Chapter 48: Hoping to Change Fate
Chapter 48: Hoping to Change Fate
T. Peng En looked puzzled, thinking that this person was going to finish off the white bear, but instead he was doing something that was hard to understand.
Yelena put away the wanted poster and casually made up a story: "It's a personal preference, don't worry about it."
"By the way, what are you going to do with this guy?" She pointed to the polar bear on the ground.
What a strange hobby!
T. Penn had no habit of prying into other people's privacy, and thus put Yelena's strange behavior out of his mind.
"As is customary, when pirates of this caliber are captured, especially those with Devil Fruit powers, they are taken to Impel Down."
Yelena nodded. "Let's do it that way."
Before fighting the polar bear, she had already used up her monthly item usage chances and obtained 6 points of strength from Captain Boulder of Ship Number Three.
In retrospect, it was remarkably prescient.
Without these powers, she would have a much harder time breaking through the polar bear's defenses, making the outcome of the battle uncertain.
Today is only the first of the month; if you want to obtain the polar bear attribute, you'll have to wait at least a month.
During this time, we must not let the other side die.
At the edge of the beach, the man in military uniform quietly retreated without attracting the attention of the two people on the shore.
He walked quickly to the alley opposite the garbage disposal plant, where several people wearing gray cloaks were waiting.
The cloaked figure at the head was petite. Upon seeing the man in military uniform arrive, she stepped forward, grabbed his ear, and growled in a low voice:
"Sabo! Where have you been?! Why are you only coming back now?"
The movement was so large that the hood was knocked open, revealing short orange hair underneath.
"Hiss! Let go! Let go! It was my fault, Kera!"
The man in the military uniform, Sabo, took off his hat and looked at his comrade with a hint of fear in his eyes.
Are all girls these days so scary?
Each one is more violent than the last!
"I just watched a good show, I'll tell you later. By the way, how did things go?"
Getting down to business, Kerla immediately released his grip, "We secretly followed those sailors and saw with our own eyes them escorting the kidnapped people onto the warship."
Sabo rubbed his bright red ears and nodded. "We were a step too late this time, but luckily the Navy was here."
"I never imagined there were such righteous people in the Navy! In the past year, Colonel T. Penn has rescued many civilians from the slave traders! Even the commander has praised him highly!"
Recalling her childhood experience of being captured and enslaved, Kella's eyes reddened slightly. She felt genuinely happy for those who were rescued and grateful that they had met an upright navy officer.
Seeing that his companion was in a bad mood, Sabo scratched his head and tried to change the subject.
"Speaking of which, I originally planned to buy a Devil Fruit on the underground black market, but something unexpected happened, and the fruit was stolen before it could be sold."
Kera looked at the box in Sabo's hand. "So, the money's still with you? What do you plan to do? Return it?"
Sabo shook his head. "Of course not, I worked hard to scam—no, I worked hard to get this money!"
"My undercover mission is over. I am about to leave the North Sea. I will give the two hundred million Berries to Commander Karas to be used as military expenses for the Northern Army."
Kella was somewhat surprised. "Leaving? You're getting a promotion?"
"I don't know, let's leave it to Mr. Long."
At the seaside, the warships finally arrived, and the sailors disembarked with their weapons.
But what enemies do they need to deal with right now?
What about the White Bear Pirates?
Didn't the colonel say that the Black-Robed Hunter was facing an entire pirate crew alone, and ordered them to get there as quickly as possible?
Coming to collect the body?
"Find more people and dig a deep pit in the woods over there, the deeper the better, and bury all the pirate corpses in it."
A deep, hoarse voice came through, and upon hearing that familiar tone, the navy men jolted awake and immediately came to their senses.
They quickly did as Yelena instructed.
Some dug the pit, others carried the corpse.
As they carried it, the sailors' expressions changed.
Someone spoke up, trembling, "Don't you think there are a lot of corpses?"
They wanted to distinguish which pirates were unconscious and which had died in battle, but after searching the entire beach, they couldn't find a single survivor!
More than half of them died from being pierced through vital organs such as the heart or neck!
A familiar murder method!
Over the past year, they had worked with the black-robed hunters several times and were no strangers to this method of death.
However, there are far too many today.
The pit gradually filled with the figures of pirates. Looking at the terrifying scene before them, even some seasoned marines felt a little scared.
"Fortunately, such a powerful individual is not our enemy!"
"A terrifying fellow! He's practically death itself!"
"The black-robed hunter is Death, could the colonel be Death's messenger?"
"What nonsense! The colonel may look like a zombie, but he's incredibly kind and gentle at heart!"
Yelena had already returned to the warship and was unaware that the sailors were talking about her behind her back.
After leaving the infirmary, she returned to her temporary room, quickly washed up, and changed into a brand-new black cloak.
Then they went up to the deck and met up with T. Penn.
"The polar bear's hands and feet are bound with sea stone shackles, and he has been locked in a temporary prison on the bottom deck of the warship. After he returns to the Notis branch to recuperate, I will personally escort him to Impel Down."
"Oh, by the way, this is for you."
T. Penn pulled the Shield-Shield Fruit from his pocket.
Yelena glanced at it but didn't take it.
"Eat it."
T. Peng tilted his head, a question mark appearing in his eyes. "What did you say?"
"Stop! With your appearance, please don't try to do anything cute like a pretty girl, it's terrifying!"
Yelena said she couldn't bear to watch, and even tilted her head to act cute. Does she think she's Nami or Robin?
"Eat the fruit; it will greatly help your strength."
T. Peng shook his head in refusal, "No way! This fruit is something you worked so hard for... so hard for... um..."
wrong!
What's so hard about it?
The fruit was stolen by this guy; it's loot.
Yelena didn't waste any words with him. She snatched the Shield-Shield Fruit, pressed his head down with one hand, and stuffed the entire fruit into his head with the other!
clap clap clap!
After you're done, slap his head hard.
"Ugh... Ugh!! Glug~"
T. Peng En choked on the enormous fruit, his face turning red, and it took him a great deal of effort to swallow it!
"Cough cough...cough cough!!"
"All done, let's test the results first."
Yelena drew her longsword and slashed at T. Penn with five-tenths of her strength.
As the blade drew ever closer, T. Penn suddenly jolted awake and instinctively activated his ability.
His entire body gleamed with a metallic sheen.
clang!
Yelena's longsword struck T. Penn in the chest, accompanied by scattered sparks and the clang of metal carrying far.
Seeing this, Yelena nodded in satisfaction. It seems that the most basic attribute of the Shield-Shield Fruit is to turn the user's body into steel.
With this ability, one day in the future, this person should no longer be killed by an ordinary person's sneak attack.
Having been her swordsmanship teacher for a year, Yelena hoped to change her fate.
It's ironic that a righteous navy officer dies at the hands of the very person he's protecting.
Even if the other party is very likely to be deliberately courting death.
"With the sword in your hand and the shield on your back, you can better protect those behind you!"
"Please accept this, Professor T. Peng En. It's a parting gift from your student."
