did the dragon go?

Bilbo was uneasy. Had they gone into hiding?

However, seeing his invisibility and the protective spells cast by Dui, he felt somewhat relieved.

Then, stepping on the gold coins, he searched everywhere for traces of the Arkenstone.

Because the hobbits' large feet walk silently, and with the aid of Dui's spell, Bilbo walks as if weightless, and makes no sound when he steps on the gold coins.

Thus, the hidden dragon was not disturbed.

Finding a single gem among a mountain of treasure is as difficult as finding gold in sand—it's by no means easy.

However, whether it was Bilbo's good fortune or not, after searching for a long time, he finally found it on the top of the tallest golden mountain.

Before he came, Bilbo had asked Thorin what the Arkenstone looked like.

But Thorin didn't explain, only telling him that the Arkenstone was different from other gems and that he could recognize it at a glance.

Bilbo didn't understand at the time.

But upon seeing the gemstone, he was certain that it was the Arkenstone.

Arkenbrooke is a flawless white gemstone that shines with a brilliant light, as if it contains a galaxy, making its extraordinary nature immediately apparent.

The Arkenstone, also known as the Heart of the Mountain, was unearthed from the depths of the Lonely Mountain. The dwarves devoted all their efforts to forging it into a shining gem, which was then set on the throne, becoming a symbol of the kingdom's rule below the mountain.

Upon seeing the Arkenstone, Bilbo was overjoyed and immediately set off to climb the mountain of gold to retrieve it.

But just as he finally climbed up and was about to bend down to take the gem, the golden mountain beneath his feet suddenly began to shake.

The gold mountains slid down like a landslide, and even the Arkenstone diamonds disappeared into the river of gold.

A gigantic figure emerged from beneath the golden mountain.

Bilbo stared in horror, for he was standing on the head of a dragon!

Bilbo took a deep breath, immediately jumped off the giant dragon's head, tumbled down onto the golden mountain, and quickly ran away into the distance.

The dragon opened its eyes, its enormous vertical pupils locking onto Bilbo's illusory and blurry figure.

"You little thief, you don't have the aura of a dwarf or a human on you. What are you? And what kind of magic are you under? Why can't I see you?"

With a flick of its long tail, the dragon surrounded Bilbo as he fled, blocking all his escape routes.

"But I smelled your scent, heard your breath, and sensed your presence; you have nowhere to hide!"

Bilbo looked at the dragon's enormous body and the terrifying aura it exuded, and couldn't help but swallow hard.

He tried to calm his wildly beating heart and, facing the dragon's gaze, cautiously said, "Well, Smaug the Infinite Wealth, I am a hobbit. I've accidentally wandered into this place, and I apologize. I'll leave now!"

"Accidentally trespassed?" The dragon's eyes revealed a mocking glint. "Pfft, you lying thief. I've seen countless people who have been to Chiron's treasure, and they all overestimated themselves. When they were discovered, they all used sweet talk to try and get me to spare their lives."

"But do you know what their final fate was?" The dragon's cunning vertical eye was full of mockery and malice.

"What?!" Bilbo had a bad feeling and quietly reached into his pocket.

"That's what I burned to ashes with my dragon flames!" A scorching heat surged from the dragon's chest, and flames were about to burst forth from its mouth.

Seeing that things were going badly, Bilbo immediately took out the Ring from his pocket, put it on his hand, and instantly entered the Dark Realm to become invisible.

The dragon could not find Bilbo anywhere.

"Where are you? You little thief, come out here, don't be shy, step out into the light."

"I sensed something unusual about you, something about you that is made of gold but far more precious than that treasure!"

It looks like something from an old friend of mine, possessing extraordinary magic!

The language of dragons possesses a hypnotic and seductive magic.

By the time Bilbo realized what was happening, he had already removed the Ring and reappeared in the dragon's sight.

"Aha, so you're here!" The dragon's eyes lit up instantly, as if it had caught its prey.

Seeing Smaug's "I've got you" expression, Bilbo gasped for breath, quickly pulled a mandrake from his enchanted pocket, and threw it forcefully at the dragon.

A soul-stirring scream suddenly erupted from the treasure vault, echoing throughout the empty room with a deadly magic.

The dragon was struck as if by a heavy blow, and its expression instantly turned one of pain.

Although the cries of the mandrake could not kill him, they caused him great pain, as if sharp steel needles were piercing his ears and even penetrating his brain.

The dragon shook its head frantically, trying to get away from the painful sound.

But the sound echoed throughout the entire treasure vault, so where could he possibly hide?

Smaug writhed in agony, letting out agonizing roars.

Only when the dragon buries the mandrake in the gold coins during its tumbling and stops it from making a sound can it finally escape its fate.

The dragon was still shaken, followed by endless rage and hatred.

"You little thief! I'll get my revenge!!!"

"I will kill you! And your people, I will find them all and destroy them all with dragon fire!!!"

Bilbo had already taken the opportunity to run far away, but upon hearing the dragon's vow of revenge, panic and regret rose in his heart.

"No, you can't do that!"

"The other hobbits are innocent; they had no idea about this!"

Bilbo couldn't even imagine that the Shire would suffer the dragon's revenge and be consumed by flames because of him.

The dragon quickly locked onto Bilbo's location, as if it had found his weakness, its eyes filled with the satisfaction and triumph of revenge.

"They will be consumed by dragonfire because of your offense against the dragon! And you will be powerless to stop it!"

Bilbo was unsettled by the dragon's words.

He gritted his teeth, his eyes resolute, determined not to let the dragon have a chance to leave Lonely Mountain!

Otherwise, Ciel might face annihilation.

Thinking this, he immediately took out the gold coin that Dui had given him and tapped it repeatedly with his finger.

"Got you!"

The dragon suddenly appeared in front of Bilbo, its huge vertical eyes staring at him with a ferocious and evil smile.

Bilbo looked terrified as he watched the dragon's mouth open towards him, about to spew forth flames.

"Shatter to pieces!" A dazzling spell struck the dragon instantly.

"Duir!" Bilbo exclaimed in surprise, as if he had seen a savior.

Dui rode his flying broomstick and swiftly charged toward Bilbo, lifting him up and tossing him behind him, thus avoiding the dragon's flames.

Dui stared intently at the unharmed dragon.

The dragon's defenses were so strong that even powerful spells couldn't break through its scales and cause it any damage.

"A wizard?" The dragon Smaug stopped attacking and looked at the suddenly appearing Dui with surprise and doubt.

"Who are you? And where do you come from?"
