Chapter 118 All Arrived
Chapter 118 All Arrived
Xiao Laiya's face first lit up with surprise, then his expression turned strange. "Didn't I just say that the betting game was a conspiracy and that all the money won't be recovered?"
"It's alright, just consider it a gift of money."
If someone is about to die, it's not unreasonable for a kind person to give a small gift as a gesture of goodwill.
Xiao Leya looked bewildered. What did that mean?
After finding out where the casino owner's room was, Yelena and the others got up and went upstairs.
"I am Cavendish the White Horse! If that black-robed hunter dares to come, I'll make sure he never returns!"
Halfway there, a voice that was both unfamiliar and somewhat familiar reached their ears.
Yelena turned her head and spotted Cavendish on the steps diagonally above her.
He stood on the table and passionately recounted his grand ambitions to the female pirates around him.
Female pirates kept arriving from other floors, and soon they surrounded him in layers.
The scene left the male pirates on the nearby floors dumbfounded; some gritted their teeth and chug down their drinks.
"What's so great about this kid? He's just a bit stronger and better looking, right?"
Mr. 9 looked wary and turned to Miss. Monday beside him. "You're not thinking of joining in too, are you?"
"How could that be? Since the boss considers him an enemy, then he is my enemy!" Miss Monday's gaze was firm.
Mr. 9 immediately breathed a sigh of relief.
Yelena and Vivi exchanged a knowing smile; something was definitely going on between them.
Yelena knew perfectly well that in the original timeline, Mr. 9 and Miss. Monday got married and settled in Whiskey Peak.
Her involvement accelerated the progress of their relationship, as they often trained together and spent more time together.
Upon reaching the top floor of the cave, one finds far fewer pirates compared to the other floors.
The group brushed past a tall, blond man wearing a white cloak, accompanied by a person wielding an iron claw.
The conversation between the two reached Yelena's ears.
"How many pirate crews have arrived?"
"Including those who just placed their bets, there are already fifty-seven. I heard from the people down there that another supernova besides Cavendish has also landed and should be here soon."
"Supernovas? Heh, they're just a bunch of fools chasing after some vague and elusive treasure. But these guys do have some skill."
The blond man's gaze swept over Yelena and the others, his eyes filled with disdain. "Another bunch of guys hoping to win big with a small investment. Go inside; you can place bets there."
Yelena didn't stop walking; she recognized the man as General Gaspard.
Entering the central room on the top floor, a middle-aged, overweight man with a mohawk sat casually behind the gambling table.
Upon seeing someone enter, his eyes lit up at first, then wary. "I don't recall inviting you, did I?"
Ikaram walked to the table. "I heard there's a hunting competition here. Whoever can defeat the black-robed hunter will win a huge prize. We want to participate too."
"If I'm betting, can I bet on myself to win?"
The casino owner's wariness deepened. "Where did you get this information from?"
With a wave of his hand, more than a dozen burly men in black suits quickly approached and surrounded the five men.
Icarus was stunned. "I heard it from Cavendish. When we landed on the island, he was shouting loudly at the dock... He's right down there. You can ask him if you don't believe me."
The casino owner froze, then slapped his forehead hard. "That big mouth... never mind, I can't afford to mess with a supernova."
He took out the register. "So, how much do you want to bet? Don't blame me for not warning you, the odds for unknown pirates like you are ridiculously high. I suggest you bet your money on the popular ones."
He handed the form with the odds to Icarus.
The group of people went over to take a look.
Cavendish is at the top of the list with odds of 2 to 1.
It seems most people believe he can easily defeat the Black-Robed Hunter.
Gaspard is second, with odds of 1 to 10.
Extremely shrunken.
The following ones are even lower.
"There's nothing we can do; the Black-Robed Hunter's reputation is just too great. Ordinary pirates are no match for him!"
Seeing that the group was engrossed in studying the list, the casino owner suddenly changed his tone, his voice becoming seductive:
"However, it's not necessarily a case of the strong prevailing. This hunt has no rules, so you might be able to pick off some survivors. So, tell me, who are you betting on to win?"
"We'll crush ourselves!" Icarus's face lit up with fanaticism. "If we defeat the Black-Robed Hunters, we'll surely become famous throughout the Grand Line!"
A flash of mockery crossed the casino owner's eyes. "You've got guts! How much are you betting? For rookie pirates like you who haven't even had a bounty, the odds are 1 to 300, very low. But if you win, you'll make a guaranteed 300 times your initial investment!"
Icarum pulled out a stack of Berries. "This is all the money we have."
The casino owner quickly took it. "Strange, why does it smell like perfume? Oh well, money is money, who cares if it smells good or bad?"
He quickly counted the money, complaining, "Only 500,000 Berries? Don't you know the minimum bet in this game is two million? Some people have even bet over a hundred million!"
"Then we won't gamble," Icarus said, pretending to reach out his hand to take it back.
The casino owner's expression changed instantly, and he said with a smile, "Since you're already here, I'll make an exception for you. Don't tell anyone, okay?"
Over the next two days, Yelena and the others split up, with some staying in town and others stationed at the underground casino to register any pirate crews that would arrive later.
Based on what I saw on the casino list earlier, there are as many as 103 pirate crews.
That evening, Xiao Laiya came to his door, his face anxious. "When are we going to move? The pirates are all here, and Gaspard and the others could leave at any moment!"
"Huh? Why are you alone? Where are the others?"
In the hotel room, only Yelena sat at the table, wiping the longsword in her hand.
Without looking up, she replied, "They went to get the money."
Following the lingering scent on the 500,000 Berries, she found the casino owner's secret residence the very night she handed over the bet. Just minutes earlier, Vivi and the others had set off.
"Withdraw the money?" Xiao Leya's anxiety deepened. "Didn't we agree that all the money would be yours after we defeated Gaspard?!"
"How could the two of us possibly defeat an entire pirate crew? When will they be back?"
Swish!
Yelena sheathed her sword and stood up, her aura suddenly changing.
The difference between a docile sheep and a bloodthirsty beast is as thin as a sheet of paper, easily pierced.
She chuckled and said, "Two people are enough. You lead the way."
She was in charge of killing the enemy.
Xiao Leya took a step back, his head hitting the doorframe. He swallowed hard. "Okay, okay!"
