Chapter 7 Marshal Anaos
Chapter 7 Marshal Anaos
"Um... this..." Laureen stammered, glancing furtively at the corner of her eye.
Laureen coughed twice, feigning an urge: "Ahem... Whether Lord Cheng Chu has an intellectual disability still needs to be verified. The hospital will conduct an examination to determine this later. But today, General Mikel must cooperate with our Xiongbao Association's investigation and come with us."
That's utterly outrageous; they're taking them away regardless of whether it's true or not. But everyone knows that it's virtually impossible for a female insect that enters the Male Protection Association to leave unharmed.
Just then, a series of orderly footsteps sounded outside amidst the noise.
"It's the female soldiers from the military headquarters."
The small ward was packed with people, and someone outside shouted something.
A group of well-trained female soldiers kept the onlookers at a distance, while Elijah and a dozen or so female soldiers stood at the door, surrounding Anaos.
The S-rank middle-aged female soldier wore a crisp military uniform, with silver hair and red eyes; her gaze was deep and sharp. Her upright posture, honed by countless battles large and small, exuded an aura of quiet authority.
Marshal Anaos! The staff of the Xiongbao Association gasped and consciously stepped aside.
Elijah winked at his general, signaling that he was the one who had invited the marshal. Mikel received the message but didn't show it, though he secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
Anaos looked around and saw Mikel, wrapped only in a blanket, being protected behind a black-haired, black-eyed male insect. They had retreated to a corner. Mikel looked unwell, his brows furrowing deeper the more he looked.
Mikel gently shook his head at Anaos.
Laureen cursed her bad luck inwardly as she faced Anaos.
How did Old Biden get here so quickly!
He showed no sign of it on his face, feigning ignorance as he asked, "Marshal Anaos, what brings you here?"
Anaos glanced at him and said coldly, "I heard that some insects reported that female soldiers of the K2 Legion were raping intellectually disabled male insects. As the marshal of the K2 Legion, shouldn't I be here?"
"Oh, no, no," Laureen chuckled awkwardly. "It's just that this matter concerns the rights of male insects. Protecting the safety of male insects and upholding their legitimate rights is the responsibility of our Male Protection Association. This has nothing to do with your military, does it?"
(Please remember the website 202s.tw for the fastest chapter updates.)
"Since it's a female soldier from our K2 Legion who was reported, that's a matter for the military." Anaos questioned, "Where are we now? Has Mikel confessed, or do you have conclusive evidence? Is this male really an idiot? Is that why your Male Protection Association is in such a hurry to take Mikel away?"
Laureen listened to Anaos's question but didn't answer directly: "This requires Mikel's cooperation to come back to the Xiongbao Association with us for further investigation. Our president also hopes the military won't interfere in this matter, otherwise..."
The words were left unsaid, but the threat was palpable.
The military and the Xiongbao Society are not part of the same system and have virtually no overlap. However, the Empire's preference for the Xiongbao Society ensures that the Xiongbao Society acts with impunity. In the eyes of various legions, the Xiongbao Society is a notorious rogue and scoundrel, and those legions would not want to cross paths with the Xiongbao Society.
"The military just wants to understand the situation, Vice President, there's no need to be nervous." Anaos smoothed his sleeves and slowly walked into the small ward.
"Marshal." Mikel looked disheveled and felt ashamed to face him.
"He's not stupid. There's something fishy about the sudden chaos in my mind."
"No...no...idiot." Cheng Chu stammered, trying to pronounce it in the Zerg language.
The speech was disjointed but clear; it was indeed the Zerg language.
Cheng Chu had pretty much figured it out; the key question was whether he was an idiot.
Cheng Chu clearly stated in the Zerg language that he was not a fool, and this time Laureen could not fool him.
"Your Excellency, please answer seriously, are you really not a fool?" Anaos asked Cheng Chu.
Cheng Chu shook his head and answered firmly, "No."
Anaos relaxed his tense expression, which made things easier.
"Vice President, what's going on?" Anaos's imposing gaze swept over Laureen.
"This... Marshal Anaos, this is the hospital's diagnosis, and His Excellency Xiongzi's mind is not normal; he often talks nonsense, so we can't believe it..." Laureen was already sweating nervously.
Anaos interrupted him, his face full of anger, "Listen to what you're saying! What hospital diagnosis? Even Lord Xiongzi himself said he's not stupid. Does Lord Xiongzi's word not count? Do we have to wait for the hospital to say he's not stupid before we can believe him?"
What's the logic behind this?
Whether I'm a fool or not is not for me to decide.
"Your Excellency, were you forced by him?" Anaos asked Cheng Chu, pointing at Mikel.
"No." Cheng Chu shook his head.
Cheng Chuxin was exhausted. In the past nineteen years, he never thought that one day he would need to repeatedly confirm with others that he was not a fool.
Although, this behavior really makes him look like a fool.
"Did you hear that, Vice President?" Anaos said through gritted teeth, enunciating each word clearly, "Vice President, Lord Xiongzi has neither intellectual disabilities nor was he forced. What else do you have to say?"
In today's society, male and female insects may engage in promiscuous behavior before marriage, but the male is not forced into it; it's merely morally unethical. Moreover, in matters involving two insects, it's usually only the female who is criticized, while the male suffers no loss. Such matters do not violate imperial law, and it's not the Male Protection Association's place to interfere.
Laureen's face had darkened, and she mumbled an excuse: "Our Male Protection Association was also deceived. We acted swiftly due to the urgency of the situation. We came immediately upon receiving the report, but we didn't investigate thoroughly; this is our dereliction of duty. However, our Male Protection Association was only concerned for the safety of the male insects; after all, everything is for their safety."
Finally, Laureen changed the subject, still unwilling to give up, and said, "And we didn't even know that Lord Cheng Chu and General Mikel had this kind of relationship. Congratulations! I wonder when they plan to apply for marriage?"
Only Cheng Chu was puzzled. Why did it jump to marriage?
In the Zerg race, if a female Zerg mates with a male Zerg, it is customary that the female can only marry the male Zerg; this is certain.
Sure enough, as soon as Laureen spoke, all the insects present turned their attention to Mikel.
Even if Cheng Chu isn't stupid, the fact that he's the first male Zerg with a mental strength level of E has already caused a sensation on the StarNet a few days ago.
This is the first time such a case has been seen in the Zerg race; there is no Zerg that is unaware of it.
Even if Mikel were an S-class female insect, no lower-class female insect would want to marry such a useless male insect.
But things have escalated significantly today, with many onlookers filming and uploading numerous videos to the StarNet. The initial buzz surrounding Cheng Chu had just died down, and now this new wave of controversy has arisen…
