Chapter 396 Observations from the Boxing Ring
Chapter 396 Observations from the Boxing Ring
The journey was spent listening to the introductions from the fourth wife.
Half an hour later, in the back alley of Yu Chau Street, Sham Shui Po.
The driver turned off the engine, turned around, and said, "Boss, we're here. I'll get off now!"
"Um!"
Fourth Aunt nodded slightly.
I glanced outside and saw two burly men leaning against the wall at the alley entrance, smoking.
The two men, dressed in black T-shirts and jeans, appeared casual, but their eyes were bright, locking the entire back alley in their eyes.
After the driver got out of the car, he said something to the two men, who nodded. One of them went back to report the news.
A little over a minute later, the person who had left returned with another man.
The man who returned looked to be in his early forties, short and stocky, bald, with a scar on his forehead, somewhat resembling Brother B from the "Young and Dangerous" movies.
"This guy's a bouncer, a big shot at Wo Shing Wo, his name's Big Head Biao!" Fourth Wife said softly as she watched the man and his driver approach.
Just after the introductions were finished, the driver and Big Head arrived and stood respectfully in front of the car door.
Fourth Wife opened the door and came downstairs first.
We followed Fourth Aunt and got off the car one by one.
Seeing us get out of the car, Big Head's gaze lingered on Fourth Wife and Luo Yufu for a moment, then he said with a forced smile, "Mr. Liang, Mrs. Luo, this way please, seats have been reserved for you!"
"Um!"
Fourth Wife nodded and asked, "Ah Biao, what's on the program today?"
"Young Master Lang is here today. He brought two boxers from Siam, and they've taken their drugs!" Big Head said with a smile.
"Is he here again?" Fourth Wife asked.
"Mr. Liang, you know that Young Master Lang spends about half the month here with us!" Big Head Biao chuckled.
I lagged behind Fourth Sister, following them inside while observing the surrounding environment.
This guy with the big head, he looks honest and simple. He had a smile on his face ever since he picked us up from the car, but I could smell blood on him.
The fishy smell was impossible to hide; it was as if it had been pickled and seasoned.
I can confirm that no fewer than ten people died at his hands.
Soon, we arrived at the innermost iron gate.
Upon arriving at the door, the logo was scribbled across, revealing a palm-sized opening that exposed an input device.
The big logo was pressed with a password, the iron gate slid open, and a smell mixed with sweat, blood, sandalwood and cheap tobacco wafted out.
Besides the smell, you could also faintly hear cheers and shouts.
After walking a few steps inside, I arrived at the elevator.
The elevator had no floor markings, only a down button.
After entering the elevator, a few seconds later, I heard a soft "ding" and the door opened.
After coming out, the musty smell of various mixed odors was gone, replaced by a long corridor covered with a red carpet.
Big Head led us into a room with warm yellow lighting and freshly brewed tea on the coffee table.
What caught my attention was not this, but the huge one-way mirror inside.
Through the glass, you can see that we are high up here, directly facing the iron cage boxing ring in the middle of the ground.
The boxing ring was brightly lit by high-intensity white lights, and the surrounding area was packed with people. The noise, cursing, betting, and shouting could only be faintly heard through the glass, and did not disturb the people inside the room in the slightest.
Upon reaching the glass, one can see that the audience area below is densely packed with people; a rough estimate suggests there are at least five hundred people.
Although the booths on the second floor were not very clear, they were almost full, and every now and then you could see people standing up in the booths and yelling at the boxing ring.
"Mr. Liang, the booth is still reserved. If you want to go down, you can go through the side door. I've reserved it for you!" Big Head Biao poured tea and handed it to Fourth Wife with a smile.
"Um!"
Fourth Aunt nodded and said, "Turn up the volume. These are my friends' first time here; let them experience the enthusiasm of the audience!"
"Why!"
Big Head immediately nodded, picked up something that looked like a remote control from the coffee table, and pressed it twice.
"Go ahead and fight!"
"Grass!"
"Damn it!"
After the button was pressed, an indescribable frenzied shout echoed from inside the room.
Wow, that's awesome!
Fatty Lin was a little excited when he heard that.
"Kobayashi, if you want excitement, you have to go down there and experience it!"
Luo Yufu naturally hugged Lin Pangzi's arm and gently patted his hand as she spoke.
"Okay, Sister Fu, I'll listen to you. Let's go down there and experience it!" Fatty Lin said cooperatively.
Their affectionate display was entirely improvised.
These past few days, every time they've appeared in public, they've done this; we've gotten used to it.
So, none of us reacted much.
But the big-head logo was different; it was the first time he'd ever seen one!
Seeing the two of them like this, his smile froze for a moment, and a look that was hard to tell whether it was contempt or envy flashed in his eyes. He quickly forced a smile and said, "Mrs. Luo, this way, I'll take you there!"
"Um!"
Luo Yufu, who had been smiling just moments before, glanced at the headshot, her smile vanished, and she nodded coldly.
Big Head's eyes flashed, and he said with a forced smile, "This way!"
He spoke as he walked to the side.
I almost burst out laughing at this scene. I have to say, Big Head Biao, the bouncer, is very good at reading people's expressions.
There is a small door on the side of the room. Opening it leads to a corridor. Walking along the corridor, after a few steps, you reach a staircase leading down.
The staircase has only five steps, and after you come down, there's another small door.
Through the door, you could hear the curses and cheers outside.
Upon opening it, a strange odor mixed with various smells and a deafening noise rushed in, giving me an unnatural jolt, and I instantly became alert.
After you come out, there is a booth right next to you.
After Da Tou Biao led us to our seats, he didn't linger and said goodbye.
"That big shot really knows how to get things done!"
After Big Head left, Fatty Lin looked at the boxers in the ring and turned to Fourth Aunt, saying something.
"Those who can manage this place are definitely not easy to deal with!"
Fourth Aunt said.
"Those two in the ring aren't all that great!"
I said, looking at the two boxers fighting on the stage.
These two boxers in the ring weren't very skilled; their fighting style was a bit haphazard. But there was one thing that got people's blood pumping: every punch landed hard, and they fought with such ferocity and determination, as if their opponents were sworn enemies from eight lifetimes ago.
That's not the key point. The key point is that any trick will do. One of them already had his eyeball gouged out and was hanging in his eye socket.
Even so, this person did not beg for mercy, as if he did not feel pain, and continued to fight desperately.
This scene made me understand what Big Head Brand meant when he said he had taken medicine.
"He must have been cursed; he can't feel any pain anymore. After this fight, he might lose his life!" Fatty Lin said.
"I heard that General Manager Liang and Mrs. Luo are here, so I came to see them!"
As soon as the words were spoken, a slightly hoarse and unruly voice rang out, and a man in his thirties, pale-faced and looking utterly ruined by wine and women, walked in.
